  1. Correct. Not sure on the fee, but everyone was loading them up then withdrawing cash when overseas fee free. They stopped that loop hole;)

We use Citibank for cash and 28 Degrees Mastercard for credit, and has worked really well for us.

To the OP, Rose, We have used ours all through Asia on a cruise that had lots of different currencies. Just a reminder when withdrawing to hit "Credit" not "savings" or it will charge a fee. It is a Visa Debit card, so hit credit. Had friends that wondered why they were being charged a fee and we were not!!

We were never charged an ATM fee, just lucky I guess.

Have a great holiday, the kids will love it

    xx

    Hi Chez

Thanks for the tip. I would have hit savings lol. Will def make sure I hit credit now for sure.

Yes, the kids I'll def love it. They've grown up a lot since you saw them last xxx

    Hope you are well.

  2. You still get the international transaction fee. Just not the ATM fee.

No, with this debit card it is fee free from international transaction fees but it's the ATM fees that have me confused . Like here in Australia if I use my bank or affiliated banks I don't cop the ATM fee (usually around $2.50?). But I can't seem to find any in Canada. Was just trying to avoid changing cash here as I have no idea how much we will use in Canada as we are only there for 2 nights. Where possible I will use my 28 Degree card. It's just I will cash for things like fast food at the baseball game etc. Plus using their bus/rail system.

If you don't have a Pin & Chip card . Many ATM's in Canada will not accept your card . Canada has gone almost exclusively to this technology .

With a debit card there will be a hold put on all transacts even refunds .

Are your maybe referring to a Credit Card instead?

I'm only using it to get cash as I have a credit card. Yep and pretty sure it has a chip (and I have organised the pin). Thanks for the help :).

  3. Hi guys

Thanks to this forum, I now have my Citibank Debit card in my possession :).

I have tried to search about this on Citibank's website and on the net but not having a lot of luck .

For those that have used this card particularly in Canada to get cash out, which ATM's did you use to avoid fees? (I kow it's supposed to be fee free but it says in Australia to use Westpac/Citibank ATM's but I can't find these in Canada lol). Were you able to get cash out at McDonalds or supermarkets (like you can in Aus)?

    Thanks for any advice.

  4. We're on the Spirit leaving on 27 March, so one day after you! I tried to get two with good views too, but only managed one between the lifeboats (hubby's and mine!) and another two doors down for the kids. Hopefully they'll both be OK.

Your kids must be growing up now. Our daughter will be 16 on the cruise, and our son will be 15 a month later. Not too many years left for them in the kids club, so I feel like we have to make the most of it and fit in as many cruises as possible in the next couple of years. That's my excuse anyway :D

Yep mine are now 15, 13 (on our cruise) and 10. The eldest is in year 10 so probably our last year of holidays together.

Hope you have a great cruise (I would have loved to have done that one but we are cruising with friends who picked legend over spirit).

  5. We've booked two of these cabins for our cruise later this month. One is in between two lifeboats and the other isn't. I'll take some photos of both so you can compare, but there should be some already on the internet. Try googling Carnival 4K cabins.

Me too. What ship and sailing are you on? I'm in legend leaving March 26. I picked what I hope would be two cabins with the least obstructed views. Guess I'll know on Saturday [emoji2][emoji2]

  6. On Golden Princess over this last Christmas / new year, my account was joint with the 2 cabins I had paid for for my children. The end account was net of the OBC for all 3 cabins.

    That's handy to know.

I'm on carnival legend on the weekend and we have 2 cabins booked for my family of 5 with $800 total. Each passenger has been given $200obc (except passenger #3 in cabin) but my problem is I don't want my 13 & 15 year old having $200obc each so I'm hoping to roll it all onto my account. Fingers crossed and I'll let you know how I get on.

  7. Carnival Australia is different to the one in the U.S. (Think they use a different booking system that is linked to p&o and princess). Anyway. After your cruise, go back into it and request the cruise be added manually giving the date, ship name etc of your cruise. It will then appear on your account about 10 days later.

  8. I have been given $250 OBC from my t/a for my 3 night cruise. My 10 year old daughter is travelling with me. My question is when there is a child do they still split the OBC 50/50 between the first/second passenger? There is no way my daughter will be spending that much money and I don't want to loose the OBC. I am using a cash account (no credit card).

Does anyone know how I can have the whole $250 linked only to my account? Do I not give her any access to her account?

I sail on Thurs 11th Feb.

    Thanks in advance.

  9. Parking at Canaveral is $15 per DAY' date=' not per night of cruise....so $75 on a 4 night cruise. Another option would be a one way rental, where you would drop off the car near the cruise terminal and get another vehicle after the cruise. The easiest way to do this is for you to drop the family and luggage at the terminal and then return the car. There is a complimentary shuttle back to the cruise terminal.[/quote']

Thank you. I think we might go this option.

Do you know how long the drive is from the port to Disney hotels?

  10. Hi guys

We are a family of 5 (2A, 15,13,10) booked on 4 night Disney Dream in Sept. We are flying in from Washington DC the night before and plan to stay in an airport hotel the night before our cruise (unless someone can recommend anywhere else). Which is our cheapest option to get to the cruise terminal on embarkation day? Any help or info greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  11. That is a great story! As for your wife - well, she still got a surprise, just not at the exact time you hoped she would! :)

I surprised my 10yo on the same cruise. It was hilarious. We were standing at Circular Quay right in front of the Golden Princess when I told him and he didn't believe me. Queuing up in the OPT, passports and boarding passes in hand, he assured me he knew it was all a big prank, and once we got to the front of the queue we'd have to leave.

I don't think it really sank in until he wandered onboard and into the piazza, found the International Café and having been told "go for it, it's all free!", stuffed the first of a half a dozen cakes into his face :D

OP, have you had a look on eBay or the cruise line's website for ship merchandise? You might be able to grab some branded things that would help your kids get the hint :)

I surprised my 3 kids on a 3 night sampler on Celebrity Solstice and pretty much did the same thing as you. The kids thought we were just going into the city for the night. It was priceless.
