  1. I had late dining but wanted to be switched to “my time”. I phoned them and was told there was a waitlist for “my time” but he said I was number 7 in the queue so had a good chance. A few days later I logged on the planner and found I had been switched. So give them a call, even if they are full you can be added to waitlist as people change their minds. I booked with a T.A but it wasn’t a problem going direct and doing this.

  2. I would love to do a cruise which sails most of the west coast, stopping at as many ports along the way, Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, etc... even better if it sails from Canada to Mexico or Honolulu. I have seen lots of cruise that do segments of this, but can’t find any that do the whole West coast. Any help or suggestions appreciated.

  3. I love my "old kindle" and have utilised the free 3g from all over the world to access my emails and briefly browse the net. Only works when close to shore or onshore though. Came into its own when I was stranded in Canada because of the ash cloud and need updates from home!

  4. I think some people just find the cruiseline thats suits their needs and then can't understand why everyone doesn't share that same love.

I would never be ashamed to tell anyone what cruise ships I have sailed, I am fortunate enough to be able to cruise and for me, it's more about seeing as much as the world as I can, so not really too bothered about which line I sail as long as it's English speaking, the price is right and it fits in with the dates I'm available.

  5. I have lost 44lbs doing slimming world in the UK, dropped 3 dress sizes and I am only 5lb from goal weieght. I have bought all new clothes for my up and coming cruise and feel amazing when I stand in front of the mirror looking so slim, so I agonize every day what to do on our up and coming cruise. My hubby wants to get the cheers program which will mean a lot of my weight gain will come from alcohol as well as food. I think I am going to be sensible, but not deprive myself of desserts etc and take any gain on the chin but then be really strict when I return home.

  6. I'm only tipping at most $2-3. the room stewards autotip is only $11 or so a day per room and a portion of that goes to his assistant. So to tip someone more who technically only comes up a few flight of stairs to bring me a sandwich.. and doesn't even make it...just seems unfair.

  7. Can you get compact side by sides in US? I live in UK and have a side by side called an out and about nipper. Not sure if it's available in US? It fits through standard doorways and is no wider than a wheel chair yet somehow it is really roomy fitting a three year old and baby in no problem. It's also a dream to push. I would consider looking at compacts on eBay etc if you don't want to spend a lot. Then you can resell when you get back.

  8. If there is a line I will wait with everyone else, but I'm a bit of a "gap" hopper. If I see a large space where no one else is taking food from then I'll nip in and do that bit. Then hop to the next bit where there is a gap... Speeds things up for everyone. Stupid to wait behind the ones who can't make up their mind when the rest of the area is free

  9. Having sailed with other lines and love to dress up on formal nights.. I booked carnival for a cruise in April before I realised they take a more relaxed approach. (RCL was the most relaxed so far). I have told hubby to leave the tux at home and he will just wear a normal suit. I will be leaving the long dresses at home and taking 2 cocktail dresses so we will probably be way over dressed still. Even on casual nights I like to dress as I would going to a nice restaurant at home, so i always change into smart clothes for normal nights as well and wouldn't dream of wearing a t shirt in MDR. I live in jeans and t-shirts st home so want my cruise to be a special experience so dressing up on an evening is an important part of cruising for us..So will see how I find it and if I feel uncomfortable dressing up I don't think I will be going on another.

  10. I had to pay with my credit card at the time of booking... Just had a look online at my account and it is showing as pending authorisation so I assume it will be added on to my next statement.

  11. I haven't done it yet, so I am also interested in the review. I have booked it as there are only 10 places available (it tells you how many tickets are left when you add it to you basket and confirm online). We are sailing beginning of April.

  12. The very first cruise we did was on Princess and on the last day it was announced that the Jackpot was going to be a guaranteed payout. So for the first time we headed off to play.

Hubby and Son went off to try and find some seats (place was packed!) and I stood in line to get some tickets pausing to buy some markers as well. At this the person behind me very rudely pushed past me, thurst his money at the cashier, complaining about being kept waiting etc. Anyway bought my tickets (one strip of 6 for me and 2 strips of 3 for hubby and son).

Then I only went and won the jackpot.... $2610.50! The person who had pushed past me would have ended up with the strip of 6 that was the winning ticket, so it ended up being the ultimate payback and we were a happy bunch of cruisers!

  13. The only way I would consider it if there was a lot of tender ports or I had medical reasons... Never cruised with carnival but have done 3 other lines and only ever waited around for about 10 mins till boarding so can't see the point in paying to get on 10mins quicker.. I have never been one to carry on lots of hand luggage and I only take on a small handbag (purse) which I am happy to keep with me... I have been known to carry on my formal dresses in dress bags and never had a problem taking them to the room, meeting the room steward and hanging them in the wardrobe.. I want to be up on deck not in my room... So couldn't justify the $50... Not a cheapskate either.. happy to pay the bucks to fly all over the world to see amazing places... Just not happy to pay it so I see a cabin before anyone else!

  14. Really great review. We are due to sail with Carnival doing the same cruise in April. It will be our 5th cruise and have previously sailed with Princess, RCL and P&O (we are from the UK). I have enjoyed every cruise I have done so far and for us it is definitely a case of itinerary over cruise line as I am doing 2 nights in NY prior to the cruise (I want to see as much as the world as I can for the right price so cruising is the ideal way to see it).

Looking forward to reading more :-)
