  1. Thank you both for the info...yes, the direction the taxi takes into port was my concern. We usually stay at the Renaissance and I know there's that Walgreens across the street but wasn't sure if taxi drivers take that route.

Will take your advice and let them know which ship and play it by ear.

    Thanks!

  2. Thanks Keith (we had breakfast with you once years ago in Sabatini's...with the guy and the weird horn thing outside. lol)

I'm afraid we will be SOL too. Only reason we were using EZ Air this time is it was about $80 cheaper for economy and first time ever we're flying out morning of bright and early, not to worried if we had to take a later flight but the guarantee is nice just in case.

Thank you Caribill. We're in Houston as well...this is our escape from Harvey renovations cruise. :)

Will call Princess in the morning and see what the deal is.

  3. Hi, booked with EZ Air for the first time ever last week for cruise first week of September, and paid the booking in full with the Chase United Presidential Plus credit card which allows for 2 free checked bags for the primary cardholder and one companion.

The reservation showed $0 for baggage fees as it always does when we use the card and now I just saw that the reservation has been ticketed and reflecting baggage fees now. Called United and they confirmed that there are baggage fees and the form of payment they are showing is not our credit card, assuming it's EZ Air account.

I had called last week to get seat assignments also so we wouldn't miss out on the seats we wanted before it was ticketed. The seats I had selected during the EZ Air process did not show up.

I will call EZ Air/Princess tomorrow but just wondered if this is typical and something that can be rectified through EZ Air? I don't see how they can waive UA's fees. When I called for the seat assignments I had been assured that the card was linked to our FF#'s, it would be fine, and it did show $0 fees until was ticketed.

    Thank you for any info!

  4. It is nice to see some positive comments here. I've been on the CB 4 times, but it's been several years. Last 2 cruises were Regal, and while it is prettier and the food options fantastic, I missed the layout of the CB, and it's much livelier atmosphere.

So just booked again this past week for a September cruise and was looking forward to seeing the new changes...then I saw all the negative reviews and have been a little disappointed but not too concerned as I've always felt that when you consider the massive amounts of food produced for thousands of people, I think they do a really good job.

Thanks to all for the positive comments and reviews!

  5. Actually, there might be more young adults than you think. Colleges often don't resume classes after the holidays until around MLK day (at least around here). So families with college aged kids, which includes early 20's, might well go in early January.

If the kids go to different colleges, their break weeks are often different. But they are all off in early January. We just took a family cruise like that this past January with my daughter, a niece, and a nephew who were off from college.

Yes, exactly why this one week works with us...kids are attending college in different states and this times works with both.

I booked this on Leap Day when Princess was having the sale plus $1 booking and OBC. I think we got a pretty good deal so as of now we are going.

Thank you all for your input, much appreciated!

  6. Hello, I have a cruise in mind for next January on the Regal. We have cruised many times as a family on the CB, Emerald and Crown, however, my sons very much enjoyed themselves in the teen centers at that time...due to the oldest being a Marine the last 6 years, we haven't had a real family vacation in a very long time.

Sons will be 25 and 21 at the time of this sailing the second week of January. It is about the only time we can work out everyone being out of college, work, etc...at the same time.

My concern is that there will not be too many young adults on the ship at that time to socialize with. I am quite sure we will have a great time regardless, but would welcome any insight on cruising with young 20-somethings in a slower time of year.

    Thank you!

  7. THANK YOU, DECEMBER LFK-ers!!! As of this morning I had all but convinced myself that our group would NOT continue with the LFK plan. (Had a little cancer-thingy removed from the bridge of my nose at 7:45 a.m. today  and was convinced that the previous cautionary posts and the cancer-thingy were God's signs.) These December reviews re-lit my excitement candle and my Dermatologist said I can go in the sun - just apply SPF 50 before and every 30 minutes. LFK - here we come!!! (I honestly believe it is the closest I'll ever come to experiencing Bali:p)

    Mary

I concur! I had started having worries as well but definately feel comfortable with our plans again and looking forward to this day.

Mary, please post a review after your cruise and let us know how it was. I'm glad everything is your cancer-thingy and keep that little nose covered!

    Thanks December posters!

  8. Keylimepie, I have a group of 11 friends booked for 3/12/12, when are you booked? Two ships are scheduled for that day as well.

The 12th as well! Group of 11? Wow, sounds like fun! We are on the other ship in port that day.

  9. OK, I just received a reply from Little French Key. I asked them to clarify the options for the two drinks, and also asked them if they limit guests and informed them of some reports of overcrowding. Here's the answers they sent.

"First, what is included in the two drinks that are a part of our

package? ANY SODA, BEER, OR RUM PUNCH, WATER, JUICES

Second, do you limit the number of guests that you have each day? YES

I have seen some recent reports of overcrowding there and accepting cruise line excursions. WE WERE PACKED ONE DAY ON THANKSGIVING NOV 21, 2012, WHEN IT ALSO RAINED VERY HEAVILY, ALMOST 8 INCHES IN ONE DAY, NON STOP, AND A LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT HAD RESERVED FOR NOV 22, 2012 BY MISTAKE ALSO SHOWED UP ON NOVEMBER 21, 2012 INSTEAD, WITH 4 CRUISE SHIP IN PORT OF ROATAN, A TRUE RARITY.....AND BEING THAT IT WAS THANKSGIVING, AFTER ALL,

WE DID NOT WANT TO TURN THEM AWAY FOR THEIR INNOCENT MISTAKE AND OVERSIGHT....HEAVY RAIN DID NOT HELP THE SITUATION...."

So, for me, that eases my mind and I think we will stay with our original choice to go there. There are only two ships scheduled to be in port the day we are there, and whether or not I agree with how they handled the overbooked situation recently, I don't think we'll be facing the same problem on our day in port. Will report back after our visit!

Thanks for looking into this. We are reserved there in March during Spring Break...I was starting to get a little worried after these recent reviews. I checked and we only have 2 ships in port that day as well, so hopefully no major problems with crowds. I understand them wanting to accommodate people, especially for a holiday, it just didn't go well and the weather just complicated things. A big learning experience for them I'm sure.

I'm so sorry for those of you whose day in Paradise didn't turn out as hoped. I can only imagine how disappointed you were.

  10. If you purchase just the transportation and entrance option only, then can you just purchase food from the restaurant or how does that work?

    Thanks for your help!

Ah, too late to edit...but I went back and re-read and saw that there is another boat that goes from Frenchy's 44 to the key...I was under the impression that the restaurant was on the same grounds.

Just got an email back from the owner and trying to decide on which package!
