Doesn’t look like airfare will be covered if it is not booked through Celebrity, at least that is my interpretation

Thank you for sharing the T&C's. Again, it does appear to read as though they would cover your 'quarantine' costs, should the test be positive...might have to bite the bullet and call for confirmation/clarity.

I'm not as worried about the airfare, as Air Canada, WestJet etc. all have flexible change policies, so you could likely change your flights, if you received a positive result and had to stay for an additional 14 days...

My interpretation would be the same as yours, and I've read nothing here or on the Celebrity board that would suggest otherwise. On the other hand, I don't recall a case where there was a positive reading from one of these tests, so there's really nothing concrete to go by. FWIW, I do have confidence in Celebrity keeping with the policy as written.

Thank you! Glad to hear that I'm not necessarily reading that incorrectly. It does sound like they may well cover your quarantine costs if you received a positive result.

Like you, I haven't been able to find any threads or information indicating how many people receive positive results and subsequently, how that's handled by Celebrity, post-cruise...I'd certainly feel better if I had some anecdotal evidence to go by.

    Covid-19 Assistance

Book a Celebrity cruise that’s sailing on or before April 30, 2022 and you’ll have the following reassurance at no extra charge:

    • 100% cruise fare refund for you, and your Traveling Party, if any of you tests positive for COVID-19 within 14 days prior to the cruise or at the boarding terminal.**
    • Pro-rated cruise fare refund for anyone who has their cruise cut short due to testing positive for COVID-19 or being suspected of having COVID-19 during the cruise.
    • If you test positive for COVID-19 during the cruise, Celebrity Cruises will cover the cost of COVID-19 related medical treatment onboard, any required land-based quarantine, and homebound travel for you and your Traveling Party.

I have been digging through the insurance threads trying to figure out if Celebrity's 'COVID-19 Assistance' program covers quarantine in FL should you test positive on your PCR test taken on the last sea day (required for re-entry to Canada). Theoretically, since the test is given onboard and you receive your results onboard, would this not meet the requirements for the 3rd bullet? "If you test positive for COVID-19 during the cruise..." Anyone have any confirmation/clarity on this?

Being in Alberta, it's proven to be difficult to find an insurance provider willing to cover quarantine costs in FL post-cruise, if we receive a positive PCR test result. This is the one thing preventing us from pulling the trigger on a holiday sailing in December...

  4. Hi there - glad to hear that St. Thomas is coming along. Have been wondering how the recovery has been going. Any updates on St. John? We're people going over there?

We're considering a Christmas cruise onboard the Royal in December. We sailed on her for Christmas in 2015 and had a wonderful cruise, including fantastic food. We're a little concerned though as the reviews haven't been good as of late. Just wondering if the same chefs are onboard again. Do you happen to know who the executive chef and the pastry chefs were?

    Thank you kindly!

  5. When my manager and her husband went there in April they said the owners told her the villa was for sale, so I guess it may have sold and the new owners aren't willing to have people there now. Just a guess, but sounds reasonable if the excursion isn't available anymore.

That would make sense and was my suspicion after doing a quick Google search. A few of the top results were real estate listings for the villa, so looks like it may be sold! Too bad, it looks like such a beautiful spot! Hopefully the new owners will change their mind and allow guests in the future.

  6. We're booked on the Jewel of the Seas B2B in December and had booked this tour as soon as we booked the cruise, as we tried to do it on our Celebrity cruise last December, but unfortunately it was sold out. However, I received an email this week saying that the tour had been cancelled. Needless to say we were very disappointed as we've heard such amazing feedback about it. Anyone happen to know why they're no longer offering this excursion?? Also, will they be offering something else, similar to this tour perhaps?

  7. We've booked a B2B for Christmas this year on the Summit. Last year, we did a 14-night sailing on the Eclipse and were pleasantly surprised to see 'British-style' chunky chips (thick cut french fries) in the buffet, so I'm wondering if this is simply a 'Solstice-class' offering, or if the buffet on the Summit will have them as well. Has anyone seen them? :)

    Thanks!

  8. Hello,

After a search of the forums, I can't seem to find anyone who may have done this before. I hope someone might be able to shed some light:

We're thinking of booking two consecutive cruises in December, a 10-night with Celebrity, ending on December 22nd and a 5-night with Princess, beginning on the 22nd, from Port Everglades. We're seasoned cruisers and are familiar with the early disembarkation and late embarkation preferences of the cruise lines. Therefore, we're wondering a few things:

    1. How would we get from our Celebrity ship to our Princess ship the day of? Are there shuttles in the port that do such things? Or would we have to walk with our luggage from one terminal to the other (which could end up being quite far!!) Or, would we need to grab a taxi - if one would even take us, given the short distance?

    2. Given that Celebrity will want us off their ship early and Princess won't open their check-in until late morning, what are our options at the port during these hours? Will we be able to even access the Princess terminal in the early morning hours to wait? Or, will we be left wandering the port until the Princess terminal opens?

Basically, is this idea even feasible? Given that we'll have quite a few hours to kill between disembarking the Celebrity ship and being able to board the Princess ship. Should we take a Celebrity shore excursion on disembarkation day and make our own way back to the pier from FLL?

Just trying to figure out the logistics to see if this might work. Thank you kindly in advance for any help/advice!

  9. I just finished a gluten free week on the Reflection and it was the best cruise dining experience I've had.

I have celiac and have to be very careful with what I eat. In Blu, the waiters were careful to point out everything that was gluten free, offered me gluten free bread nightly, and asked the chef to prepare some dishes just for me.

The Oceanview cafe has plenty of options (GF toast and pizza were always available) and any of the options were labeled in other areas ( Aquaspa cafe). The Porch and Bostro on Five didn't have very many options for me, but I never went hungry and didn't have any celiac issues on the entire cruise.

I've been on other cruise lines where I had to eat plain grilled chicken breast with a baked potato for every dinner. I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy soups, sauces, and a a variety of delicious dishes.

Thank you for the information! I am also gluten-free and will be sailing on the Eclipse next week. You mentioned that GF toast and pizza were always available in the Oceanview Cafe. Were these items already out and labeled as such or did you have to ask for them/request them in advance? I was thinking of bringing my own GF bread onboard that I could bring to the OC and toast myself, but wasn't sure if toasters for passenger use are available.

  10. We are going on the Oasis in Oct. Nassau, St Thomas and St Maarten. I have found excursions through Island Marketing Ltd to seem really good. And they are in every port we are going to. But when I try to research them there are only very old reviews. Has anyone used them and what do you think of them?

I used this tour company in the Cayman Islands back in 2009. We did a wave runner excursion to Stingray City. To this day it still stands out as one of the very best tours we've ever done! Staff were great, very helpful, friendly and mindful of the ship's time and getting us back to port on time. I'm thinking of using them again on my upcoming cruise in December in either St. Martin or Barbados. Long story short - I would recommend them! Hope this is helpful :)

  11. Ahh yes. I wish we had known about this on our Liberty cruise (Aug 23rd) We were not told the night before we hit GC that the ship stays on ship time and not local time.

We had booked a private tour and when our tour guide didn't know up 'at the right time' we checked with one of the locals and found out the local time was an hour behind. We managed to do our tour, but had to cut the last stop short in order to make it back to the last tender.

Make sure you check before leaving the ship!! It is my understanding that they usually tell you, but we were not told.
