  1. Did P&O offer an excursion called 'St Petersburg Explorer' for your cruise and, if so could you please tell me what the cost was? That tour is listed as a 7.75 hour excursion, which allows for quite a lot of free time at three locations in the city. I have asked this and a couple of other things on a new thread, but I thought asking here I may have more chance of it being seen by P&O passengers.

We have spent time in a hotel in SPB so are thinking we could well be best getting a visa each as we have gathered all the info needed for the form early this year for the visas for our May river cruise and hotel stays, so it would be pretty easy for us to apply again.

Just had a look in our Holiday Info Book - St Petersburg Explorer was £42

  2. We were able to get to the CoSB with no problems on 15 June. That evening there was a match at the stadium in St Petersburg so there were quite a few fans about, mostly they were fine but there were a few in the tat market area being very noisy with horns etc and we also saw some climbing statues.

  3. Glad you enjoyed it, we did too - a fantastic cruise with amazing ports of call. Wouldn’t say it was faultless, service was very hit and miss in the Meridian depending on which section we were in (freedom dining). Actually had to chase things up twice which we have never had to do before - once was to take our meal choices after being left with the menu for ages.

A relative travelling with us in a separate cabin had repeated trouble with their toilet, it was reported and swiftly sorted each time but the steward said it is a very common occurrence on Azura.

Can’t comment on the entertainment as we didn’t go to much, but I did really enjoy David Wright’s series of talks on Russian history.

But even with the minor niggles (and the fact Azura is looking a bit tired in some areas) it was all in all one of the best - helped by the most amazing weather, much better than we ever expected.

  4. Thanks for all the replies. I will indeed make sure I have a cocktail (or 2!) in the Commodore Club :D

DreamingOf Thank you for sharing - it seems like you really made use of your time in NYC and shows what we could fit in if we take the shuttle bus option.

  5. Thank you - we are already thinking we might be converted for life! We have an upcoming P&O cruise to the Baltics this June but all we are talking about at the moment is our Cunard voyage:D

We both love the formal side of cruising with dressing for dinner, and also love sea days so the TA seems a perfect match.

  6. Thanks for the replies!

$50 does seem steep for a shuttle but if it helps us to get the most out of a short amount of time I guess we’ll do it. I’ll also investigate the Red Hook ferry, and maybe keep to the Wall Street area with a trip up the Observatory as BlueRiband suggested.

  7. Thanks!

I’ve been up the Rockefeller before and remember there are great views of Central Park, I’ll try to convince the other half to do that. Two birds with one stone.

Fingers crossed Cunard do lay on shuttle buses, but I will look in to the ferry from Red Hook too. Very useful to have an idea of the all-aboard time too, thank you.

  8. And very excited we are too:D

We have booked a Roundtrip for June 2019 and wondered if anyone could help with a question. We understand the time in New York is quite short, and would like to find out whether Cunard provide any excursions or provide shuttle buses into Manhattan?

I’ve been to NYC before and seen the main sites, other half hasn’t but said he would like to see Central Park and go up a tall building - so I reckon Top of the Rock might do it? Would we have time do you think?

    Many thanks.
