  1. what can i get away with wearing to formal dining on the fantasy? Can i where nice shorts and a button up collar shirt? What can the wife wear? We are not people that like to dress up. So we are more casual people!:o thanks

hi--this is--irene and john--61 cruisers on carnival---shorts are never allowed in the main dining room---or flip-flops sandels--and you only are cruising on vacation--sooo---why not dress up a little--at least -slacks---and this goes for any the carnival ships---whether they are the big ones or--smaller ones------have a great time---irene and john

  2. Just received an e-mail from our TA. Starting in October, smoking will no longer be allowed on balconies:). Gratuities will also be raised to $12.00/day/person:(.

HI---YES--I RECEIVED THE SAME--E-MAIL--ALSO--IF YOU ARE CAUGHT SMOKING IN YOUR CABIN--OR ANY SIGN 0R SMELL OF SMOKE----YOU WILL BE CHARGED----$250.oo ON YOUR SAIL AND SIGN CARD---- SOUNDS GOOD TO ME---IF THEY WANT TO KILL THEMSELVES----SAY FOR IT------IRENE AND JOHN--61--CRUISES ON CARNIVAL--

  3. If you were FTTF or Platinum your cabins would be ready early. (Not being Diamond, I don't know what the policies are, but I think may be the same.) If not, you are taking a chance and abusing the policies that Carnival has set up. I guess those who are special feel the signs on the doors telling FTTF and Platinum guests that they can go to their cabins, don't apply to them. (I know I will be in big trouble for this comment,)

Seniormom, I think you are doing what you should do, but there are those who feel ----- Just wait until the ship says cabins are available and thanks for doing what you are supposed to.

HI--VERY SIMPLE--JUST GO TO YOUR CABIN NUMBER---AND CHECK????????--most of the CABINS ARE READY--WAY BEFORE THE 1;30 TIME-----FROM-IRENE AND JOHN--81 CRUISERS ON CARNIVAL---

  4. Just got off the Imagination a week ago and the wait time for dinner was 45 minutes one night and 30 minutes the next night. This was the first time we had Anytime Dining. We will be on the Dream in a couple of weeks and wondering if this wait time is normal on all the Carnival ships??

Sent from my iPad using Forums

so your dinner was longer then you wanted-----so what----what is the rush????when John and I have dinner out we call it dining instyle--and take our time--are not eating McDonalds--- so enjoy---we have enjoyed--61 cruises on Carnival and have all the time to eat dinner at a low pace-----Irene and John

  5. we will be cruisin' to cozumel next saturday on our 8th carnival cruise and was wondering if carnival still allowed us to order more than one starter or entrée? I always enjoy getting more than one shrimp cocktail or more than one molten lava cakes !!

hi---you will enjoy your coming cruise--i know---after 61 cruises on carnival--now as to ordering---yes--yes----you can order as many shrimp cocktails as you want----and anything else on the menu--so enjoy---irene and john

  6. I was wondering the same thing. We'll be on the Splendor 7360 & 7362. Crossing my fingers we can open it up.

from--IRENE AND JOHN-----JUST CALL YOUR ROOM STEWARD------AND HE WILL OPEN THE DOOR UP---------MY GOODNESS-----THINK-------IN 61 CRUISES--WHEN TRAVELING WITH FRIENDS OR FAMILY--ROOMING NEXDT DOOR--WE HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM---------IRENE AND JOHN

  7. looking at the dream :) there are two balcony rooms together that are not joining rooms. My question is... Can the balcony partition be opened to make the balcony bigger between all the rooms or is it just some of them?

hi--the answer is--yes--yes---just ask your room steward---and the connecting balconey doors will be opened--we do it all the time when we cruise with friends or family---next door-----irene and john

  8. Ship was nice with the 2.0 Fun Ship upgrades. We have sailed on 7 previous Carnival cruises and this ship is by far at the bottom of the barrel with regards to service and cleanliness.

First off our balcony cabin 7393 was not within the 73 degree Carnival temperature standard for the first two nights. Other guests we met on board had similar cabin temp. issues on lower decks. After two nights of telling guest services and our cabin steward about the problem, the temperature problem was corrected to a more bearable condition, but not as cool as we have experienced on other ships. The cabin also appeared to have dust on the furnishings and streaks of dirt on the mirrors. We told the cabin steward to correct the problem and he did clean up the problem.

