  1. We sailed on Grandeur over New Year's Eve 1996. It was her third cruise. The Cruse director was Ray Rause and his assistant was Noel Sipos. The highlight was renewing our acquitace with Ray who was cruise director on the Statendam for our first cruise in 1979. We will also never forget chatting with Noel before the New Year celebration.

Grandeur is an old friend. We have sailed on her many times since, especially now that she is based in the nearby port of Baltimore.

  2. If you have traditional seating/dining, and are planning to not eat in the MDR, its a courteous gesture to the staff to let them know you aren't eating there. Often the staff will wait a bit until everyone is at the table to start taking orders, etc. It also allows them to better manage the flow, and possibly pick up an additional table or such (so they make more money in tips maybe).

    Its not required, but courteous.

Also, if you have traditional seating/dining, and are planning to not eat in the MDR, its a courteous gesture to let others at the table know you aren't eating there. That way they will not wait for you.
