Hi CC's, our view of the 7 night Fantastique - Oct 11 - 18, 2008. Noumea, Lifou and Port Vila. Gizigoo will eventually paste our meeting with Chrissy the hospital lady so wont repeat them here. Thanks to all the other photo pasters, helps extend the happy memories and perhaps show places for next visit (we hope). Regards G & H

Hi Bob,
. I don't know if the markets are much different from the ones in Vila - probably a bit more classy and upmarket, but that probably means "less colourful".:):)
Hi Ela 2 - The Markets are less rural than Vila but the French touch more than made up for it. Different but still worth a look. Brekky of bowl of coffee with baguette and then to the patisserie for an early morn tea. Lots of fresh colourful fish, chicken and local produce. Also stalls with trinkets and souvenirs. The Bob Marley bats were a hoot.(soft toy fruit bats dressed in Marley hat and shirt) Nothing is cheap in Noumea but food seems safe to eat. (I've been there for a couple of weeks without problems) Have a great trip, Graham

Booking With US Sites & US TA's
in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Posted
Hi, Being regular cruisers from Australia we have been following the thread with interest. We have just abour exhausted the cruises offered from Australia/NZ and looking further afield.
As an example of what we are up against (and not just whinging), just had a directed email offering a HAL Alaska cruise 7 night from $549US from a US site. When I click on the link for details, it directs to HAL home site in Australian dollars and offers the same cruise from $955.86, that is a conversion rate of .57, for the last several months it has been hovering around .90. That means in real money we are paying approx 346 AUD for the same cruise. Hardly fair, what happened to the level playing field of global economics?
