  1. YMMV, but this is what we do...

As Diamond or above, you get 2 additional 50% off beers/wines/soda coupons as well...use those for the beers or cheaper wines first, then use the 10% off coupon for beer each account has. Yeah, you do have to tell bartender..."I want to do this"...so you are paying for beers or cheaper wine, but then use vouchers for more expensive drinks in evening. Seems to work for us, no drink package and our beer expense has been nowhere near the cost of the beverage package for 2. Probably closer to 200 for the 7 night cruise total bar bill. Some nights we were not even using all 5 and stopped and picked up unopened beers for the next day for pool or PDCC, etc.

And now that we made Prime ( drinks when casino is open), we wont ever buy a package again...(again, buy is relative term as getting to Prime was cheaper overall than a single cruise drink package...we were lucky)

  2. Wife and I just got off of Serenade on Saturday, and D+ staying in a 1BR GS... The Concierge in the "Concierge Club", Christian, mentioned why there were no Pinnacles in the lounge on the 12/10 cruise...Why I asked... The number of Pinnacles on board exceeded 38 (I believe there were 55 on board and 200 D+). Thought it was odd (why 38?) The number of Suite guests in there every night was around 10-15. It was quiet for sure. All I could figure out was some RCCL unknown Math ( X% of suite guests per night + 38 Pinnacles = 100% Capacity.) Not sure how viable this 38 is on other classes, but at least some barrier point was reported for Radiance class

  3. Port Canaveral itself. We just got off Independence first week of July and they do have a shuttle from Terminal 1 ( cant speak for the others). If you want to walk it, its about a quarter of a mile as the crow flies. 710 Mullet Road is the location.

  4. We were on Indy in late April on a 3 night and and found out the hard way that Fish and Ships was not included with UDP ( but the roll is good) , only place that wasn't included. Izumi was awesome, ate a Giovanni's one night, excellent and 2 lunches and third night at Playmakers, Alex the manager said " I want to show you how to abuse the UDP here", it was hilarious and delicious. Never got close to 20 per person. We also stopped by for a desert one night (Cookie cant be taken to go because of hot pan). The one thing we didn't try, but have heard of is to use a Diamond drink on a pitcher of beer and pay the 5 dollar difference at Playmakers. Back on Indy on 7/4.

Your review has been wonderful so far!! Interesting about the cabanas on the lawn deck. We almost never saw them in use on our cruise but it sounds like it was a great investment for you!

I have a favor to ask, regarding Marko your bartender. I'm pretty sure he is the same guy we fell in love with several years ago on the Millennium in Alaska. He was on his very first cruise contract. We were so excited that he was on our Equinox cruise a couple of weeks ago! He is now working the Sky Lounge every night.

I didn't realize that he is also working the cabana area, but I'm not surprised. Bringing you that Rose is exactly the kind of thing Marko would do.

So, on our 7/25 cruise, Marko wrote down his Facebook name for us because we want to follow him on FB and cruise with him again if the opportunity arises. Then I promptly lost his note. 😳 (Ask him if he ever found my $200 casino voucher-- man, I was losing it on that cruise!)

So anyway, if you happen to run into Marko at the cabanas, or in the Sky Bar -- he is there for hours every night -- please ask him to friend us on FB. Paul N Becky Niendorff. (He knows me as Rebecca because that is the name on my card). There aren't many Niendorffs on FB so he should be able to find us.

His fiance Andrea works in Cafe Al Bacio so you'll see her when you get your morning coffee. She's a sweetheart.

Regarding Marko...He was outstanding on the 7/25 cruise as I am sure he normally is... He makes a drink...he called it the Marko, but was still working on the name...that he made the last night of the cruise for my wife...soon after he made her another and 3 more for the people around who saw it and wanted to try it. Ask he for one to try.

  6. Great review, very entertaining...was on 7/25 Equinox and learned this great hack late in the cruise and saw your omelet pic...In Oceanview when you order an omelet...ask for the fresh egg option. Didn't even know that a choice, always assumed it was fresh eggs, but its not. It made a difference in the taste (not that the original omelet was bad, not at all) just you can taste the fresh eggs vs the egg mix. Enjoy the cruise!

I'm sitting in Oceanview on Equinox wearing my fashion-forward tracelet.  No way to tell unvaccinated from vaccinated.  Lots of folks wearing masks.  I do in elevators.  And if you just can't stand to wear a tracelet, stick it in your pocket.

Just off the 7/25 Equinox sailing, had one for 5 days and had to replace it for the last 2 days... and yes, these are:
    1. Recycled at the end of the cruise just before the gangway (big tubs to drop in)
    2. Are water resistant only, not water proof (dont wear in hot tub 🙂 )see note above about replacing

    3. Saw persons wearing them on their lanyard and not on wrist, so on person is ok
    4. Wore on excursion but took off prior to entering water
    5. Have different color dots for persons in same stateroom so you know whose is whose
    6. Felt like a watch and easy to adjust as food/booze intake warranted
    7. Was sitting in Oceanview beside a "close contact" couple of the 1 singular case on our sailing, security located the couple because of the tracelet, so they work...

Some folks reported hearing a chirp, some reported seeing a blue LED in the center flash...we saw neither, but YMMV...hope this helps

  8. As most can tell, I rarely post, but enjoy reading reviews, seeing photographs of the ships, reading about towel hogs on the pool deck, etc. But this thread is making me sad. I for one am very happy that MSC and TUI are sticking their toes in the water. Will everything be perfect, NO, will everything be wrong, NO. This thread went from... discussing MSC preventing violators from re-boarding because of breaking the social distance bubble. (I for one applaud them. The crew isolation prior to the cruise, the continued testing of the crew, the protocols being followed,  I'm OK with the shield because of those)....to i know better than you, why are they doing this, this is all wrong,  I wont be part of it...We all miss cruising or we would not be part of Cruise Critic, have cruise line links in our Favorites and know almost all of the worlds webcams. Just once during this pandemic can't we just celebrate with and say Thank you to MSC and Tui for doing what you are doing. The world is watching.

  9. We did a 4 night Cuba cruise on Empress in October of 2017 and there was a Cigar pairing with Liquors in Bolero's during sail away and cigar smoking was allowed on the aft deck during this time, Starboard side. It was great sailing out of Havana Harbor with a Cuban Cigar and Cognac. There was only 2 of us participating...myself and the ships comedian. We had a great time. It seemed to be you could smoke in that area at other times as well. Hope this answers your question.
