  1. I was in a similar situation last month on my honeymoon cruise with my husband. He has one more cruise than I do, so he is platinum and I am gold. I chose not to attend the party because I was not officially invited. All the platinum’s we were traveling with told me to come because they don’t check invites or cards. I think at bare minimum your legal spouse should be invited. It’s a moot point now because our next cruise I’ll be platinum too. We attended the parties together prior to the changes to the VIFP program. If this is a real change it’s about time!

  2. We are taking this cruise on the 14th and have no issues with an older demographic. I'm 38 and my soon to be husband is 45. Some of our best cruise friends are older than our parents. You are really missing out in life if you only associate with people that are exactly like you. There are some things like physically demanding excursions that our friends might not be able to do, in those cases we will see them at dinner and tell them all about our adventure. I'm sure you'll find a few younger people on any sailing that you can make friends with. The problem with motorized scooters is not people that use them all the time it's the ones that rent them for a vacation who don't know how to drive. I was run into at Disney World and it really hurt. I've never had that happen on a ship. The horn honking person would get some sarcastic "everybody get out the way, we have someone very important that needs to get by" type of comment from me.

  3. To us booking a balcony has nothing to do with smoking, nothing. We would not sail without a balcony, so many great perks, love it. Yes, people smoke on the balcony, we smelled "both" cigarettes and pot, who cares.

If I smelled pot I'd be knocking on

  4. Hi Everyone:

I am going on the Carnival Pride out of Baltimore on March 13, 2016, 14 day Carnival Journey.

I'm interested in meeting new people on board.

    I'm 35 and single (gay).

Let me know if you're going!

    Thanks!:)

Hi, my name is Walter. My partner Jay and I are going on this cruise. I'm 37 he's 44. There are several activities planned on the main Roll Call thread that we will be attending. We love to meet new people especially "family".

  5. Ordered a sushi tray for our Pre 2.0 Legend cruise. Got the note we had to call room service to arrange a date and time. Every time we called they said the sushi chef was not there. Finally I asked when can you deliver it, they told me to call back the next day in the afternoon. We finally got the tray and it consisted of two types of rolls. One was made with the smoked salmon and the other with shrimp salad. It looked nothing like the picture, and it tasted terrible. We also got a cake, and that was just ok. I wouldn't recommend ordering any food items from Bon Voyage based on our experience.

  6. We did it BTFT on the Legend. It was very informative and long. The head chef sent us a dessert platter that evening, we got a gift bag and photos galore. Yes it was worth doing but we disappointed we didn't see the Brig or the Morgue, my guess is they were both occupied...lol They take you to the different control rooms, the bridge, the employee lounge, back stage areas, the galley. Let me tell you those kitchens and walk ins were very clean. It's worth seeing once.

  7. We bring small electronics that we lock up in the safe with our cash, jewelry and passports. Amazingly it all fits in there. I'm concerned more about other passengers when the door is open during cleaning than I am about Carnival staff. Why leave it out in plain sight? I also tidy up the cabin before we go out, but that's my OCD.

  8. There is a process in place that takes the room steward's assumption out of the mix. I don't see posts about Carnival mixing up eating times because you make the choice at booking (along with bed arraignments) and I assume they will entertain my choice unless I'm on a waiting list. If Carnival is allowing me to make a choice of bed arraignments, that choice should be given to the stewards so no assumptions have to be made.

    Bingo!

  9. Just some corrections. First, many people do not even realize about the selection of bed can be prearranged. Most guys in particular would not even notice until they entered the room and request a change.

Most guys traveling together and when I say most, I mean the super majority or around 95% would not want the beds together, so it would be logical that they would set the room up that way. Although I would not be offended if I saw my bed made up incorrectly, I would just ask, just like you should be aware that your choices are in the minority, so asking for a change should not be a pet peeve.

Just a correction for you, I might be a minority but I don't choose to be gay any more than you choose to be straight. I'm feeling the truth lies somewhere between how the room was set-up last, with a slight judgement call by the steward to not change the twin setup until that request is repeated.

  10. I'm annoyed by the fact that our king bed request has never been correctly honored on 4 cruises together. Of course, when I chase down the room steward he fixes it. Although twice we got the 'Are you sure?' type of response which was stupid. Yes we are gay. I'm wondering if it was correct for the rest of you, or is this some kind of judgment call they are making? Are they afraid of offending two straight buddies bunking together who might have accidentally selected the wrong bed setup? Like that happens...LOL

  11. As I posted in another thread our cruise rate went down $68 on the Cyber Monday sale. It was like pulling teeth to get them to adjust to the correct rate. I had to call 3 times and place a 24 Courtesy Hold on the room next to ours before the agent could see the rate I was being offered online. It usually isn't that difficult. I'm hoping as final payment date approaches, some cancelations cause another rate drop. Right now it's up $108 :D

We use a free App and a popular website that monitors prices. I do a mock booking before I call just to be certain. We book a balcony on a high deck which is often last to sell out so we usually get some kind of reduction before sailing.