The staff on board we encountered did not seem to be friendly and attentive with everyone. I like to visit the sports bar on every ship that has one of these bars, to buy a pint of Bud Light. During several nights one bar staff member was more focused on the game on TV than my desire to have a beer poured. Two other staff members who have worked the bar were more attentive to customers, but they were not there every night. In the dining room our wait staff seemed friendly, but some nights we felt very rushed to eat dinner and leave. I need to mention the dining room was never completely full during early dining. Also, the food in several locations on the ship were just barely warm and not hot. The food temp issue was on the lido and in the Golden Olympic dining room.

Finally, during the early morning hours prior to our docking in San Juan I experienced severe cramping and did not think I would be able to go on our shore excursion. Fortunately the cramping subsided enough for me to go ashore with several rest room visits while visiting San Juan. I found out during the last night of the cruise from a fellow passenger they were told by Carnival staff at Port Canaveral someone on the previous cruise had gastrointestinal illness and the ship needed to be disinfected before we embarked from Port Canaveral. I was not sure if my bout with severe cramping was related or if I had eaten something in St Thomas that caused food poisoning. I believe today that the source of my issue was due to the ship cleanliness in our cabin and food temp. as mentioned earlier.

Don't get me wrong with the negative tone of my review as all the other Carnival ships we have sailed on are great ships. We just do not believe the Liberty is that great of a ship and some of the staff need better training. We are already booked on the Sunshine and look forward to that voyage.

HI--I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU-----THE SHIP WAS NOT UP-TO STANDARDS IN CLEANINESS AND THE STEWARDS HELP----WE HAD TO ASK 3 TIMES FOR A WINE BUCKET--AND MORE SOAP---CAN YOU BELIEVE IT??? BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I CAME DOWN WITH VERY BAD COLDS AFTER THIS TRIP--AND ARE STILL NOT WELL---ALSO --FRIENDS OF OURS WHO SAILED ON THE NEXT TRIP--SPENT 3 DAYS IN BED-----THE CABIN WAS FREEZING----COULD NOT REGULATE THERMOSTATE---- THIS WAS ALL IN THE MAY SAILING. I REPORTED THIS WHOLE INCIDIDENT--FOR WHAT GOOD IT WILL DO-----AND THEN IN DISGUST-----WE CANCELLED THE JAN. 15 CRUISE ON THE SUNSHINE--AND THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE---$50.-- per person---BECAUSE OF EARLY SAVING BOOKING---CAN YOU IMAGINE--AFTER WE HAVE HAD 61 CRUISES--AND LOOK AT ALL THE MONEY WE SPENT ON CARNIVAL--WELL--AFTER MUCH ARGUING WE WON-----NO CHARGE--THEY BETTER---IRENE AND JOHN--61 CRUISES ON CARNIVAL--

  9. any diamond passengers who have already experienced the "special invitation from the captain"? What were you invited to?

hi---we are diamond--with 61 cruises and over--450 days of cruising---yes, there is a special cocktail party with the captain and officers----very nice and they take pictures--which they put in a special album and bring to your statement---drinks and small eats are available--to all diamond people-----irene and john

  10. yes, we were on a cruise last week at this time (1st time in over 20 yrs on carnival) and enjoyed it. Can't say "loved it" for a few reasons but will write my review within a few days. I am going through that withdrawal and have been day dreaming once again on a 4 day port out of 7 day cruise which has been flying to a port. I know with carnival they book you on the flights, times etc and normally fly in the day of embarking. I have heard that they can and will (if need be) book at party of 4 on two different flights. Is that true? I am looking for some first hand experiences and did you think the price was cheaper then booking the flights yourself? Just wondering...and passing the time until i can cruise again!!

hi on our european cruises--we always had carnival book the flights----and it was wonderful --at the end of destination--say---england----carnival people were at the airport--helped with luggage--and sent you on your way to the ship -via the bus---we also tried here in the usa----and flights were all fine and on time and their people were there to greet you----price-wise dont think much difference---but who cares---you get their on time--irene and john---61 cruises with carnival--

