  1. Sounds like they need a good editor/technical writer. That is my trade - think I could get the gig? :D

i have said for years they need proof readers.

i have friends who always book a celebrity suite to get all these ammenities. they are on the eclipse right now. because of all the sky suite pax taking all the space in michaels club and using up all the concierge's time, they couldn't even get their reservations for luminae. are they upset? you betcha. and they paid double the sky suites price.

  2. Yes, you got the restaurants right. And unlike some of the main stream cruise lines we both have been on, alternative restaurants don't cost extra on this ship.

Yes, we are thinking about doing the laundry package since we did it on our last ship and it was just amazing. And with the extra days in St. Martin pre cruise, sounds like a good thing to do.

Enjoy the welcome aboard meeting. Hopefully they finish up with that in time so you can be out on deck to watch the ship sailing. The web cam shows it all lit up so nice and pretty. ENJOY, ENJOY, and ENJOY!!!!!

i just read the menus. i am in love. please enjoy!!!!

  3. I guess I will retype it, and hope it works this time, and doesn't suddenly appear from thin air multiple times. Maybe I'll write it better this time, lol

Actually, it looks like several of my posts didn't actually appear. So I have to redo the better part of day one. Sigh.

OK, so we went up to Modernos, and were given a spacious table and our waiter, Luis, arrived to take our order. Luis works in Cagney's at night, so hopefully you will get a chance to meet him even if you aren't in a suite, as he was great.

We ordered: Grilled Prosciutto (arugula was a bit yellow each time we ordered anything that included it, and the prosciutto was a different texture/flavor than what I'm used to, but it was enjoyable), Fettucini with Porcini Mushrooms (meh -- which I'd heard before, but wanted to try myself, DD1 had same reaction), Pear Pleasure for me (very strong, not my favorite, but fun to try), the Bruschetta with Peppers and Mozzarella (they liked), Flounder Milanese (DH loved it), Mixed greens (good), Soup of the Day, Smoked Salmon (DD2 didn't care for it, but it was her first smoked salmon) Roasted Chicken (DD3 liked it) and some desserts, which were approved of.

We were done by 1pm, and decided to check if we could put our carry-on pieces in the cabin. We went upstairs, and the Haven was quiet as can be. We walked down the gorgeous hall, the Courtyard calling from the left, and finally, after all these months, stood in front of the Bird of Paradise suite -- cabin 14510

i'm reading, i'm reading, just so you'll know!!!

  4. I have been on over 20 cruises on Princess. Don't remember ever having towel animals. I have seen them on other lines, but not on Princess.

i have always had towel animals on all princess cruises. all i had to do was ask nicely. i love towel animals. never the first day but every other night from there on. then i save them all week and have a ZOO at the end.

  5. Good Morning - Assuming you're reading this on Saturday December 10th,

I was a little concerned with an article I read on o.canada.com... Plus, I've got a LOT of time to kill over the next five days... So, I finally called Princess and talked to a Supervisor... She assured me that our cruise is on schedule for 12/10 departure with no change(s) in itinerary... Still amazed that about 15% of the current passengers opted to fly home early rather than "kick back" for a few extra sea days... Oh well... I'm ready for my annual "Pilgrimage" to Mexico between Thanksgiving and Christmas... I did read a post yesterday from the current cruise that said the ship was fully decorated for the holidays... Wonder if they'll "deck the halls" with Peanut Butter Cookies?

    Vaya con Locos

i was under the impression some work will have to be done in San Francisco when they arrive on 12/10. if they leave the repairs for another time, possibly the 12/10 sailing may miss a (few) ports? or if they do the repairs first, maybe the departure may be delayed?

  6. I've been enjoying your blogs about the trip. We were on the same cruise on the Crown last year about this time. Besides the amazing ports, the best time was on the relaxing 8 sea days on the way back to LA. Our good friends, Janet and Stan Blander are on board with you. Have a great rest of the cruise. Are you the same CC Crain who sells short wave radios?

