Thank you for your post.  Excited to be sailing on the Celebration in September.  Wondering in the MDR which formal night did they serve the Lobster, if it was the 1st or 2nd formal night?  Also, do you recall about the time they began disembarkation in Miami?

Lobster was served on the final formal night.  I believe disembarkation for people taking off their own luggage started at around 7:30, and 8:30 for the rest of us (depending on your luggage tag number).  But if you don't want to take off your own luggage but want to get off early, its easy.  Luggage tags were made available at 5:00 the day before, in 3 locations.  You can just grab what you wanted.   If you go right at 5:00 you can get one of the lowest numbers and get off at close to 8:30.

loved the fun times- will be on oct 22- have a question-  did they have a repeaters party ? also how was amber cove- have never been there

Thank you again for the fun times- seems there's alot more to do now then before-

I am not sure about any repeaters party.  If there was, I didn’t hear anything about it.  We didn’t see much of Amber Cove because we went on an excursion.  Just went into a few shops, nothing special.  We did an ATV and zip line excursion which was great.  One of my favorite excursions I’ve done.

  3. I am with you on the 26th, and although I wouldn't say I am nervous I am certainly uncomfortable about now knowing what ship we will be on and what type of cabin we will be in so close to the departure date.   I am also curious to see what will happen with the excursion that we booked through Carnival.  I am assuming we will have to try to rebook it once we know what ship we are on, if that is even a possibility.

  4. I think I may have read something about this in a previous post, but has anyone done this at the Port of Miami before getting onto their cruise?  If so, did you have to book an appointment beforehand and what was the cost?  I am looking for a plan B just in case we have a problem with our home tests, and since are leaving the day after Christmas there doesn’t seem to be any testing at CVS or Walgreens the 48 hours prior.

So you would be OK with a ship from 1920? This is like saying booked the Ritz Carlton hotel, but they are putting me in a hourly rate motel. But hey, I am on vacation so it really doesn't matter.

Clearly just looking to start drama.  They posted a positive message (with their opinion) essentially saying that they wouldn't let the ship change ruin their trip and they will have a good time regardless of the ship they are on.  And you attack them for that?  You can be a glass-is-half-empty complainer if you want but don't attack other people for deciding to see the glass as half full.

Definitely stinks for those affected. We are supposed to be on her on 12/26...whats the likelihood this doesnt get resolved by then?

I’m on that 12-26 cruise as well, and my mom is on it currently.  I certainly hope the issue is fixed before we set sail.   Been counting down the days for a while….

Formal night requirements are out the window right now. We were on there a month ago and there were Tshirts and cargo shorts in the MDR on Formal Nights

That is very disappointing.  I understand that some people don’t want to wear suits and formal dresses like used to be the case on formal nights, but to not dress up at all? It’s a shame that dress codes are not actually imposed and enforced.  It’s fine if you want to wear shorts on formal night, just eat somewhere else.

It would be a lot more sensible to select a cruise line based on the effectiveness of their covid changes.

The outcome of which will be influenced by the actual changes the cruiselines make,

as well as the behaviour of their passengers.

You seem to have a vested interest in the original video.

However, none of this really matters.

This is a princess forum.  The people here are generally loyal, and will select princess.

Not at all, and I agree with everything that you said.  I just don’t feel that the video can just be summarily discounted.  I am loyal to all cruise lines and see pros and cons with each of them.  But we tend to cruise Princess on more special occasions and have booked the Caribbean Princess for the end of June for our 20th Anniversary.  Just crossing our fingers that it actually happens.

Poster 'chengkp75' has a long history posting here, with the credentials and experience to back up what he posts.

Calling his posts baseless is absurd.

No more absurd than saying it is ridiculous to select a cruise line based on the changes being implemented to combat COVID

The premise of the blogger is silly.  What the cruise lines say they intend to do as covid protocols bears no resemblance to what regulatory agencies will require, so choosing one line over others based on their "promises" is ridiculous.  Whose to say that the CDC (for US cruises) doesn't require all that her vaunted Princess lines has promised, so all lines would meet the same requirements.  Contrarily, if the CDC requires less than what Princess has promised, does anyone really think the company will spend a dollar more than required to meet the requirements, so at actual sailing time, Princess might not provide the security that they promised long before the requirements were finalized?

So what exactly are you saying?  They are already implementing the changes, their ships will all have the Medallion system, etc.   So you are saying that if somehow their changes exceed the CDC requirements they will undo all of that?   What are they going to do?   Shut down the Medallion system?   Remove the extra hand sanitizer dispensers that they installed?  Throw out the electronic thermometers that they purchased?   Clearly you are a glass is half empty king of person, but come on.

If we are supposed to just disregard what the cruise lines say they are going it do about COVID then what should we rely on?   Your cynical, baseless opinions?

So over a year ago when nobody had any idea what was going on?  Great argument.  There was a time when the experts also thought the Earth was flat.  When was the

Since no US-centric cruiseline is currently sailing, and the cruiselines are still trying

to resolve with the CDC what rules they MAY have in place when they do sail...

So, among all unknowns, how could anyone possibly know which unknown is best?

    I don’t know...