  11. just back from 7 days on the conquest. Loved this ship and all the ports. Dh and i usually do our own thing in port, but on this cruise we booked an excursion in st. Thomas thru carnival. It was the st thomas ultimate island experience. The first half was good...we were taken by bus (no a/c and the speaker didn't work) up into the hills which afforded us some exceptional views of the island and then on to the beach at magen's bay for 2 hrs...this beach was breathtaking -the water was crystal clear, then we were picked up...and this is where it went terribly bad. We were taken to blackbeards "castle" and left there and told to go to a cafe, about a mile away and meet the carnival rep. After the initial hellos and a history lesson, we were left to wander and try to find our way back. Asking people where this cafe was...the locals had never heard of it. Finally find it after walking almost an hour..it's a boarded up building which is no longer open. It get's better,,,we find out from the cab drivers in the area, that we should actually be across the very busy street for our transport back to the ship, finally someone walks up 5 mins before they were supposed to meet us. We get on a ferry and the tour guide had the nerve to tell us there were drinks for sale during this 10 min ride. This was not a happy group. How do you just drop a group of people off in a foreign country and leave them. This was soooo not worth $60 a person. The next day in puerto rico, we got a great tour of the city for $20 pp..saw old and new san juan, the fort and the beach--on a bus with a/c and our guide never left us! Sorry carnival, no more of your excursions.

hi---regarding your recent trip to--st. Thomas----first of all-st thomas---is not--not--a foreign country-----it is the usa---and please dodnt judge all their trips by one---unfortunate experience-----just tell the tour desk----what happened----carnival is very fair---and i believe they would have adjusted the cost---irene and john---60 carnival cruises--and still cruising--

  12. Question-

Can we take our carry on wine to the dining room during the afternoon of embarkation day so that it can be chilled prior to dinner?

hi----WHY DONT YOU JUST ASK YOUR ROOM STEWARD-----FOR A WINE BUCKET WITH ICE----AND CHILL THE WINE THAT WAY----THIS IS WHAT WE DO----IRENE AND JOHN--60 CRUISES WITH CARNIVAL--

  13. the carnival sunshine will be cruising out of port canaveral in 2016 but the schedule has not been posted yet. We plan on cruising on sunshine in feb 2016

hi----just to let you know----the sunshine---is already sailing out of port canaveral-----and we have reservations for jan--15---irene and john--

  14. does anyone know what's going on with port canaveral in 2016? I'm very intrigued with port canaveral as i can get cheap airfare there and all that is showing up right now for sailings out of pc is the liberty. Now, don't get me wrong, i loved the liberty, but i really want to try new ships and new ports.

I've tried reading, but i'm just not sure, with the new ship coming in 2016 at some point are they just not releasing stuff yet or do you guys know anything??

hi-----i understand--the--sunshine is now at the port--it has been done all over---was the destiny----and now is like a sparking new ship---we have reservations on it--for january--15----try it--you will like it----happy cruising---irene and john---know as jugger

  15. back saturday from our cruise on the fantasy out of charleston. Good things 1st.

    1. We liked the ship. Easy to find our way around.

    2. We loved the comedy club.

    3. Food was good. I have noticed a lot of people complain about the coffee on here, but i had no problem with it.

    4. Drinks were good and no more expensive than some of the restaurants we eat at.

    5. Met some nice fellow pax.

I sat here for 10 minutes trying to find something good to say. Sad. What we didn't like.

    1. I keep hearing about the great service. Frankly i didn't see much of it. I realize they all have a lot to get done, but on the lido deck the tables didn't get cleaned very often. Same way in the buffet.

    2. I still don't know our room stewards name. Didn't even see him until tuesday night after boarding monday and then he just said hi and walked away.

    3. I keep seeing here how everyone calls you by name and how they are so friendly. I wore my sign and sail card on a lanyard all week. In the whole week, one person, (1) called me by name. I almost cried to find a friendly crew member.

    4. Shorty the cruise director drove us batty with stupid stuff and when it was some thing important like debarking, they have a silent one. Really? Having us stand in the halls for an hour before we moved an inch was a bit much. It would be nice to have direction instead of listening to the cabin stewards. Her "chow for now" is what we now use to drive each other nuts.

    5. A good third of the crew looked unhappy. Again, i realize they have a lot to do. And a third of them looked like they would rather be flogged than be there. You smile at them and they look at you like they don't know why you would do that.

Maybe, i listened to to many people tell me how wonderful it was and had my expectations too high. I don't know. I don't know that i really want to cruise again. But if i do, i can guarantee you it won't be out of charleston. What a freaking cluster that place is. If they are all like that, i know i won't cruise again.

