So funny, my husband and I and 3 other couples are the same. Have only done Royal Caribbean and decided to try a different company. We are doing the the Quebec to NY 7 day on 9/10/24.😁

Royal is getting so expensive. What ship are yall taking out of Quebec?

We did NYC round trip on Breakaway, in September 2022, after staying 3 nights in Boston. Loved sailing out of NYC! But the weather was very disappointing as in we never got to sit on deck once as it was too cold and sometimes absolutely chucking it down with rain.

I am from the English Lake District, so well used to questionable weather, but I don’t like it when I go on holiday!
Also some of the ports were disappointing. St John’s sticks out as ‘why are we here’….🤣

yes, it's kinda like going to alaska 🙂   any other ports would you say you didn't enjoy?  Did you like the Breakaway?

  3. I'm sorry, I'm so overwhelmed, can someone please let me know a good itinerary for sept or oct?  we are active people in our 50s.  We usually cruise royal caribbean on their big ships. But the schedule is important. Please let me know which ones to NOT take that you thought were boring as well.

    Thanks, Joy

Agree! I was on deck 14 as well 14634 mid ship under the royal bay pool. Noticed no movement at all during the day, but in the wee hours of the morning, there was ALWAYS lots of heavy moving around of chairs/tables or equipment.  It was loud enough to wake anyone up. First 2-3 nights, it would wake me up briefly. Hated that part but eventually I was able to sleep through it. We never have chosen decks under windjammer or pools and next time we'll be more careful.

yes for the price this is the first time i bought a o.v. balcony gty and that's where they put me. But, for 3000.00 for two people in an o.v. I can't really complain, these prices are so overpriced.

I do have to say, I'm not sure if the rooms walls and floors are built different or what, but this is by far the most noise I've ever heard in my cabin and it's been the entire week and have heard others say the same. We're on deck 12 so cabins below us and above us and I can hear footsteps in the cabin above constantly, balcony furniture moving with the door closed, and doors slamming in the hall. You can see also openly hear conversations coming through the shower drain from I'm assuming the neighbor if they're in the bathroom. Just so bizarre.

I was on deck 14 and noise at night w/ moving tables/chairs, some sounded like a horn, etc.

Wonder doesn’t have a broadway show either, for what it’s worth. I thought RCI was moving away from broadway shows, but the Wizard of Oz on Icon was outstanding in my book. Curious to see what they will have on Star next year.

Me too. I was on Icon last week - Wizard of Oz was good.

Quiz time: forward or aft stairs?

(I just think it’s cool that it is so easy to know where you are on this ship)

    Regarding “free” dining venues:

large number of choices did seem to spread out the crowds.

Grab and go offerings at the Pearl cafe would be great for families with kids. It is very convenient that there are many complimentary drink stations scattered around the ship—such as at the Pearl which I believe is open 24:7–makes it easy to get ice at anytime (without having to have the room steward bring ice during their once a day visit and have it be water when you need it or having to fish it out by hand because it seems like ice tongs aren’t provided or for when Royal runs out of ice packs 🤷‍♀️).

never have eaten at the pizza place on a cruise ship but it is there and was busy enough

The Mexican buffet option that is on many of Royal’s ships didn’t seem as crowded as on some, again probably reflecting the large number of choices on board, but when you need a guacamole fix…

The Aquadome market was interesting. The venue has ocean view seating inside and seating in the dark-ish aquadome. It’s reminiscent of a US mall food court or an airport—5 stands: macaroni, crepes, Mediterranean, sandwiches, Asian options. The Mac and cheese place didn’t seem popular but the others had short lines whenever I looked in. We had Greek bowls/sandwiches one lunch and crepes once or twice and enjoyed the “different from our usual” fare.  Handwashing and self serve drink stations in there was convenient when hanging out in the overlook. The overlook bar (easy to miss on deck plan since it’s on deck 14 but accessed from 15 but absolutely an excellent venue) was great but if I’m only wanting ice or a glass of water I’d rather not bug the bartenders.

the vitality cafe makes a good smoothie and drink vouchers apply

Central Park cafe is there and looked similar to on oasis ships.

    WJ and MDR we’ve discussed

peeked into the Surfside buffet—lots of fried kid finger food and a few adult offerings

self serve stations deck 7 surfside and deck 15 just aft of the forward elevators were popular

as previously mentioned on CC the milkshake place does not take any drink packages or vouchers so it doesn’t make the complementary venue list.

from the pictures, it reminded me of an airport as well.  it was kinda a turnoff, but i'm not there in person so can't judge

Yes. The fast lane is the outside lane which I think is opposite from Oasis. There is no seating at the very aft, which was disappointing to me but probably better for serious joggers. There is some cross traffic to the seating area outside Pearl cafe and since the only way to enter the fitness center on deck 5 is by exiting the forward stairs/elevator lobby starboard to the track there is some traffic there.

so, there's no chairs, i'm not a serious jogger, but I can walk 🙂

More than I asked for is very helpful. Thanks!

Been some time since using Miami airport.

Am looking at an 11:30ish flight after scheduled 6:30 AM arrival.

I think you'll make it in plenty of time. We self walked off in miami and caught an uber/taxi and got to the airport way early.

  11. I have cabin 14698 which is a d4.  There is one cabin left 7142 which is a d5 - does anyone know the difference?  I've never had a cabin this high before, its under the windjammer.  I thought about calling to see if I could which cabins to 7142 - what are your thoughts on the cabins? Thanks, Happy Sonday!
