  1. We are planning a cruise next year but have not booked yet. We have narrowed it down to either Bermuda, the California Mexico cruise or the one my husband wants to really do, northern Europe. Of course he wants the most expensive one lol! I would love to but with my health so iffy now, I am thinking I should pick a cruise with not so long a flight. Long flights are really hard on me. However, if I was in great health I would say cruise Australia!

We just booked our excursions for the April California cruise on Princess! Getting excited!

We also booked a June cruise to Bermuda out of NJ/NYC on Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas. I'm hoping to get some good photos of the NYC skyline when we leave and return.

I have heard nothing but great comments on a Northern Europe cruise (specifically Norway). It is definitely on our "bucket list".

We are also thinking of doing a Hawaiian Island cruise next year.

  2. Hi Everyone,

I feel a little silly.......I've been surfing Cruise Critic for quite some time and never realized there was a Georgia Cruisers thread!

We are Bruce & Lisa. We are both 51 and we live in Lawrenceville/Gwinnett County.

We are booked on a West Coast/California cruise next April (the week of Gwinnett School's spring break). We are also considering a June cruise to Bermuda.

  3. Great topic!

I haven't done a video in a long time....my earlier videos were not good at all.....but I have developed some opinions/guidelines that I now follow:

1.) Video length for a 7 night cruise should be about 3 minutes or the length of one song.

2.) Pick a song or theme before you start filming.

3.) Just as important as the length of the video is the length of clips in the video. I try to keep most clips 4-6 seconds.

Cruise video pet peeve: Long title/intros and video footage of flights, limos, and hotels prior to the cruise.

Here is one that I did that fits this criteria:

  4. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

You are becoming the master at these cruise videos!!!! BRAVO!!!!! The quality of your video, shot selection and editing is top notch.

.....and I'm becoming a slacker! I didn't do a video my last 2 cruises (including one to Alaska). I need to get back in to it!!!

Congratulations on winning this cruise and I look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future!

  5. I don't have imovie either......here is what I've done on some videos (although it doesn't look as cool as the imovie feature)

.....there is usually a map with your route on the itinerary page for your cruise (on the RC website).

....right click and save the map as a photo

....include the photo with a zoom in or zoom out effect in Microsoft movie maker

Here is an example near the very beginning of the video:

  6. Lois & Jelayne,

    Thanks for your responses!

I'm in the hotel business so I can certainly appreciate pricing based on supply and demand :-)

....I was just wondering if they don't sell some of the premium cabin types why not upgrade those that paid the premium prices??....no increased cost to them. I think your suggestion of calling and asking to pay the difference is a good one! I'm going to try that.

    Thanks!

  7. My wife and I booked an Alaskan cruise on Solstice departing June 20, 2014. We booked a balcony room for ourselves (and because of the steep price) booked an inside cabin for our son & daughter in law.

Wow.....now I'm seeing some amazingly low priced last minute deals for our cruise. I don't mind paying a premium to be guaranteed my dates and cabin type......but I'm seeing prices almost half of what we paid for a balcony cabin.

The inside cabin we reserved for our son & daughter in law is now about the same price as a balcony on some of the last minute sales.

How difficult is it to request (and get) a complimentary upgrade to a better cabin for them?

Has anyone been successful in doing that?

Thanks for any info and suggestions!

    Bruce