    Marty

marty, i am also friends with the Blanders and their traveling companions are my cousins. that is why i am following this thread.

  7. Just got back from the Meet and Greet. It was nice to put some faces with the names. It was held in the Wheelhouse Bar and with over 300 signed up, I had my doubts but while it was crowded, it was manageable. The waitstaff came around dispensing samples of Salty Dog fare. We tried the lobster mac, the cheeseburger slider and the beets. Loved the mac and slider and Joyce said the beets were good as well.

Dinner last night was another delight. Seems to us that the food is as good as ever and everything we have tried, breakfast (eggs benedict) lunch (seafood fritto misto and dinner (Italian night last night; veal scallopini and penne) has been very good.

Tonight is the new show, Magic To Do, and we will probably take it in. We don't usually do many shows but this one promises to be a winner. Joyce scooped a few bucks in the casino last night and I held my own at Texas Hold 'em.

Seas were a bit bumpy the first two days but not bad today. Temps have been in the low 70's. Tonight is the first formal night and also on tap is the Captain's welcome champagne waterfall. We'll be there and will enjoy a glass of bubbly with the master of the vessel.

    So long for now.

    Harry

did you guys all get the notice that the hours for Pago Pago on the 31st have changed? i have friends on your sailing, and got the notice after they left saturday. instead of 10-7 it is now 7-5.

  8. I have found this to be the case for the last couple years. At first it really annoyed me, but now I have learned it will not be whatever I see on the website but will be what ever the ship wants it to be. I just wait and look at my cruise card when I get onboard. I think all the ships pretty much have gone to 5:30 or 5:45 for early seating or both using 2 different dining rooms. I have not seen 6:00 in a very long time.

thank you, i will pass this along to them.

  9. Not exactly sure what you mean here...but if you're asking where you go after you've eaten at all the restaurants once, you just repeat them in the sam order. Of course, you can go go to specialty dining if your choose.

I think I read that the menus will change once mid-cruise.

yes, that is exactly what i was asking. i also think i saw that (for example) SILK will have some non asian foods for people like my DH. who only likes plain american food. ;)

    thank you, of the seas!!!

  10. MDT was deck 3? Does deck 3 have less seating capacity that it did before the drydock? Or, perhaps MTD is starting to outnumber traditional on this ship?

MTD is deck three because when traditional fills up (in advance) MTD is all that is available. from deck 4 and 5 you used to be able to look down and se the captains table. it is not visable from up above now.

after you get your number of nights for rotational, what do they give you? pay dining?

don't know if i mentioned i am asking these questions based on quantum/anthem because i am looking at Harmony. not oasis or allure.

  11. The three decks are still open. On the Allure they´ve changed the chandelier.

The decoration is similar to the Quantum class ships but a bit less. As for Silk there are those big chairs for the larger tables. There are only a few tables with a Lazy Suzan. Only on the back walls there are some decorative element. The rest are curtains which were mainly open on our cruise.

    steamboats

the second week we had a lazy susan table. it was way too big and those big chairs were horrible. too heavy to move to get in and out.

  12. Hi all.....I need some clarification.

We are going to be on the Oasis in a few weeks and have late dining, we are a party of 2, but requested a large table.

Do we get to choose which dining room we want to eat in?

Will we be with the same tablemates and wait staff each night?

    Thanks!

i was on Oasis twice 2 and 3 weeks ago. late seating traditional. we were in silk (deck 5) both times. deck 3 (american icon) was MTD and deck 4, i don't remember what it was.

  13. Thank you so much for posting this :). I was starting to get confused with all the rotating :D :p. It appears that Choice will suit us better (unsure if it will cater to our family group of 7 ), but I'll check out the link. Thanks again.

if you have rotating and your nite is in Silk, everybody must want asain food because that is all that will be available.

  14. I'm on the Rotterdam 14 day to North Cape (Norway) in May. According to this, we should have 3 formal, but my travel agent tells me it is only 2. How is the best way of going about finding out the REAL amount?

it should be on your e-docs.
