  1. Hi

Sorry we didn't see this post earlier. We are on this cruise leaving 2/01/2018 and have booked with HappyFish. They accepted a booking for just 2 people without any query. I haven't paid anything up front - paying cash on the day - so hopefully its all ok. Did you get something booked?

Hi is it same tour as they told me min 9 persons and no one else had shown interest as at 23 December? They offered another tour of the Rio Dolce canyon but wasn't really suitable for us so I just booked the castle tour from Tui to be on safe side. It can still be cancelled if give them notice on ship.

  2. Just back from Exotic Explorer cruise. Nothing to worry about. You'll love it.

Roatan (Honduras) port was place called Mahogany Bay. Gorgeous beach, and small centre for tourists with shops/bars (selling usual souvenir tat!). Certainly nothing to worry about - all very friendly and welcoming.

Due to a storm closing in we didn't do the second Honduras port - and went to Mexico instead (Costa Maya)

    (y):D

  3. In Belize we are doing a private tour with King David Castillo Belize Tours (localguideinbelize@gmail.com) and he has excellent scores on TripAdvisor. 390 reviews with 98% giving excellent. The tour we are doing is a private tour so slightly more expensive than the ship but exclusive to us and personalized to us. His standard group tours compare favourably with ship prices but his group tours would be a maximum of 11 people.

For Trujillo it seems as if everything is within walking distance although there appears that some enterprising local offers a 'hop on hop off' tour for $20 and Roatan the beach is next to the dock again walkable or via the chair ride.

Thanks for that I will check that tour out, yes I realise that Roatan and Trujillo are walkable and will do so despite the oddball posts added by a self confessed feather ruffler

  4. Thanks for that I would be worried too if I thought a site may be dodgy. I have had 3 comments on facebook indicating an interest but doesnt look like I will reach 9 persons so may well just book the ship tour to the castle. I dont like leaving things to last minute and was aware of the Tourism authority being on hand in the shed. Can you tell me who you have in Belize as I couldnt find anything there?

  5. Anyone interested in doing an independent trip in Guatemala to Quirigua Mayan Ruins & Jade Museum on 5/1/18? I researched until I'm blue in face looking for reputable tours and happyfishtravel.com have good feedback from North American cruisers. I contacted them about this particular tour and was advised minimum 9 persons needed and its $65pp (about £49). We are the only 2 so far. They meet you at Santo Tomas cruise terminal and appear very reliable. They do other tours as well and I assume the same criteria applies. The link is http://www.happyfishtravel.com/…/quirigua-mayan-ruins-jade-…. I don't think the web enquiry form worked for me so I tried again I got a reply from the email address:kleiberth@happyfishtravel.com if anyone is interested try that email address firstsafe_image.php?d=AQCKPNMeUFtaXp32&w=476&h=249&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.happyfishtravel.com%2Fimages%2FBanerSantoTomas%2Frio-dulce.jpg&cfs=1&upscale=1&fallback=news_d_placeholder_publisher&_nc_hash=AQCv8JtS9lP0AC7p

  6. Been in Edinburgh watching Hearts hammer Rangers :D so a bit late on the board I hadn't realised the flight time change as well. We are in a party of 8 from Fife to Hamilton and all flying from Glasgow. I have already organised parking and another couple had booked to stay overnight so moving wouldn't be an option. On the plus side I'm told that the 20kg and 7kg bag allowances remain, although I'm still annoyed at not being told by Thomson not quite as bad as them changing my Cuba cruise last year knocking off 2 ports and adding a day at sea without telling us:mad:. Same as this time I found out on Cruise Critic.

  7. Know how you must feel and presumably you have no other airports you can transfer too, looks like it is becoming the norm now.

Sent from my VF-895N using Forums mobile app

Edinburgh is always my 1st choice as it's closer but there was no Edinburgh flight available when the cruise was booked. There is now but its £218 extra:eek: plus have booked parking and there are 8 of us going now. Better not be a problem with luggage allowance:mad:

  8. I was punted around when I phoned and each department saying another dealing. There is tendering problems at Santiago de Cuba and Holguin I was told but I had already done my research and saw that there is major redevelpoment going on at Santiago de Cuba harbour so why didnt Thomson know about this when first advertising the cruise:confused: Very poor on there part and worse not informing us, it's back in hands of my TA again.

  9. Hi Keith.

It is a long time since I've seen you on the forum. I think you were on the Majesty in 2012 when we were on, although our paths didn't cross.

I hope you and your family are well.

Little Nell, this is off topic but I see you are on the Eclipse soon, we did that itinerary at start of this month on the Eclipse you will not be disappointed by the ship or the cruise. It hasn't put us off Thomson as we have other cruises lined up on the Dream. Edy in the Martini bar likes us Scots!:D

  10. Thanks for replies, I thought it would be up the escalator as I have been in and out the terminal to go to Santa Ponsa a couple of times mid cruise and don't recall seeing any sort of Thomson check in desk but just needed some reassurance, thanks. Interesting that taxi could possibly go through to embarkation building, was going to get a 3 journey quote from Janerbus who I have used before so will add this to my email.

We are staying 3 nights at Club Santa Ponsa AI, the difference between the Thomson fly cruise price and Jet2 flights from EDI plus Santa Ponsa was only £50 or so. We want to have a look at the family Villa we are renting next year for our joint 60th celebrations which is near Club Santa Ponsa plus we want to visit our old chums Stuart and Viv at the Glasgow bar near the square.:D There will be me, Sandra along with my stepson Gavin and his bride of 4 weeks Danielle:)

  11. Always did fly cruise in past and have sailed from Palma several times with Thomson but this August we are doing 3 nights Santa Ponsa first before going on the Dream,so are cruise only. Will get a taxi to the terminal but can anyone advise what happens when we arrive, is there a 'Thomson' desk for independent travellers in the main terminal building or do we just show our paperwork to the security guard to progress to the ship as you would do with your boarding pass when in port?

    Ta in advance.

    Joe

  12. You can only use OBC on board (hence its name!). Hopefully you can still do the transaction on board at the original difference price.

Celebrity are awful at keeping "branch offices" up to date so don't be too hard on the UK office - though yes, be hard on Miami

Yes hopefully that will be the case. The poor girl at Celebrity was bamboozled it's a shame they didn't inform them before it got out on facebook and cruise forum I know what it's like when you get phone calls and you don't have the answer or know what's going on. She did say Miami prob to blame.

  13. Husband just phoned Celebrity UK who claim to know nothing about this increase. He also enquired about upgrading from our classic package, which was included, to premium and use our onboard credit to cover difference and was told they can't do that. A bit miffed if they are doing this and Uk office have no knowledge.

  14. Hello

Whilst I realise that the current UK offer of All Inclusive offers the "Select" drinks package, has anyone upgraded their package to the Premium or Ultimate package or am I too quick to ask this questions since this offer only came in to play on the 1st August 2014? I am presuming you should be able to do it like you can with Celebrity but wondered if anyone had done it so far.

    thanks

    Karen
