  1. Very glad to hear that they have this still!  Haven't cruised on Celebrity for 7 or so years, and I was hoping this hadn't changed.  That being said, I recall paying a few hundred dollars for it previously.  I suppose that's possibly b/c I got printouts of every single photo they took of us, and maybe they don't do that now.  (Correct?)

I don't buy souvenirs but i do LOVE having photos, so this was awesome for me anyhow.  I ended up with digital files for over 100 photos that they had of us!

We had a hard time deciding which to go with, so I did up a chart to help with the comparison. It showed when and how long we were at each stop, prices, etc. It was much easier to make a decision once we had all that info laid out in front of us!

Have had people asking for the chart I created 7 years ago.  I really don't want to share it because the information is SO out of date now -- I'd hate for people to make decisions on info that's 7 years old.  Unfortunately I can't withdraw my offer to share the info with you -- posts in CC can't be edited.

I will however tell you how I did it so you can create your own.

I narrowed the list of possible tours down to five or so.  I used only the main tour operators that received positive reviews.  Across the top of the chart were the names of the five tours, along with the appropriate tour operator.  I had a bunch of rows set up so I could enter the tour info. Based on their websites, I typed in (or maybe I copied and pasted...) the tour info -- one cell for each stop on the tour.  I also entered other relevant info -- prices, for instance -- into the cells.

I printed it out, and highlighted the parts that were common to all five tours.  What was left -- the unhighlighted parts -- showed the differences.  From there I was able to make a decision.

So there you have it.  I'm sure that people who are contacting me for this info aren't realizing that changes are made by the tour companies, and over 7 years many changes have happened.  I won't be responding any more to requests to share the info.  I appreciate the interest in the chart but it's so out of date now that it is no longer useful!

  3. I've found a guided walking tour through SHAPE (Society for Heritage Architecture Preservation & Enhancement)! It's $15 US per person for a 90 minute tour. On Wed Jan 4, she's able to do a tour at 10:30 am. Anyone else interested in joining us that day?

  4. Wondering if any of you have done a tour with Seagrape. I haven't been to St. Maarten, and am thinking of booking the history tour with Seagrape.

It sounds ideal except I'm a bit concerned about the two 10 minute uphill walks. I'm not in great shape any more and am wondering how steep these uphill walks are.

Any input you can provide about the history tour would be appreciated. Thanks!

  5. I was wondering the same thing, but I figure that since some luggage will still be arriving when the early dinner is being served, it's probably not going to be a formal night. I'm guessing it'll be the next day, on January 1.

Hey, does this mean y'all are on the December 31 sailing of the Summit? You should swing by the roll call!

  6. When you're a thirsty person like me, eating at the buffet can be a challenge -- what's going to happen to my food/table when I'm away? So I created this little sign I leave while I'm away:

GREAT idea!! And thanks for sharing yours with us! I took some time today and made my own. Will print it on white cardstock and then I'll be all set!

  7. I've had some people contact me recently about the comparison chart I did a few years ago. It's really out of date, so am going to withdraw my offer to share it. I'd hate to be responsible for misinformation going out! Hope you understand!

Have had people requesting my comparison chart lately -- I guess they missed this post. My chart is over 3 years old now and definitely out of date, so I won't be sharing it any more. I'd hate for people to make decisions based on it since it's so out of date.

For what it's worth, if any of you are interested in doing your own, here's how I did it:

    - narrow down your choices to 3 or 4 possibilities

    - set up a chart with a column for each plus a column at the start for each possible stop on the tour

    - for each possible stop, fill in the appropriate tour column with Y or N or write in details such as early admission

When I set up the chart I didn't worry about what order we did things in -- my priority was having a solid footing to be able to make content comparisons.

  8. My parents had a wonderful butler named Ricky when they had a RS on the Connie for our Baltic cruise. I was on the same cruise with a friend and we made sure we swung by my parents' cabin at 4 so we could enjoy the tea served by him! It was my 50th birthday on that cruise so we had a party with my new friends and Ricky helped set it all up.

He had been my parents' butler on a previous cruise too and they were thrilled to have him again. He really made a difference!
