If you go to the website sfport.com and make sure you are looking at the 4/5/24 update it shows Pier 80. The roll call for the Pacific Coastal 4/27 also has some info about this.

Thank you so much, I had checked this website but did not find the April update previously

Please excuse my artwork, this clearly shows Pier 80 and I guess I’m rebooking hotel.  Was an easy walk to Pier 35 from the one I had booked.

Be glad it's not the Grand Princess on 4/27. She is going to Pier 80, which is a cargo pier. Something must be going on with Pier 35, which is where she was originally scheduled, as there are two ships in SF that day.

Hi. Can you tell me where I can confirm Pier80 please?  Everywhere I look says Pier 35 and I will book a hotel in a different location if it’s 80.   Thanks

  3. I booked a 10 day cruise for September 2024 a few days ago. Started trying yesterday to add wifi for myself, even before i had read this post   Site kept crashing telling me my session had expired.    I just called Customer Service and was quoted $337.40 Canadian $ for the 10 days and was told this is my Elite price

33.74 CDN is $25 USD.  For 1 person

The person verified that this is the correct Elite rate….

Considering my options now.  No airfare booked so easy to change

I'm curious of your review of sleeping in the Inside cabin. I always book veranda or higher... but I've heard some people say that the Inside rooms are actually the best to sleep in since they are 100% totally dark, and have a much more mild as far as ship motion?

Honestly, the inside room is smaller but everything else is the same, linens and toiletries.  It is so much quieter, negligible ship motion.  Even though there was a lot of noise in the balcony area there didn’t seem to be much motion either.    Surprising…..

Just curious, are you speaking from experience?  We are scheduled on the Beyond in January and as bad as it has been described, I am very concerned.

I am on Beyond now 11124.  Hardly slept last night. Tonight is calmer but creaking and banging noise is just as bad.  Will go to guest services tomorrow and hopefully something can be done.  This is a beautiful ship with beautiful venues but the noise is really bad.

  6. Koningsdam May 7-14

Weather was very good, light layers were all that was necessary.

Scenery amazing.  The ports - saw many empty storefronts, lack of tourism hurts.

Loved Dutch Cafe, Pizza was very good and Dive in very good also.  Buffet quite crowded.  Not the Holland buffet I remember but the salad bar is very good and available every meal.  Dining room fresh halibut fish and chips were very soggy but in hindsight it’s very difficult to serve hot and fresh fish and chips in a large group setting.

The staff is fabulous as per usual Holland standards.

Sorry to hear that you were stricken.😪 I am wishing that masking weren't "recommended" while on the ship. We're on the Koningsdam next Saturday and will be wearing our masks. But as you pointed out, if the majority don't, it might be for naught. 🤞 that we can stay healthy enough to get home when it is time. As an aside-flying home from Cairo last week was the same 10-20% masking on the plane even though the safety protocols ON the plane were directing people to wear a mask, and change them regularly.

Good luck on the Koningsdam, it is a beautiful ship.  Strongly suggest using the Verifly App for boarding.  When we went for embarkation the room was a mass of people with huge lineups, except the Verifly line.  When we said we had Verifly we were walked right up to an agent, no waiting.  Suggest bring your own supply of masks, ones from HAL -one broke immediately and they ran out of replacements. I had my own supply with me.

  8. Not RCL but I returned from a 7 day Alaska cruise (Koningsdam) on May 14, very fatigued and tested positive on May 16.  As I live in Vancouver I am recovering at home.  I also wore mask at all times outside cabin except when eating or drinking,  did not attend any events or music venues.  Boarding was very crowded, I walked stairs to avoid crowded elevators and stayed as far away from others as often as possible.  Masking was 10-20% by 3rd day and people using hand sanitizer at entrance to restaurants was rare.  I feel like numbers are going to explode among cruisers now.  I have cancelled a future cruise and 2 friends have cancelled theirs also.

Well we came at 12:15 after an hour bus ride from the airport with a bus driver who didn't know where to drop us at Canada Place, first he stopped at the Convention Center. It was probably about 2.25 hour but everyone we talked to on our shore Ex and said it was the longest they ever had to wait.

I spoke with someone who must have been on the same bus as you.   Traffic was ridiculous that day, instead of getting a ride we ended up getting on the Canada Line.  I know they changed the luggage drop off area, we ended up taking the luggage to the parking garage for drop off.

Well except it took an average of 3 hours to board the K-dam cruise in Vancouver on May 7. Hopefully that will improve as the season grows and they hire more people for embarkation. Only 5 people checking health docs and 5 people doing check-in for a cruise with 1800 pax. and then after security another long line to go through US Customs since the first stop is Alaska.

