  1. We are headed here for the third time. One of our favorite stops. We loved to go to Royal Palms Beach Resort on 7 mile. Love it. However, it has permanently closed!!!!! Sooo mad. Had nice beach ok snorkeling for kids and food and drink. Wasn’t big but was cozy. We don’t want to go to a big resort unless we have to. I’m asking if anybody that has been there like us or through my description know a similar beach resort like it? We want showers, food and drink on 7 mile.

sea Grapes beach still open and if so any good? I can’t find info on it. Thank you

  2. Mods please feel free to relocate this post to the proper area. I wasn’t sure because it’s concerning multiple ports of call and I didn’t want to spam post each island message board. Here’s my questions if anybody can help.

Hope some good recommendations. Going on Freedom again in March. 3rd time on this ship. First time southern Caribbean. I can’t find info easy on cruise critic but this site is so busy with good info hard to locate. . So I’ll try here. Anyways....I’m traveling with wife and 3 daughters 17,15 and 6. My oldest is bringing a friend. We are going to Antigua St. John’s, St. Thomas(only port on this cruise I been to so I know it), st Lucia, Barbados and St Kitts. My questions are these...we want a good relaxing beach day that also has snorkeling near by. We want another more active beach day for the teens that has a floaty playground in the water like Cozumel paradise beach. Finally which  of these island have the best non beach activity for a family. We don’t want to goto the beach every port. Thanks!! I know that’s a lot.

  3. Drinks were 8-12 bucks. Beers lower and most drinks around 8 bucks. I got drink package for about 44 bucks a day. So if you think you will drink 6-8 or more drinks a day then ya get it. I certainly do. The drinks are very light btw. I usually have a mimosa at breakfast, 2 beers or foofie drinks at the pool, 2 glasses of wine at dinner then a few scotches at dinner.

  4. I wasn't able to use my OBC until I was on board for whatever reason. When I checked in and got seapass they handed me a little card saying I had $100 OBC. It's ON board credit meaning you can only use it when you are ON board I guess. I bought an Internet package and drink package prior to cruise but it was put on my credit card not taken from OBC. I could be wrong but I couldn't figure out how to apply it prior to cruise. Side note I think I bought my stuff before OBC showed in cruise planner.

  5. As for disembarkation, we like to do the self assist, i.e. bag draggier routine because you can depart the ship anytime your are ready to roll. Great observations about the folks eating on the floor below, I'll add the lady at the 7 O'clock position had the stuff on her side of the table (butter dish, salt and pepper shakers, etc) lined up in front of her. Also, I would like to add I'm not a happy camper about this new format.

Kindly explain self assist vs non self assist Harry or another kind person please.

  6. We went to Paradise Beach last year and loved it!! But they did charge an additional $15 to use the water toys. They gave a bracelet and there was a staff member checking out at the toys. But still totally worth it! My husband and sons got the bracelets. I was happy to just sit in a lounge chair and read! Great for $3 and then we had assigned staff who brought me cold beer! We are planning on that but I read a few things that made me worry. People complaining water was dirtier, sand was fake, lots of seaweed and gunk and the floaties were in bad shape. Your thoughts?

  7. We love Cozumel. Since we've been there many times, we've started trying different beaches. We've been to Nachi Cocum (nice but we don't drink enough to make it worthwhile); Chankanaab Park (nice, but we didn't know there was a beach there); and Paradise Beach -- we loved it! Only $3.00/person to get in, which included two lounge chairs and palapa...and use of all the giant water inflatables. They just want you to spend $10/person on food/drink. Not a problem. There was also an awesome, multi-level pool. We didn't want to leave, but we always head back to the ship a couple of hours before sailaway.

When you get off ship do you just find transportation and tell them to take you to Paradise Beach? Are there "areas" to be dropped off at? We have 4 cruise ships in port on our day in Cozumel.

  8. Harry, just to interject about the port area and the dolphin swim there.

While we did not do the dolphin swim there, we did walk past the area on our way back to the ship after our excursion, as I love dolphins and wanted to see them. The area there is pretty small ( as you probably know) and pictures could be taken quite easily of people that you know if they are doing the dolphin swim. There was also a rope bridge above the area that you could walk across.

Don't know if the person whose family will be doing this might want to try to hang out with the younger daughter and try to snap a few pictures or if that would be something that he thinks wouldn't work out. There were tons of people watching when we came back in the afternoon.

  9. Similar to the Cozumel pier where they drop you off way on the far side of the shops and you must walk past all the shops just to be on the road back to the ship. All part of the not so subtle way to try to get you to buy things last minute on way back to the ship.

I believe the cruise shopping guy said people can swim for free at the pool as they are for cruise ship passenger’s usage, but obviously we didn’t try it. Somebody with firsthand knowledge can confirm or deny that claim. Guess this would be a cheap way to spend some time off the ship if you don’t feel like venturing too far but that’s not my style. I didn’t fly all the way there and spent thousands of dollars just to swim here – although the view is nice. I want to venture off to see more of the local sites.

Harry, question. At the costa maya port my wife and two teen girls are doing the dolphin swim. Bucket list for wife. I also have a three year old girl. Her and I were just going to hang out in the area and swim in the pool(5000 dollar swim lol). My question is, was there a sandy beach area near also? I am kind of limited as to what to do for a dad and 3 yr old girl. The dolphin swim is about an hour so not sure.

Unless I missed a few pages your cruise went to costa maya first then Cozumel? We leave April 9 and ours is Cozumel them costa maya.

    Nice review sir!
