  1. We were a party of four (2 cabins) on the January 2nd outer loop sailing with a pre-cruise package in Quito. We have cruised dozens of times with several lines. Our most recent cruises have been on Azamara. This was our first experience with Celebrity, and we loved it. We were very impressed with how organized the pre-cruise transportation, touring Quito, Covid testing, and flight to Baltra were. We had only 47 passengers on board, so the service was fantastic. The ship is beautiful and has a modern resort feel. The food exceeded our expectations, and we were impressed with all of the Covid precautions. The naturalists were proficient but not as friendly and engaging as Azamara crew. Most of the interactions on board felt like "business" interactions though we did enjoy interacting with our dining servers. We never wanted for anything, and we felt safe throughout our time in Quito, on cruise excursions, and throughout the ship. The ship doctor was also very helpful in treating two people in our party (one for knee pain, the other for an eye infection). The itinerary is fantastic with a lot of options for exploring the islands, kayaking, and snorkeling. We were exhausted by the end of our week, and we all agreed that it was an extraordinary experience. Unfortunately, the last day transitioning back to Quito was a long day with hours of sitting around the airport to wait for the chartered Celebrity flight. We played cards to pass the time. The last night was spent back at the JW Marriott, where we were all tested again for Covid in preparation for our flights home. We cannot say enough about how smoothly everything went from beginning to end. Highly recommend!

If I'm not mistaken, the only real difference between Club Ocean and Owner's suites (besides a slight price difference) is the location.

Club Ocean suites are equally nice and receive the same perks as Owner’s suites.  They are slightly smaller and have less storage space in them. The price difference is insignificantly small (in my opinion).

That being said, have you sailed the AZ Owner's Suite?

My wife and I have done several cruises in Owner’s Suites.  It is the only cabin category we have sailed in on Azamara, so others may have better comparisons.

Do you feel the experience justified the price?

For us, the price is justified, but everyone needs to make that decision for themselves.  Our first several cruises, I was constrained on the amount of vacation time I had, so spending more on a cabin was an easy choice.  I’m retired now, so it is a different circumstance and I might choose a different cabin and more frequent trips.

I realize it's got the view and the cabin size is huge compared to the rest of the ship. Which deck level would be the better choice?

    We prefer deck 6.

Deck 8 is directly below the outside deck of the buffet.  Every time someone moved a chair, I heard it.

Deck 7 is very nice, but we noticed a lot of soot on the veranda.  It didn’t make it unusable, we just needed to be careful of what we touched.  This may have been an anomaly, but we experienced it.

Deck 6 is by far our first choice.  I think the veranda is slightly larger, and it is quiet.

Are there other considerations I'm not seeing?

I think having a drink on the veranda during sail away from each port is “priceless”, but just about the same experience can be had for “free” on deck 9.  There are some published perks and some “secret” perks that are nice, but the price of the room is mainly for the extra space.  The “experience” of the cruise is largely the same regardless of which cabin you choose.

    I hope this helps some.

Were there in this cruise, passengers from Brasil, Argentina or other South American countries? How did they return to their country?

    Ivi

Chilean citizens were allowed to disembark in Valparaiso. I don’t know specifically about other South American countries, but based on the announcements it sounded like Azamara was arranging flights to get international passengers home.

  5. Pursuit has pulled up anchor. We are loading the  final supplies and then will be departing Chile. As of right now there are no plans to resupply in Lima and we will be heading to Panama and then to Miami.

Eclipse is is still anchored and actively taking on supplies. Hopefully they will be departing soon as well.

  6. Chile is rapidly closing their borders and many outbound flights have been cancelled.

Azamara has assured us we will stay on the ship until we have an assured way home.  They don’t know what that plan is right now if Valparaíso falls through, but they will not abandon us.

The uncertainty is is causing some stress with some passengers, but the officers and crew are fantastic.

  7. I am currently on Pursuit headed toward Valparaíso. Captain Carl has said that we will be allowed to disembark in Valparaíso.  Fingers crossed.

While this is a disappointing end to our voyage, I will say that the always hard working crew on board has worked harder on this cruise than I have ever seen them work. They stayed friendly and cheerful even though you could see the fatigue wearing on them.

  8. If Azamara is consistent with how they treat other suites, your 12 night cruise is 1 “seven days” and your 15 night cruise is considered 2 “seven nights”. Over the course of the back to back you will receive 3 sets of benefits, but you will need to use them on the cruise where they are e earned ( you can’t store up your benefits from the first cruise to use on the second or borrow benefits from the second cruise to use on the first )

i have never been ina veranda plus category, so my response is based on my experience I a suite. Someone else may have more relevant experience.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  9. My experience traveling in a suite is that I get the suite laundry benefit, but not the LCV laundry benefit. I have never travelled in the balcony plus category, so I’m not sure it will be the same, but I suspect it is. Also, you didn’t specify how long your cruise is, but Azamara counts “per 7 night voyage” differently than I do.  If you are on a 13 day cruise, you will only get 1 bag of laundry with your room.  At 14 days, you will get the second bag.

The balcony plus specialty dining nights will be in. Addition to the nights you receive from your experience more package.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your cruise!

  10. Thanks Anne and LuAnn.  We will be on Pursuit from Lisbon to Rome, so hopefully we will see Anne on board (and maybe play some Mahjong).  I decided to pack a travel set so I know we will have a complete set on board.

    I appreciate all the responses!

  11. We are sailing three back to backs on the Azamara Pursuit this spring. Is Mahjong offered as an activity on board? Do they have the game sets available for passengers to use? I'm hoping I don't need to bring my own as that will mean sacrificing something else when I pack. :classic_blink:

  12. I will be on pursuit for a B2B2B 21 day cruise in April. I am currently 2 days worth of points short of moving to Discoverer Plus. At what point during the trip will I get the additional benefits from the new tier? Thanks!

  13. Journey - 6088? Trouble finding information... Am I looking in the wrong place? Thank you in advance.

We were on Journey in suite 6088 about 2 years ago. We loved the suite. The only issue I can remember is that the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor whenever we used it. This was right after the refurb, so it may have been resolved by now.

Our last cruise was in a 7th deck owners suite and we observed soot on our balcony frequently. We had not noticed that in suite 6088. We have booked our next cruise on the 6th deck (6091).

We would gladly sail in this suite again.

I hope this helps. If you have specific questions about the suite, I would happy to help.
