We enjoyed our day at Mullet Bay last week. Rosie’s is still there though the structure was destroyed. She has picnic tables and was BBQing ribs and serving rice and salad and also drinks from a cooler. There is a portapotty. Chairs or umbrellas are 5.00 each. We took the public bus there and back.
Where and how do you get the public bus? How much is the cost and did you have any problems getting back? Thank you

Galveston Limo!!!
We are arriving at Houston Hobby and will take the Galveston Limo shuttle from the airport to the Country Inn and Suites and will return to Houston Hobby being picked up at the cruise port upon return to Galveston after our cruise.
Total cost $40 per person when you book on line. (the hotel wanted $95 for the two of us just for a ride to the hotel).
Without a doubt, the cheapest transportation to and from Galveston.

To the Bufadora--- take the shuttle into town for $2, they offer a bus to the blowhole for $15/pp. Otherwise it's $20/pp.
Where can we catch the shuttle from the ship?

I keep seeing posts about doing the water taxi's on your own. Could someone please tell us where the water taxi is from the terminal. We will be on the Carnival Glory in early Nov. Thanks

SAS transportation was suppose to pick us (2 of us plus 2 other couples) up at 11 and when they were not there we called only to be yelled at. They said that the email stated that pick up started at 11 and that they would be there at 11:15. Then one of the other couples got a call from the driver that he would be getting there "sometime after 11:30". There was another company there and one of the other couples asked them about their shuttle. They would be there in less then 10 minutes and charge $3 less pp. The other couples wanted to use them so I called SAS as a courtesy and left a message to inform them that we were going with the other company. Not more then one minute later I got a call from the company owner telling me that my return reservation was cancelled and that I had no right to steal his customers. I tried to explain that they were late and the others wanted to leave then, but he just kept yelling and screaming at me. Never again

We booked with a "Guarantee cabin rate" for a cruise this coming weekend and still haven't gotten an assigned cabin. If you have booked a guarantee rate, when did you get you assigned cabin? Thanks for the info.

Great day trip Rich, that's the best way to get to STJ. I would recommend Sapphire over Trunk for snorkeling, although Trunk is beautiful and other more secluded bays on STJ are good for snorkeling. For off-the-beach snorkeling most people choose Sapphire, and for off-the-boat the cays off STJ.
:) Just our opinion though :)
Either way, you can't go wrong snorkeling in those waters!

Trunk bay on St John is the best for snorkeling. We jumped on a taxi to Red Hook and a taxi to Trunk Bay once you get to St John. The cost was about $50pp round trip. The excision from the ship was $89pp and they were only there for a little over an hour and then went shopping for an hour.

We will be on the Carnival Freedom on 4/24 in port from 7 - 4. We have previoulsy done an island tour and went to Coki beach afterwards. This time we want to venture to St. John. Our plan is to make the 8 am ferry and go to Trunk Bay. Do you think it would be possible for us to catch the 7:30 am ferry? We are one of those couples that will be waiting in line 15 mins before they let us off so we are 1st off the ship and don't waste a minute while in port.
Our on board time will be 3:30 with the ship leaving at 4, should we take the 2 pm ferry or 3 pm ferry back to be safe, but have as much time on St. John? We are not into snorkling so we just want an awesome beach and sceanery. How much time should we leave Trunk before the ferry departs? Do they ever fill up? If we do the 2 pm ferry we should have about 4 hours of beach time - is this good? Also is there anything else to see on the island like a view stop that we could get the taxi driver to take us to that is close to Trunk Bay or Cruz Bay? If for some reason Trunk is busy then Cinnamon is our backup.
If for some reason the ship is delayed, etc. we will go to Sapphire on STT. Thanks for your help. This will be the 1st time we will be doing a ferry and we are also planning to do it in Tortola to visit the baths. I might have a nervous breakdown on the cruise trying to make sure we make the times, but have enough time to explore.
You won't make the 7:30 ferry. The taxi doesn't want to leave the port until they are pretty full. We were on the Freedom in Feb and because the time difference (as the island is one hour ahead) we just barely made the 9am ferry. Once we got to St John's there were taxi's are right there and they will take you to Trunk. We left at 1:15 to get the 2pm ferry. They say that sometimes the 3pm ferry is always packed and so was the 2pm ferry. This way wyou will still have a little bit of time to shop at port.

Does anyone know what the price of the taxi from Havensight cruise terminal to the Red Hook ferry is going to be lately? Plus the cost of the taxi to Truck bay once we get to St John? We will be there next month. Thanks

I was reading that in Skagway they have a walking tour that is offered by the Parks Dept. It is about an hour tour of the city. They leave from the vistors center (2nd and Broadway) four or five times a day and best of all, its FREE:D.

Disabled Vet and Purple Heart parking at Galveston
in Gulf Coast Departures

We have parked at the terminal parking every time we cruise and never have had to pay for parking with my DV plates. That is one good thing about cruising out of Texas, Free parking for disabled vets!
