  1. My husband and I have booked casino offers in the past for “free” rooms plus taxes. I’m interested in a future “free” casino cruise I’ve been offered. The problem is my husband isn’t free at that time. Has anyone been able to book these casino offers solo. If so what are the charges?  Thanks for any information.

I booked four cruises with the casino offer in the past month. All four cruises the reps said the same thing to me about there being a balance. The rep said they have to fill out a casino form to alert the casino department to pay the balance of the cruise. The first cruise we booked back in Sept for next June... when I called to add the HIA package last week, I was told by a rep that there was still a balance on the cruise and they had to contact the casino department to find out why it hadn't been paid yet (rep said it usually takes five days for them to pay, but I had booked that cruise over a month ago). I guess there is a backlog. So they couldn't add the HIA package because when they added it on in their system the system requires the remainder balance to be paid. Which again, the casino department needs to pay. So we couldn't add the HIA package yet. I asked when I booked the additional three casino offer cruises a few days ago about the possibility that come cruise time, what if the casino still hasn't paid the remainder balance and I was reassured it would be paid before the cruise starts. Maybe take that with a grain of salt but I will be calling back closer to the cruise to verify the balances have been paid. Several of the cruises I booked are in Nov. so I will report back as it gets closer to let you know if there is still an issue.

That gives me some relief.  I didn't want to book flights and find out they cancelled my cruise because I didn't pay.  This cruise is in December.  Thanks for the info!

  3. Just booked a casino offer yesterday.  "Free" ocean view cabin, $125 casino cash, and free drinks while playing in casino.  We were charged port taxes and a $250 deposit per person which she said would be refunded as onboard credit.  The booking agent said that we were charged the full amount on our credit card and when she emails the invoice it will appear that we still have a balance for the cruise.  We were told to ignore it but it says due today and I hope I can believe her.  Anyone else have this experience?  I tried to call today but couldn't get through.

  4. I think that's it, wonder how that ended up being our stop? I definitely did not book an excursion to that.

I believe back in 2002 Carnival Pride made a stop at Salt Cay (Known as Blue Lagoon Island). It was a tender. Now it is an excursion from Nassau and when Carnival passengers are in port I don't think they allow other people there. I could be wrong. There is a ferry also that leaves Paradise Island but I think you have to be on a paid tour.

  5. We stayed there for one night before our cruise. If you can get a decent price it is okay for a short stay. I wouldn't stay there again myself. We prefer the Courtyard by Marriott which is close by. We had young noisy people in the room next to us which was not the hotels fault. The metal entrance door to our room was filthy and didn't close properly. The wifi never worked the whole time we were there. Even in the lobby. They had a wired computer in the lobby that I finally used. They tried to say the wifi was fine and must be my device but other guests had the same problem. The hot tub was cold and the jets didn't work. We didn't eat in the restaurant so I'm not sure how that is. It is within walking distance to the beach and restaurants. The grounds were kept up and the room itself was okay but there are nicer places for not much more money.

  6. I just booked a cruise today and checked off set dining instead of "as you wish" dining. I was never given my choice of dining times. The reservation confirmation shows set dining but no specific time. I was hoping for the late seating. Do they assign your time later? Do I need to call them?

  7. Is this allowed? I would like to pre pay the gratuities before the cruise as they are offering a better exchange rate. When I tried to do it on the website it says now owing that amount but due by the end of February. I got out of there because I was worried if I went any further it would look like I was trying to make the payment after final payment date. I was worried my cruise would be cancelled for making a late payment. Maybe I would be better off calling them direct and paying them.

  8. It was a long shot. Taxi it is.

Or we could take the shared shuttle to the airport and then call the hotel shuttle that picks up at the airport. Not sure at this point. Probably wouldn't be much cheaper.
