I agree about your statement" For anyone with poor sight, plain sunglasses probably won't be useful" but my husband was desperate on that last cruise. His eye sight is probably not as bad as yours, but he did risk some seeing for the sunglasses because of the sun hurting his eyse so much.

I have found some of the things people have listed to be great, and then other things, I have bought and never used.
One of the things that I don't recall seeing is sunglasses. For those of us who do not wear glasses it is pretty much a given to bring a pair. But on a cruise last year to the Caribbean, my DH (who wears prescript glasses) really needed a pair of sunglasses for the ocean. He doesn't have script sunglasses but the sun down there is so bright he really was in dire need to find a pair.
We finally found a drug store where he had to pay a fairly big amont for a pair of sun glasses to wear for the day. I would suggest to buy a couple of pairs of cheap dollar store glasses. That way if you need them great, and if you don't you have lost very little.
Just a thought.

If there is a flea market near you, you can often find the pop up hampers there, for a few bucks.

I am new to Princess, there will be six of us four adults and 2 19 year old boys going on the Emerald on Nov 21st. (8 days woo hoo) anyways. We have cruised Carnival 10+,, what will I see different.. what can I expect, what is the International Cafe... Did I read correctly that you go to a dining room to eat on embarkation day, not the buffet. Give it to me,, tell me what to look forward to. Please and thanks.
