  1. Ncl mandates that no travel agent can advertise a price cheaper than theirs. That doesn't mean you can't get a better deal. Many agents offer you perks on top of NCL perks. Usually an onboard credit or free insurance or pre paid tips.

I have two 7 day cruises booked this month - one with an agent who gave me an onboard credit and for the other, the agent had an "affinity group" set up (basically they buy a block of rooms and get perks that they can use them selves or share with cruisers). They gave me the UBP free including gratuity and free prepaid tips. That plus my CruiseNext certificate took the cruise to practically free ;)

  2. I think the part you are missing when people keep saying "but she is asking to return them for HEALTH REASONS" is that to call NCL and say any other reason is lying. I think if you called them with your list of reasons, you wouldnt have a leg to stand on since none of the things you listed are part of the value of the $250 off a cruise certificate... but either way... to call and say it is for any reason other than health reasons would be lying. I think personal integrity is worth more than $150. Just my two cents though.

The op didn't ask for a refund because he probably doesn't know it's a possibility at this point.

It's just another option for the op to ask for a refund but please read carefully...that I said it was a POSSIBILITY....not a 100% guarantee

It's been done before as posted on these boards after the 30 day mark and I'm not disputing the validity of posters who have done it....I'm just saying I've seen it posted that's its been successful

When ncl asks why he cant go with

    His health

    His displeasure with ncl changes

You are acting as though ncl will be able to read the ops mind over the phone but they can't so he can use any argument that works

Or he can sell them. Give them away or just write them off.

Fwiw....I wouldn't worry about losing $125 or $150 if the reason I couldn't go was health related. I'd give them away if I couldn't sell them or I'd let let expire and call it a day

  3. It appears and what you (and I) are seeing is the placeholder page. If you look at the For the Record detail page, they note it isn't available as a paid activity and is moving to the main stage and free after a date that is over a year ago. I think they flip a switch at the right number of days for you and that page is replaced with the proper pages to order.

I'm on the 14th October sailing, and I see the following options although it says 'reservations are not offered' next to them, with the exception of Supper Club and Wine Lovers which say 'too early to book' (which we are).

    After midnight

    Escape the Big top

    For the record: banquet ($24.99)

    For the record: floor ($29.99)

    Headliners comedy club

    Howl

    Levity

    Supper club ($35.34)

    Wine lovers

I don't know why both For The Records are showing a fee?! Shouldn't one be free? We are in the Haven booking period as of today so surely this should be correct by now? Something weird going on with the Entertainment on the Escape for sure.

  4. It looks like whatever change is happening is happening the week of the 30th. I have seen change over weeks before have a non production show, but I am hoping for the best. Would love to hear from someone on one of the October sailings what they see once their 90 days hits.

Either way - it will be an awesome time. I'm not too picky but I am very curious.

I had no problem booking the free show for our Sept 23 cruise.
  5. Correct. Still unable to book. I have seen in the past where they bring in temporary entertainment like an act from America's Got Talent for a week when they change over. Hope that is not the case.

So are those of you on the 9/30 sailing still unable to book After Midnight and the complimentary showing of For the Record-The Brat pack? I do wonder if they are going to change the shows.
  6. Trina- are you in NC? We are in RDU and will be on the same sailing.

I'm also on the 9/30 Escape sailing and was wondering why I couldn't book the show. I started to think I hadn't actually hit the 90 day mark, but I was able to make dining reservations, so I was stumped
  7. I am booked on the Escape on the 9/30 sailing and am unable to book any entertainment. I see After Midnight and For The Record: Brat Pack but both say they don't offer reservations (was on Escape last year and know both of those shows did) I called NCL and they said they have nothing in the system yet. They said either they are behind or there is a change over happening.

Anyone have any inside info? A little googling shows me that end of September is when the contracts end for the performers that boarded in March. I'm just hoping I am not in a change over week with an "in between" substitute show.

  8. yup.....only the GTY rates are down which do not include any perks. They are dropping prices specifically in a way to draw customers who may not care about beverage or dining packages.

The cheapest prices are for the no perks rooms but on my sailing a solo balcony room with perks went from 1199 last week to 499 today. Doh!
