What do folks suggest for optimum viewing of Glacier Bay if you are solo and cannot afford a balcony or suite cabin. Ocean view would be affordable but the defects and dirt on the glass might be unfortunate. I presume the open decks are crowded. Are there any other secluded but open places where one can stand for a good view, depending on the ship, however.

Yes, Monday sailing. Thanks for the info. Hope it goes.

Is there any change in the itinerary for Vista for the sailing starting this Sunday? Friends are booked but have not heard from Oceania.

Worst pasta sauce without any herbs or flavor. Too much Indian food with spicy flavor designed to work on the gut at an inopportune moment. Enjoyed the congee at breakfast, but it could have had stronger chicken flavor. A nice alternative to eggs and bacon.

I want to visit both the DDay beaches and Mount St. Michel as separate excursions from my May TA on RCCL. Which port is the most sensible and complete to do these sights as individual excursions? Thanks for the help.

I had a credit to use from a previous cancel so wanted to use this up. I did not check the price on Hampton site, but relied on Hotel.com to give me proper info--never again.

I booked at Hampton Inn, Linden, with my preferred amenities of included breakfast and airport shuttle. I find out now that the shuttle has not been running for many months with no change in the advertised amenity list on Hotels.com and booking.com. I am rather pissed at the false advertising here. The hotel says they are "attempting to correct" their information. Baloney they are. How much would a taxi be to this property? Thanks for the help.

Royal offers a shuttle. How can I find out the details of where, when, etc . and sign up.

I booked an ocean view a few days ago, and Rosie and I are neighbors!! So thankful for the helpful posts. Looking forward to the experience of TA.
-
Thanks so much for all of the encouraging posts. Very helpful!!

The only cabins on 8 and 9 are so far forward that sea movement going TA might be risky. ? if everything is sold out or being reserved.
-
For some reason the ocean view category is minimal and relegated to deck 3. Is this peculiar to this ship? Agents are very reluctant to assist in the booking of this ship--cannot imagine why, since the sailing date is one year from now. I need some thoughts as to why I am being pushed into a guarantee room by agents.

I was a solo traveler on the Dubai to Athens cruise March 10 to March 24, 2019, along with Aussie Cruzer, other friendly Canadian, Australian, UK passengers, and English speakers from many countries. I would not hesitate to recommend this cruise for being relaxing, historically interesting, uncrowded, not to mention the fabulous cuisine and beverage options. I participated in Aussie's Kahsab's private tour but did DIY elsewhere.
You might check TripAdvisor for more posts in their cruise section, formerly being diverted to CruiseCritic, but now taking questions and answers on their site. A search will give a number of past Pullmantur posts.

Save traveling to all. I leave on Tues. Hopefully our epic snows let me out. See you onboard.

Yes, well worth revisiting. Thanks.

Duncan,
Would it be ok if I contact Dolphin Tours to be added to your group for Khasab tour? I referred back to your earlier reply and have changed my mind about the dhow tour. The MSC group was generally enthusiastically favorable. Thanks.
-
I also checked in and see a range of times for check-in; no specific hour.
I also began reading MSC posts on Cruisecritic for tips on our ports. I found some important information for Dubai, etc. that I had not known. Thanks to their posters and answers.

Liz et al,
Just booked (to pay the driver) the OceanAir Travel tour from our cruise terminal to Abu Dhabi (1/2 day), on March 10. Still up in the air regarding Burj Khalifa and will wait some days to see what Accuweather predicts--was some question of cloudiness during our days in Dubai
-
Thanks for the heads up--just signed up. Have you seen any comments regarding the facilities for ship-board computers, access, connections or lack thereof? Are you bringing your own tablet?
-
I am wondering if there are any church services on board for Sundays.

Aussie cruzer
I apologize for not answering sooner. I am firming up my choices for Dubai, Khasab and Salalah, and I did notice some price raising, which is not good. From Dubai I am doing a 1/2 day tour to Abu Dhabi from the cruise terminal, probably on March 10.
I have found extensive discussions on Pullmantur Horizon and ports of call on Tripadvisor--well worth scanning and reading pertinent topics. TA also has some good posts on visiting Muscat (easy to DIY) and, of course, visits to Dubai. Khasab and Salalah are still iffy, and I am probably going to see what tours will lurk at the dock when we get there.

Thanks so much for your review. I am looking forward to the March Suez cruise.
Can you write some tips regarding the port tours, either sponsored by Pullmantur or private? Were there private operators waiting for prospective clients at the ports--first come first served? Did you arrange your own private tours prior to boarding? Did you partake in any of the Pullmantur tours?
Some of us that write on this board have attempted to contact English speakers to make sure that there are some commentary in English on Pullmantur tours. Are there any UK sites that are favored for Pullmantur reviews and comments so that we can contact any other sailors?
Again, thanks so much.

I will book Mystic Muscat but my final payment is not due until Dec. 29--rather wait to book until that date.
I did get confirmation from Renato at VTG that passengers can get off the ship at will on March 10, just be sure to be back in time for sailing (of course!)
For Khasab, I would rather prefer a land tour of the area--I do admit that $30 is a bargain.
The tour provided by Oman Day Tours that I previously posted is fairly pricey, although cheaper than the Pullmantur option. Not sure about this one.
-
Yes, I plan to book the Mystic Muscat tour also.
I just set up our cruise on the Cruise Critic Roll Call section in hopes of snagging more English speakers. It is not the best section since it is lumped with "All others".
I have found a private company that will pick up at the cruise terminal and will hopefully use them for the 1/2 day to Abu Dhabi (after checking with VTG agent). I did not find any suitable Pullmantur options for the 9th or 10th. I am arriving late on the 6th so can tour locally myself.

Thanks to all who gave me timely and expert tips for optimum viewing in Glacier Bay. So great!!!!
