Two of us will be on and Alaskan cruise on the Century in August. One of our shore excursions ends at 6 pm, which is the time of our dinner seating for this cruise. Are we still able to eat in the main dining room (later in the evening) if we can’t make our reserved time? Thank you for sharing any similar dining/excursion time conflicts and how this is handled.

Thank you, Tiki_Man and Georg0. I appreciate the information and the tips. PG closed fins it is!

Does anyone know if the fins available to passengers on the Paul Gauguin are open-foot fins or closed-foot fins, or if both types are available?

We will be on the Tahiti – Fiji cruise in May, too. We know we can use CFP francs in French Polynesia, but can anyone advise us as to whether we should obtain (in advance of our trip) currencies for the Cook Islands (Aitutaki), Tonga, and Fiji? We will likely being using the ship excursions, so booking local tours aren't anticipated. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Dear ducklite,
I was signed up for a Huahine snorkeling trip during our vacation on the PG in 2012. Due to a brief asthma problem the morning of our excursion, I decided it would be better if I didn’t snorkel, but I enjoyed the boat trip anyway. The scenery was beautiful and our guides shared their local culture, played the guitar and sang to us, and even demonstrated how to open a coconut. (And they were funny, too!) There were also a few other passengers who did not snorkel. I really enjoyed this excursion, despite not being able to snorkel.
Best wishes for a speedy and uneventful recovery from your surgery.

Espi, I do have pictures and as soon as I figure out how to upload them to this site, I will share them with you. It's probably time I learned how to do this. Alternatively, you can email me at marylougreenfield at gmail dot com, and I can send them directly to you.

Hello Espi,
We stayed in cabin 704 on our PG cruise in 2012 and liked it so much that we booked it again for our upcoming 2014 cruise in May to Fiji.
Happy Travels!

Hello Brandibak,
You might want to check out the PG roll call thread for the same itinerary from April 2012 to see some of the excursions that were organized.
Hope this helps: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1419403

Quiet Cabin – not connecting, the closet door rattled
Balcony View - unobstructed view
Balcony Size? Normal

Any other comments? Lovely cabin. Closet doors rattled in rolling waves; we propped a sneaker from the inside of the closet against the door and that took care of the problem.
Quick Question about the Viking Homelands Cruise
in Viking Ocean
Posted
We are considering a May 2019 Viking Homelands Cruise. We are wondering what the pros/cons are for beginning the Cruise in Stockholm versus beginning the Cruise in Bergen. Thanks!
