  1. We placed a bid on an upgrade to Haven for an April cruise on the Breakaway. The cruise already looks pretty full. So, I assume others are bidding and I'm not sure if we will get it. However, I'm trying to understand whether we are entitled to all perks of the Haven if our bid is accepted, or if people who originally paid full price for Haven have additional perks? Also, we already have shore excursion credit and unlimited internet and it's my understanding that we don't lose that if our bid is accepted.

  2. We got the email about bidding on an upgrade on the Breakaway. We are in a mini suite w/ a balcony and they gave us the option of bidding on a room in the Haven. I wouldn't bid more than $500 per person. Is it worth it? Would we get a room at that rate? I'm wondering if it's worth potentially $1000 more to sail in the Haven? We will be traveling with a little kid, fwiw.

  3. We have a cruise planned to Bahamas and FL on the Breakaway in April. It looks like the ship will be pretty full. I am wondering how crowded the ship will be? How long of a wait should we expect for dinner in the complimentary restaurants? Will the buffet be packed? Will it be hard to get a lounge chair on sea days? Fwiw, we have a 5 year old and we eat early. We will likely be eating lunch by noon and dinner at 5:30.

  4. We booked a 2017 NYC to Bermuda cruise on the Breakaway. We will have a 5 yo with us at the time. We booked a mini suite with a balcony and now I'm feeling a little concerned about the safety of having a balcony with a 5 yo. In 2015, we sailed on the Gem and changed our stateroom to an oceanview, due to these concerns. I found the oceanview to be a bit small for the three of us and the sleeping arrangements were way too cozy. Anyway, am I being too nervous worrying about the balcony? I just want to hear about other people's experiences and opinions. Thanks

  5. Some of the shows you can just show up to see. But, many of the more popular ones, like Rock of Ages or the Pajama Jam, require an advance booking or you risk missing the show if it sells out. I didn't see an option to do it on the website, even though I was able to make all dining reservations there. I assumed I have to do it on the ship? But maybe a more experienced cruiser know that for sure? I've only been on one other ncl cruise and it was awhile ago.

  6. A few years back, we went on a 7 night cruise on the Gem. I remember that at one point during the cruise, they offered a discounted rate on laundry. Basically, they gave you a bag to fill and they would launder all clothes in the bag for a flat rate. Do they still do this and, if so, do they do it on 6 night cruises too? We are leaving on the Gem for a 6 night cruise soon and I'm wondering. Thanks!

  7. Thanks so much for this information! It was really helpful to see the photos too, Essiesmom! Also, we would consider getting a verandah. But, I am a little concerned about my child being able to climb over the railing. I know the chances of that are low, but it would just make me nervous having a balcony with a young child.

  8. Hi! My husband and I are thinking about booking a cruise with our 4 year old son. We have been on NCL before but are interested in a Bermuda cruise with Celebrity. We were thinking of booking an oceanview stateroom, but the website doesn't really make clear how well it could accommodate 3 people. It looks like there is only one bed. Do some rooms have fold out couches? I am just curious if this would be comfortable or if the room would be too small for us, and what the sleeping arrangement would be. Thanks

  9. We are taking a cruise out of NYC From June 6-13 on Norwegian, to Portland, ME, St John and Halifax. I am wondering if the pools are typically open at that time on these cruises or if we should expect not to use the pool? A few years a go, we took an Adriatic cruise in May on Norwegian and it was definitely too cold and the pools were closed. I'm just wondering if I should expect the same this time around. Thanks.

  10. I recently booked a cruise on the Gem and I noticed that this luncheon/comedy show was available. I would love to do something like this. However, I am traveling with my husband and 3 yo and it's at noon when the kids club is closed. The show is only offered to people over 18, and I would never take a 3 yo to a show like that regardless.

My husband isn't that interested in the show. He would just have gone to make me happy. I am wondering if I will feel out of place it I go alone. Has anyone here been to the show. Is sitting with friends and participating with others you're with a part of it? I would love to go but don't want to feel awkward if I go alone. Thanks.
