  1. Ok we got into the game too late to do much good but DW has 2 one category upgrades and I just received 4 100 point certificates. Can we combine them for 2 three category upgrades? Can you get from inside to balcony in 3 categorys?

Unfortunately the upgrades certs can only be used for the same category of cabins (i.e. inside to inside, oceanview to oceanview and balcony to balcony cabins, suites are not included).

  2. I am perplexed on how BOA can remove some of my Compass Reward Points and send them over to the World Points. We stopped using our BOA card on Dec 27, 2008 because we wanted to make sure all of the transactions went though prior to the end of the year.

Is it legal for them to move points to the World Points program that was accumulated on the Compass Reward Point program?

  3. My experience with the way the upgrade certificates work, is you book the cabin and category that you want. Then you send in the upgrade certificate and NCL credits your account for the difference of the cost of the category below and your cabin. This is not good for all categories, so when you book check to see if your category is included. As I recall Mini suites and Suites may not be included. Check your upgrade certificates and see if there is anything on the back for terms and conditions. The Certificates that I recently received $500 and i upgrade don't look like any other certificate I received in the past. They look like a statement printout not a certificate. Then you send in any $ amount certificates, so they can credit it to your balance. Be sure to send either return receipt requested or FED Ex, and leep a copy so you have proof. Then check 2 weeks later to make sure that it has been received and is being credited.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer this question. I know a few of us have posted this same question a couple of times here but your remarks spelled out exactly what we are suppose and how we are suppose to handle the certs.

  4. I am a little confused on what my next step is. For our 638 points, we received one $500 cert and one $100 upgrade, both on the same page. These are our first certificates, we only enrolled in the program in June 08.

I understand that I send the certs to the address on the form but both certs are on the same page. Will NCL just log the certs in and then I have to call them and tell them which cert I will being using on our cruises?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

  5. NCL rep told me it was Tyron St. Someone who lives in NC seems to think there is no Tyron St but they are aware of a Tryon St where BOA is located. I think it may still be up in the air? I sent my info out yesterday to Tyron St as advised by NCL (via USPS certified mail) so I'll let you know when/ if it gets there.

When I spoke to the rep yesterday, he spelled the street Tyron. Go figure?!

  6. Wishful thinking c breeze. I had exactly the same thought so I asked the woman from NCL that very question and she said "final certificates" means that's all they are sending. That's when she told me I had to send my complaint to the "NCL Compass Rewards Resolution" center. I'm really hoping she is wrong.

That is exactly what the rep said when I spoke to him a little bit ago; all final certificates will be received by this week and any disputes must be sent to the NCL Compass Rewards Resolution Center.

I just got off the phone with NCL and they gave me a slightly different address:

    NCL Compass Reward Resolution

    NC1-022-17-01

    201 North Tyron Street

    Charlotte, NC 28255

  8. Here is a brief excerpt from Bloomberg about NCL and the stock symbols:

Aug. 12 2008 (Bloomberg) -- Star Cruises Ltd.'s first-half loss narrowed from a year ago after Asia's biggest cruise operator boosted capacity by adding ships.

The company, which operates ships under brands including Star Cruises, Norwegian Cruise and Oriental Lines, boosted capacity last year after adding ships to take advantage of higher demand for holidays. Net revenue increased 5.2 percent from a year earlier after it added 29 percent capacity.

    Symbol Name Country Type Industry/Objective

STRC:SP Star Cruises Ltd Singapore Common Stock Cruise Lines

SSKZF:US Star Cruises Ltd USA Common Stock Cruise Lines

TJY:GR Star Cruises Ltd Germany Common Stock Cruise Lines

678:HK Star Cruises Ltd Hong Kong Common Stock Cruise Lines

  9. The e.mail address they gave me to request information or to dispute is:

NCLcertificatefulfillment@bantracorp.com I am not sure if anything will come out of it, but I guess it is worth a try. I requested $3,000.00 in certificates on January 8 and still have not received them.

I just received an email from Robert Bircz, BOA rep, stating that to dispute Compass Reward Points please send correspondece to:

    NCL Compass Rewards Resolution

    NC1-022-17-01

    201 North Tyron Street

    Charlotte, NC 28255

From what is appears from the address he gave me, BOA will not be involved with any disputes.

  10. Is there an attorney on board? I'd have to think the words "Class Action" for breach of terms could have serious merit here if BOA doesn't make things right.

I also hope there is an attorney within the CC world. I have yet to be notified by BOA that the Compass Reward Program ended. They did not give me any 90 day notification so technically I should still earn the 3%.

  11. I guess if it wasn't for those of us who are 'bothering' BOA then you wouldn't know any of this was going on. Also, the same stuff isn't happening to everyone and it seems to be different problems that are happening. I for one cannot afford to just 'hope' they get it right and I feel it is something that rightly deserves getting my 'knickers in a wad over'.

You said exactly what I was thinking...

  12. Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't do business with someone that I did not trust at all.

    Again, just my $0.02

I selected BOA once on my own and realized after awhile that I had to document every conversation and scrunitize every bill. Unfortunately, the CRP was switched from MC to BOA, my Gov't Visa Card was switched to a Gov't BOA Card, and so on......unfortunately sometimes you have to deal with a company that you do not trust but you learn to document everything and scrutinize every bill.

  13. I agree fully, the LAST thing I want or feel like doing is being on the phone with them. But, I do want to make sure that they are accounting for my points correctly, which they are not. I want to make sure that it is done correctly and not wait and just SEE what certificates and for what amount they might send out and then try and get them to change it after the fact. I am sure at that point they will be like "You got certificates and they are already issued so deal with it".

You are correct; I have had too many dealings with BOA in my life time and I do not trust them at all. The last thing I wanted to do today was have a conversation with BOA about their miscalculations of my points. However, I am glad that I bit the bullet and called them because if I would have taken that "wait and see" stance, then BOA would have only sent me 3 $100.00 (worthless) upgrade certificates instead of the 1 $500.00 cert and 1 $100.00 upgrade cert.

  14. Everyone should call BOA to verify their points. I received my December statement, without the points annotated. I called BOA today and asked how many points I accumulate for the month of Dec (even though I already knew the number ;)). BOA stated I had only accumulated 30 points, in actuality I should have accumulated 218 points.

The BOA rep placed me on hold for about 5 minutes when I told her that the accounting for my accrual points was inaccurate. She told me that their was a discrepancy in my points accumulations and that she had to send my statement to the Liaison department; which will take 7 - 10 days to correct.

Do yourself a favor and call BOA now so you can get the correct points credited so you will get the correct certificates.

  15. Just got off the phone with BOA and NCL, here is what the told me.

I talked to a BOA representative by the name of Ashley and was transferred to a NCL rep by the name of Sarah. Both reps were very friendly and were trying to answer my question but it seems like no one really knows what is going to happen with the end of the Compass Reward Program. I asked her about the points that do not reach the 100 point level, she relayed the following:

BOA does not have access to the Compass Reward Program as of Dec 31, 2008. She did take the time to look up everything and spoke to a supervisor. She transferred me to the NCL .

I spoke to Sarah, NCL rep, she relayed that NCL does not have access to the Compass Reward Program and she referred me back to BOA.

In frustration, I asked how do I end this revolving circle of finger pointing (call BOA, call NCL). She spoke to her supervisor who stated that BOA will send out all of the certificates by Jan 31, 2009. NCL and BOA are still in discussions about rounding up or down the extra points for certificates.

I asked Sarah who do I contact if I do not receive my certificates and if I feel that my points were not accurate, she stated that I would have to call BOA.
