  1. I am not making this up. I booked a cruise on Nov 22, 2022 and because I did not check with the other people listed, had to cancel the next day I made a dumb move and lost 200 deposit, I accepted that. When I booked, I included insurance and gratuities, and paid in full via Uplift. I expected to owe Uplift the 200 deposit.

Uplift told me that Carnival did not refund the insurance or the gratuities.

When I called Carnival today, they told me that the insurance was non refundable because I was beyond the 10 day grace period of getting a refund when canceling. I told them I had canceled within 24 hours of making that booking. They told me that I am just now canceling the insurance. I then asked; "how can the insurance still be in effect when I canceled the cruise a month ago". I was told that was because I am just calling about it!  I was so frustrated that I told him goodby because this was going nowhere.

I had another cup of coffee, and reflected on what just transpired. I still did not believe what I was hearing. I went over the whole call in my mind, thinking maybe I am missing something. Nothing they said made any sense. I called back

I went through the first CS rep quickly and requested the resolution desk. I was astounded that I got the same answer! I tried to get it across that it was impossible for the Carnival Protection insurance to still be in effect when the cruise (contract) was canceled within the grace period providing for a total refund. After a few minutes, she interrupted me and said that I was simply not going to get the refund. I then asked how I could appeal this further. She connected me with her supervisor. Two minutes later, the supervisor asked me what I thought the refund should be. She agreed!

She would only give me an OBC and I did not care to ask for a direct refund. I was happy to get this far.

I still cannot believe that 4 CS people would tell me the same story that the insurance was still in effect when there was no cruise to insure!

I am Platinum on Carnival and want to add that this was the first time I had a problem with CS.

  2. People that have never done a back-to-back SHOULD NOT advise others on what to do, some of those replies would create a host of problems for the cruiser doing the back-to-back.

YOUR CABIN STEWARD WILL MAKE THE MOVE TO ANYWHERE ON THE SHIP.

Ask him what you need to do to help him.

  3. We're going on the Glory leaving from Miami to PR, HMC, St. Thomas and Grand Turk on July 8th (this Saturday!). If this thing turns into a tropical storm or Hurricane ... what will they do? Will the captain just make itinerary changes? I'm nervous 😩 The cruise won't get canceled will it?

Many different answers but you can be assured that the Captain will do the right thing.

Yours is similar to mine. One of my first thoughts was that they would go out to sea to avoid it and do a reverse itinerary. Stay tuned

  4. First time in Miami last week First time using Go Airport Shuttle

On Fri 11/6 it took three hours to get from FLL to my hotel in Miami. There were ten people and five stops. The driver did not have any destination info from the starters and asked all to write on the back of a piece of cardboard. We passed my hotel twice and another once before going back.

I also had a confirmed res to be picked up at the Miami cruise pier and taken back to FLL on Sunday the15th. When I got off the ship, I was instructed to call in for the van. It was not until about 10:30 am that I called and was told that there was no one going to pick me up. I explained I had a confirmed res and I was then told I was trying to scam the system. Not having a clue I asked again and she said they do not service the cruise pier!

I asked around and the only way to get to FLL was a cab for $75.00

When I got home I called their customer service and could not believe what I was hearing. "3 hour trip time is normal" They do not have van service from the cruise pier but do provide a car service starting at $108 bucks. She could not explain my getting a confirmed res but did say that the web site clearly states that there is no van service.

75+15 bucks later I was at FLL.

At home I went back to the site and it took me a while to see that it did say where they serviced Miami. I still had a confirmed van res for 27 bucks.

(NO) GO is an international company serving New York etc.

No matter where I go it will be without GO!!

  5. We had confirmed reservations on Super-Shuttle for airport to hotel and hotel to port. on Dec 6th and 7th.

Upon arriving at FLL and collecting baggage. we called for van and were told that they did not have a van for us. Here we are, tired after a 8 hour from Sacramento with my daughters two wheelchairs, two large bags and assorted carryons. They acknowledged my confirmed res but said that "WE DONT HAVE A PERMIT FOR THE AIRPORT".

