  1. The last picture was taken at Flydalsjuvet. You must hike down from the view point a little bit to get access to where my husband stood / jumped.

Lots of wonderful hiking trails in Geiranger. Check out trip advisor for recommendations. The Norwegian king and queen did a hike in Geiranger with their family to celebrate their wedding anniversary. How norwegian is that!

  2. Our family of four just toured Norway this past August for 3 weeks. We did a road trip + air. Here are some of my suggestions.

Oslo: The cityscape itself isn't as impressive as Paris or Rome. We enjoyed the tour of the city hall (10AM), Fram museum, Norwegian cultural museum (a little disappointing), of course the national gallery (the scream!), and the vigeland sculpture park.

Bergen: The fish market! super expensive though. bergin1-XL.jpg

Olden: The hike to the glacier is super-easy. The lake itself is breathtaking. We stayed in one of the cute cabins by the lake and loved rowing in the lake.

Stavanger: pretty easy hike to the pulpit rock. about 2 hrs up. must hike up to be above the pulpit rock for an amazing view

Flam: beautiful, but Geiranger is even more gorgeous.

  3. Our family of four just spent 3 weeks in Norway this past August. We did a road trip so I don't know if my experiences apply to your situation.

For Stavager: The hike up from the starting point is about 2hrs, leisurely. Easy hike with occasional steeper sections. Don't need a guide. My son who was 8 did it with ease. When you get to the pulpit rock, must hike up just a little further and you get an amazing view of the pulpit rock against the fjord. IMG_4099-XL.jpg

  4. Thanks for the info, Terry. We're Will and Joyce from Austin, TX. We just booked the Aug 11 Royal Caribbean 11 night baltic cruise last week. We have two kids, ages 9 and 11, and both sets of our parents are joining us too. Katherine from Anastasia has been wonderful to work with us to customize our 8 person private tour. The price is incredible -- $148 pp. However, she asked me to pay the full amount up front now. I'm not too comfortable with that, not at all. What was your experience?