While we were waiting to embark and people were leaving from the previous cruise, my daughter said something about how none of them looked happy. After we finally got out of the port we looked the same way.

So there you have it. Any questions just ask.

hi--this is from--irene and john--in florida---we have sailed on carnival---60 cruises and 2 more to go--and love every time---some people perhaps would not be happy in heaven-----travel with a positive attitude---and enjoy-----irene and john

  16. Funny how some passengers on that ship said it was an inconvenience, but not as bad as the media portrayed it while the other greedy $%^'s (read...folks) feel that money will make their little issues all better.

C'mon, let's get "loser pays" lawsuits in this country once and for all!

hi--if you saw the pictures OF THE PASSENGERS EMBARKING----THEY WERE ALL SMILING AND WAVING---THIS IS A GREED THING----CARNIVAL--GAVE THEM ALL--BACK THEIR SHIP BOARD EXPENSES AND FAIRS---PLUS TRANSPORTATION--TO THEIR HOME-----PERHAPS--IF--IF THEY ALL DRANK LESS---THEY WOULD BE HAPPIER-----WE SPENT A DAY AT SEA--DURING THE SANDY HURRICANE PROBLEM----DREAM COULD NOT LAND AT PORT CANAVERAL--DUE TO ROUGH SEA--ETC--AND WE SPENT AN GREAT DAY AT SEA----SAILING UP AND DOWN THE COAST-----IRENE AND JOHN---59 CRUISES ON CARNIVAL---

  17. thanks, i never take a power strip, def don't need it on this cruise, just me...i'll be sure check my curling irons and if neither have auto off i'll be sure to check the cheaper on! :d but honestly good reason to not even mess with curling hair, bun? Braid? Works for me. Just definitely something i had never seen discussed on the boards, or anyone mention theirs got taken away.

hi---carnival--has curling irons--provided in each cabin---so what is the big fuss-----irene---

  18. we are bringing on our 2 bottles of wine and was wondering if we need to bring our own wine opener to avoid paying the corkage fees?? Thanks!

hi---it is wise to bring your own bottle opener---you can buy them at any liquor store---otherwise-there will be a charge--enjoy your cruise--we always do---59 cruises with carnival

  19. does anyone know if we have to disembark after first cruise of a back to back? Is it possible to stay on board? How/where do we collect cruise cards for second cruise?

We are in the same cabin for both cruises.

    So many questions! Sorry!

yes--you do embark-----and go through the boarding again---with security, etc. We found it no problem------irene and john--59 cruises on carnival---

  20. I haven't seen any horror stories...

hi--this is irene and john--59 cruises on carnival--what horror stories????-----we have not experienced or seen anything -----but---if you read about--holland american cruise line---read about the young girl who was raped and beaten by one of the stewards--and he tried to throw her over-board--she fought him and another passenger--found her in the hall bloody and bleeding-----now that is a horror story-----

  21. We leave on Fantasy tomorrow. Last night the question came up at home "Does the bathroom have a bathtub, or just a shower?"

That is something I hadn't thought of. Does anyone know if the inside staterooms have a tub?

they have showers-----the only ones with tubs and shower--all in one----very uncomforable for me-----are the penthouse---the tubs have jazcuzzis---not for me---Irene and John

  22. hi everyone

i was hoping someone out there can help with this! I emailed a complaint to carnival regarding our recent splendor cruise. The response i received left me very frustrated! I sent a calmly worded reply back to the adviser that sent it but surprise surprise she has failed to reply!

Does anyone know who i can escalate this complaint to. I feel that carnival have fobbed me off with the standard proforma letter and i don't feel my complaint was taken seriously!

Also, i would be interested in hearing how others that have had cause to complain got on?

    :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

hi--the only thing i can suggest is---is you booked thru carnival directly----get the name fo the person--he or she would be your pvp------personal vacation planner---and tell them your complaint----irene and john--

  23. hi everyone!

My husband and i will be cruising on the carnival dream - 7 day western at the beginning of march. Our ports are cozumel, belize, roatan & costa maya. I was wondering if anyone has any reviews or recommendations on what to do at these ports? Anything not worth doing?

    Thanks so much!

hi---we are too--sailing on the dream in march and going to the same islands--and the country of belize------recommend---buy your sight-seeing tiks from carnival-----do not go it alone--especially in belize------pretty little country--but------ from--irene and john--59 cruises on carnival--