We did manage to get a accessible cab after a while.

Next morning, we receive a call stating that the don't have transportation to the port either. NO PERMIT TO THE PORT!!!

It took us two hours to get a cab from the hotel to the port.

Filed formal complaint with SS, waiting for response

(Have used SS in many6 other cities without problems.)

  6. Unfortunately, only perk you get is priority boarding and debarking.

If you want the suite to be ready when you board, you will either need to be platinum or purchase FTTF.

Enjoy your suite! I had one in May on the Glory and LOVED it!

Thank you, I kind of assumed just that. We sail Sunday so I will plan on 1:30 or so.:D

  7. I really don't know what the uproar is about except that as with many others, I have witnessed those folks that will simply not be pleased. It is either their nature or the game the play while ruining a vacation.

This turned out to be one of the most enjoyable of my twenty cruises mostly on RCCL. Our ten top table was the most enjoyable ever. We looked forward to the evening meals because of the people we met and the food was good but secondary.

One of the big reasons I booked this cruise was because of the folklore controversy. The changing of the name. The threats of Posiden and Neptune, although not believable, certainly entertaining.

    I dont remember any crowds

I dont remember my cabin being small....Its a cruise ship cabin!!!@

I dont remember thinking about whether its 'new' or 'old'..it was great looking.

I dont remember thinking about good or bad cruises as there is no such thing as a bad cruise....simply degrees of "goodness"

My experience with these sorts of complaints is best described as the people coming into the showroom 5 minutes before showtime and complaining that it was impossible to find good seats for their party of (you insert).

My only negative that I remember is the feeling of putting out the bags and knowing what the morning brings.

Biggest bummer......16n days was too short!!

By the way...the ship is MY destination when I cruise and the Sunshine filled the bill.

  8. i think we are actually going to keep the kids with us on formal night seeing as how my daughter is so incredibly excited about her "formal" dress she got. my son, not so much excited about the jacket i have for him...

I actually do have a few questions about the kids club though...

    1. do they take scheduled breaks during the day where they are closed, say lunch or dinner time? i think i had read that on here somewhere.

    2. do they give the kids armbands at the beginning of the week? my son has a peanut allergy and i considered getting him a band, but i wasn't sure if they handled that

i will probably think of more questions...

I dont know about the kids club but you can fill out a "guest special needs" form available from RCCL web site.

My daughter has life threatening peanut allergies and has been on 7 cruises. On the first night we ask to see the head waiter for that reason. They then help with that meal order and later will bring the next nights menu for you to order with their advice. She has never had a problem

I would suggest that you do the on line form and then contact the special needs desk.

Our "Guest confirmation of booking" does show that she has a peanut allergy. Also ask to see a chef in the Windjammer to ask about possible items that are not obvious.

They do a good job if asked. Our last cruise they even had a "clean" scoop available at the icecream place. Just have to ask. Hope this helps.

  9. Thank you! I agree about the "mean behind the screen" - there's no need for it. People won't want to post simple questions if they feel they will get this kind of response...

And, yes, I agree that we don't need to cut just because we have a little one - was just curious if what i heard was true ;)

I am glad that you can roll with the punches. Some of these people need to get a life. I still remember some of my first questions and now they seem silly.

There is no place for the sarcasm and outright rude remarks.

I don't know why these idiots lurk on these forums as they seem to want to change the basic concept of these pages....no question is a dumb question.

But they continue to do it in spite of being reminded that it is classless and just maybe they don't have a clue.

I was impressed by your responses ....enjoy your cruise.

  10. Hi everyone, if booked for my first ever cruise for this year on freedom of the seas, Western Caribbean :D very excited about this. I've been reading through the forum and have found lots of useful hints and tips. I just have a question regarding excursions. Can anyone reccommend a reputable company to book threw or does everyone tend to book threw RCCL directly.

    Thanks in advance

No need to think you are a "pain" with that question....replies are point on ...

#1 rule for first timers; There is no such thing as a dumb question.

    Have a great cruise
