Sailed on her for our 25th anniversary in 1994. Visited Bermuda back when ships docked at Front Street and Saint George. Captain was Leif Otto Bang and Cruise Director was Kyle Dodson. Quite a thrill entering the narrow channel. She was a great ship and much missed.

Another advantage of a TA is when there is a problem (Flight changes, weather, etc.), a good TA is invaluable.

Judith:
All of us on Cruise Critic mourn with you. Although we never met in person, we came to know Trainman through his posts. I will think of him at breakfast on our February cruise. He will be missed.

We sailed on Grandeur over New Year's Eve 1996. It was her third cruise. The Cruse director was Ray Rause and his assistant was Noel Sipos. The highlight was renewing our acquitace with Ray who was cruise director on the Statendam for our first cruise in 1979. We will also never forget chatting with Noel before the New Year celebration.
Grandeur is an old friend. We have sailed on her many times since, especially now that she is based in the nearby port of Baltimore.

If you have traditional seating/dining, and are planning to not eat in the MDR, its a courteous gesture to the staff to let them know you aren't eating there. Often the staff will wait a bit until everyone is at the table to start taking orders, etc. It also allows them to better manage the flow, and possibly pick up an additional table or such (so they make more money in tips maybe).
Its not required, but courteous.
Also, if you have traditional seating/dining, and are planning to not eat in the MDR, its a courteous gesture to let others at the table know you aren't eating there. That way they will not wait for you.

Any idea what happened to Mattiass Persson? We sailed with him on Grandeur in January when he was newly promoted to captain. Enjoyed his captain's corner.

I would avoid cabins under the galley. They can be a bit noisy.

Thanks Donna. We enjoyed being with him on Legend in 2013.

On our cruise in August, Captain Loy told us he would be back on 15-Nov-12.

TY Sir! I thought 8-25 might be the rotation date! You wouldn't happen to know if Capt Olav returned do you?
Don't know for sure but did hear elsewhere that ExOS continues to have the oldest and the youngest captains in the fleet.

Hi Karen:
We just returned from ExOS. Captain Henrik told us that his rotation will end at the end of the current Bermuda cruise. He said he will be back on board on 15-Nov-12.
