  1. So help out a poor old Aussie.

What's so good about 5 guys.

And what's on your favorite burger, where ever it's from what makes it special.

I'm waiting for that too :p I like a good thick, juicy burger... Five Guys is actually (on their regular single), 2 thinner patties... no good pink/red, juicy center... no juice dripping down your arm :p A waste of calories if you ask me LOL

  2. I can't help with how low the price will go. Sorry. I don't think anyone will be able to predict but maybe someone will be able to at least share their experience. With less than 60 days to go, if it were me I would be monitoring how many staterooms are still available. Or I would have a plan B. Hope it all works out for you and Happy cruising.

I agree with having a Plan B, or the OP may have to change that signature :p Never know when a group is going to come along and snag the remaining space.. it can happen ;)

  3. This made me laugh out loud! :p

We always have our bottle of Captain Morgan's waiting on our desk, all wrapped up in a pretty package. If I remember correctly, last time I ordered, it asks you on line to fill in a kind of name tag: to, from, and message. I wrote a funny message on the tag for DH (sorry, a little too R-rated to repeat). :o Think I'll do the same again.

I always fill those out and get a little laugh at it... this time each of them were along the lines of "To Me, From Me, because I love me and I hope I have a great cruise" :p

  4. You can pre-order booze packages from the online fun shops. My question is this...

Do they deliver these packages upon embarkation? I know if you purchase bottles on board they don't deliver them until the last night. However, the fun shops package page makes it seem like this is something you can get in your room as a gift the first day?

    Thoughts?

Yup, when you order you choose the day you want them delivered. Always in my cabin by the time I get there.

  5. Most people who need to be in constant contact, really do not, but of course it is their choice. If for some reason, they are given vacation time, and told, they still must be in contact, then it becomes the companies responsibility for footing the bill if the expectation is above what would normally be expected.

With that in mind, you ask a question, without all the necessary details. Your friend needs to go to their companies cell phone company, and set up his phone to handle international data and phone calls. In addition, he would need to purchase a data/internet package on the ship. Yes, they can make calls on the ship, use the internet, use a computer etc. It will cost an arm and two legs. They need to determine how much they will need, and pick a data plan to fit that need, keeping in mind, that this is not inclusive tot he data plan they will use while docked.

I don't think any one person on this board will give you the answer you need. Work with the phone company to get your answer.

It actually does not cost an arm and 2 legs LOL. For those of us that run small businesses, the cost is well worth it... 120 minutes of internet for $55, not an arm and 2 legs ;) Calling back to the office can be done via Skype using Wifi. Most providers have an international packages which offer a reduced cost on calls. For instance, a package that for $60 offers unlimited text messaging, 300MB of cellular data and .50c/minute calls. All ship to shore communication can be kept within a reasonable financial limit... and can certainly help those of us that need to keep in touch, have a much better vacation. I'm not sure why people automatically assume when someone has to keep in touch with the office that it means an employer is demanding that... when many times those people are self employed and have a small business that needs to be tended to. Being able to be in touch actually allows one to be MORE relaxed when you know all is well back at home. Being connected is a small price to pay for peace of mind that your business is still operating and will be there when you return home ;)

  6. Miss port and be terrified about there is a slight chance you could have Ebola for 50% off a cruise.... nah I would pick going to going to the port.

Hopefully the passengers are educated enough to know that since the passenger who is self isolated is still not exhibiting ANY symptoms, there is NO chance they could have Ebola. Considering when she went into isolation she had no fever, and no symptoms, there is literally NO CHANCE they could have Ebola... so, there's that.

  7. It is very interesting that both Belize and Cozumel turned the Carnival Magic away and would not let the ship's other passengers come ashore, and then Carnival takes its time getting back to Galveston. I wonder if Carnival's decision not to return to Galveston early is to give U.S. officials time to decide how the ship's passengers should be debarked, especially in light of the new U.S. Ebola Czar appointed today. Will the U.S. require any health follow-up of the ship's passengers (other than the 2 people that are confined to their cabins)? It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I certainly hope everyone on the ship is healthy.

As has been stated in the article above, and by Carnival, and on the news... the ONLY passengers that weren't allowed to disembark in Belize were the lab supervisor and her travel companion.

