You would have booked a hotel because otherwise, you would have had to park 2 miles away at the convention center and take the shuttle to the port?  Most reports I have seen say that it's really not that big of a deal.

Yes, it’s a big deal to me.  I would have booked hotel Maya where I could park for free, get a free shuttle to the port; or even walk to the port if need be.

How did you find out? It sucks to drop your bags off and then take the bus. I'm going straight to the Convention Center if they do that to me on the Panorama.

I got an email from Carnival a few days ago.  Our cruise leaves on the 14th. So not much notice.

Same for my Miracle Sept 24th cruise, it was really messed up and they didn't notify me.I had a 10:00 time and I didn't get on until 11:30.

Thanks for the heads up,  We also have a 10:00 arrival.  I guess that may be wishful thinking to get there that early.  Were you able to park at the terminal or did you end up at the convention center?

One of the many reasons why (even though we live in California) that we always book and stay at the Hotel Maya the night before a cruise. About a half mile from the cruise terminal with a free shuttle to/from. Hassle free.

All our previous cruises out of Long Beach we also stayed at the hotel Maya and took advantage of the free parking and shuttle.  However, this year our friends invited us to stay at their timeshare before the cruise. ... a generous offer that we may regret this time!

To be honest if I had to do it over I would have just used Walgreens. Like many I was a little concerned about getting my test results in a timely manner. After reading all the positive comments about testing at home I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the 6 pack from emed. $165 with shipping.

Well the other 3 people in my group decided to use Walgreens as their plan A and the home test as a plan B. They all got their results back from the Rapid Diagnostic Test (ID Now) in under an hour. That was from 2 different Walgreens in my area. Their appointments were available 5 days in advance and the time slots were wide open.

If you need to test while traveling and the online test is your only option then emed it is. Otherwise look at other options and save your money.

    Good luck and safe travels

Thanks for the info.  This reassures my decision to have testing done a Walgreens (or CVS as a back up).  I wasn't sure the Rapid Diagnostic test (ID NOW) was the right one.  It seems everyone has slightly different terminology.

  6. Has anyone booked a Carnival cruise to Hawaii in March or April in the past?  I have seen that Carnival posted January and February, 2022 and 2023 cruises to Hawaii, but nothing for March and April.   March or April is when I can go.  When I call carnival, I get a "we don't know" answer, but I thought if anyone has cruised during those months in the past, it would give me a clue.

It actually is a $ 200 million upgrade, not $ 2 million, so they definitely have an incentive to delay it.

Actually I knew that it was $200 million.  I guess in my haste of typing I made a mistake.  Thank you for pointing that out.

  8. Has anyone heard anything about the Carnival Radiance refurbish?  Last I heard was back in March when it was suspended due to the port closing in Spain.  Has the port opened? Did they start tp refurbish?   Since it is a $2 million dollar expense, maybe Carnival will postpone it entirely, until they get in a better financial position.

There are 2-3 forms on this -

Look them up you willget your information.

All I can find is that the port is open, but what I really want to know is if refurbishment started.  I've heard rumors (strictly rumors) that since it is a 2 million dollar refurb;  they may postpone or scrap the refurbishment entirely.  That may be a way for carnival to re-coup some of their financial loses due to covid.

  11. Does anyone know if they resumed the refurbishment of the Victory to Radiance dry dock in Cadiz, Spain.  The port was shut down and work on the ship was halted due to covid-19.  I can't find any info if the port has re-opened and the work resumed.

  12. Has anyone ever had a problem finding a parking spot at Canada Place?   I tried reserving long term parking for Sept. 4 - 18th.; and got a message “there were no results found for the dates entered…”.   When I called, I was told that all long term reservation spots were full; and to just come early enough and should have no trouble finding a spot for as long as I need.  I will have a plan B to park at the another nearby location and wondering if anyone has another nearby parking location that you can recommend

Actually, it does. It just does not say "New Posts" as in the previous vBulletin software.

Here in the new Invision Community software, click the Activity tab above. It is between Forums and Gallery and over Meet & Mingle. That will take you to All Activity at https://boards.cruisecritic.com/discover/.

    Thanks TxCityKat

That is what I was looking for.   However, it is a little more cumbersome to navigate.

  15. Are there any attractions with walking distance of the cruise port? Since we may have an extra day in Oahu, I would like to have something nearby to do. We will have three days precuise and to days post cruise in addition to this day, so I am hoping to find something simple that will not be an all day affair.

  16. We are cruising out of Miami on March 1st and thinking of staying at the Best Western Premier @ 4101 Flagler St. My question is: Is it a safe neighborhood? We were thinking of leaving our car parked at the hotel for the duration of the cruise (7 days) and taking the hotel shuttle to the port. Has anyone stayed there? Does the parking lot seem secure? Any advice is appreciated.