We boarded on May 7 with absolutely no delay.  We were late (2:30) because of traffic, walked into the room and saw tons of people waiting to board.  However, we had the Verifly app and that line had no one in it.  Took less than 5 minutes to scan and walk on ship

  11. The APP will definitely save you time when you board.   Last Saturday we were 1.5 hrs late getting to port due to traffic.  There were several hundred people in lines and not one person ahead of us in the Verifly line.   They scanned our passport, scanned our face against the Verifly one and we were good to go!

  12. Just boarded Koningsdam yesterday in Vancouver.  I live in Vancouver. I had printed boarding tags and did have a room change but just printed new ones.

The whole checkin was a ton of walking to different levels and areas. We were very late because of horrible traffic and ended up getting dropped at a Canada Line station to take the train in.   Having luggage tags already on the cases really helped.

I had paper copies of test and boarding pass but the number one tip I could give anyone is to have the Verifly app on your phone and load all your information on it ahead of time.  We literally had not one person ahead of us in the check in line, the staff scanned passport, took a picture of me and I walked on.   There were hundreds of people waiting in the other lines and no one in the Verifly line

I was asked for the paper boarding pass a couple of times to enter a couple of areas, never for test.   Of course the test was already loaded into Verifly

  13. This is rotten news to get at the last minute……

If this information will help anyone

There are 2 testing sites at YVR.  You can make an appointment.  I have done this and had test results in 30 minutes

CVM Medical at the far right end of the airport on international departure level

  14. https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/news/2022/04/government-of-canada-announces-additional-easing-of-border-measures-effective-april-25.html

This is the change coming April 25.  It is a further easing of restrictions.

I know it’s easier for me as I live in Vancouver but I will be getting the cheaper Antigen test within 2 days of departure.   I read the PCR test as within 72 hours of “boarding time” also.

  15. So I did a similar cruisetour, no overnight Skagway and 2 Dawson City, 2 Denali.

Whitehorse we had a hotel mixup, double assignment of rooms, TWICE, we booked the show that was in the hotel, had a quick dinner in their dining room, watched show went to bed had an early morning

Drive to Dawson City is fairly long,  don’t remember lunch or dinner!! that night we went to Diamond Gertie’s for a show and drinks.  Husband also had Sourtoe cocktail in another bar.  The Klondike spirit was in the afternoon.  We had 2 nights here.

The air to Fairbanks from Dawson City was a very early morning  and we were 40 people with a whole 737 to ourselves.   Fairbanks hotel checkin took a while, we had an afternoon to walk around, there is a very good museum within walking distance.

Gold dredge was fun, a little train ride then some gold panning and lots of opportunities to spend $$

Denali we had dinner, book as soon as you get there because lots of people will be looking for places to eat.  We ordered a box lunch for the wilderness tour the next day, it was called a snack but there were quite A few items, granola bar etc.   Another dinner after wilderness that you could book ahead.  This whole resort is really lovely.

Breakfast next morning then train to Anchorage.  There was a dining car downstairs on the train and we had a very nice lunch.  Anchorage we had time to walk a bit, shop a bit, have a niece dinner.  Hotel gave transfer to airport, our driver gave us a little tour of Anchorage but there were only 6 of us needing transfer.  I’m not sure the hotel is the same as the one we stayed in was heavily damaged by an earthquake some time after we were there.  Suggest you phone the hotel and see if they still have a transfer included.  Anchorage airport is very beautiful, tons of taxidermy of  Alaska creatures.

Don’t know if I have helped at all, I want to go again after dredging my memories

When you mention a $685 cancellation fee, is this additional money you would have to pay or the money you would lose for his half of the room?  You always have to pay double for a single in a room.

I have paid the room in full for 2 people, that is fine with me.  To change to solo in this room they want me to pay an additional $685, not be credited for the port taxes already paid for the second person and then, pay a solo (2x fare) plus 1 port tax for the second cabin.

The costs for the second cabin are fine with me,  I just feel the additional $685 plus not receiving a credit for the second person’s port taxes is unreasonable.

needless to say I’m leaving things as they are and we will stay in one cabin instead of 2

  17. OP here.  I was going to get him a cheaper room.   He is happy with this.

I don’t think I will be able to book another reservation for him if he is still a passenger in my cabin, at least I doubt they would let me.

I am thinking the only way around this is to say he can’t come in my cabin, add a different second person and then book a single cabin for him……..and this is just way too much  work and would require his “replacement” to enter all their personal details and passport information etc.

I guess this is all a lesson for the future that I should just book solo and add a second person last minute, although who knows if they will want to reface that too.

Obviously I have lost of knowledge over the past 3 years of not cruising, the refaring and charging a cancellation penalty seems really unfair if you are deleting a person and not crediting port taxes and fees for a passenger who doesn’t board doesn’t seem right either.