By the time they return to Galveston, the 21 day incubation period for the worker that had been IN THE AREA of a specimen will be over, and the point will be moot if she continues to be without any symptoms.

  8. If you had quoted my entire post you wouldn't have this question

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

    Nope... still have it.

"Are you referring to the failed effort to get her back via Belize airport or is this new?

Wasn't the ship headed toward coz?

    This info may be old

    But if not

Good and take her straight to one of the 4 facilities that can handle this

But dear lord I hope this too is just a precaution and she/he is not ill or the poster just posted outdated info

  9. Good and take her straight to one of the 4 facilities that can handle this

Handle what exactly? She has not tested positive for Ebola... she is 19 days out from being present in a lab where his specimens were. It isn't known if she even handled any of them. She has no symptoms and is not sick. Send her to a facility for what?

  10. I hear ya! I do so miss those good times with some of the best folks on the planet! Time to go find that old video and relive some good times :) FYI, we will be seeing PB Tom in a few days. He was asking about Randy/Ricky. I told him he got married and sort of threw the anchor out LOL!

The video is in my siggy :D

Tell Tom hello and I am going to plan to see him soon! And yeah... Ricky jumped ship from all his friends. It's a shame :(

  11. Does Carnival require a health questionnaire to be filled out at port? Is there any thing on the questionnaire that asks if you have been in a medical situation with a potential health risk? I can't imagine the ship would allow that passenger to board with a yes answer, which leads me to think the passenger lied.

At no point has it been said that the lab supervisor handled any specimens of Duncan's... nowhere.

  12. Carnival's response... although it seems the last part of the statement is not true since the Magic has left Cozumel.

Late afternoon on Wednesday, October 15, we were made aware by the U.S. CDC of a guest sailing this week on board Carnival Magic who is a lab supervisor at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. The CDC informed us that at no point in time has this individual had any direct contact with any infected patients nor has this guest exhibited any symptoms or signs of infection for 19 days since this guest was present in the lab with testing samples. We were not aware of this situation at the time this guest embarked the ship, and the CDC deemed this individual to be low risk and cleared to travel.

We continue to be in close contact with the CDC and our medical team continues to monitor the guest. The individual remains symptom free and is not contagious. The CDC has advised us the guests and crew on board are not at risk.

Due to a change in CDC monitoring procedures yesterday the CDC requested this guest be returned home from Belize. The U.S. government did make an attempt to arrange to fly the guest home from Belize yesterday, however, was unable to finalize arrangements with the Belize government. This resulted in our delay from departing from Belize last evening. At this time, the guest remains in isolation on board the ship and is not deemed to be a risk to any guests or crew.

It is important to reiterate that the individual has no symptoms and has been isolated in an extreme abundance of caution. We are in close contact with the CDC and presently it has been determined that the appropriate course of action is to simply keep the guest in isolation on board until we return to Galveston on Sunday.

Our plan is to arrive in Cozumel this morning at 10:00 am and depart this afternoon at 6:00pm.

  13. Belize would not allow the ship to dock or anyone to disembark. They decided the health of their people took precedence. What a great thought.

A little extreme? To me, with this kind of dangerous virus, it is very reasonable!

Only 2 people were not allowed off the ship.

"A Carnival spokeswoman, however, said the ship made its scheduled visit to Belize Thursday. “Passengers were free to disembark there for the day other than the guest and her traveling companion who are in voluntary isolation.”

In its own statement Thursday, the the Belize government said it “was contacted today by officers of the U.S. Government and made aware of a cruise ship passenger considered of very low risk for Ebola…. Nonetheless, out of an abundance of caution, the Government of Belize decided not to facilitate a U.S. request for assistance in evacuating the passenger through the Phillip Goldson International Airport.”

  14. Who's spreading false rumors, you or me?

I read one thing, you read something different. Mine are rumors and yours are facts?

The news outlet that said the ship was not allowed to "dock" this morning corrected it within an hour.

"Belizean news reports stated that the cruise ship Carnival Magic was offshore after the government of Belize learned that a U.S. hospital worker on board may have been exposed to Ebola and that the Belize Coast Guard was deployed to prevent the ship from going into port. The government of Belize assured its citizens that the health-care professional “never set foot in Belize.”
