Absolutely! Whatever fits your financial comfort zone!

Not a good deal?  You're kidding?  You can't even stay at Motel 6 for that kind of money.:classic_laugh:  And remember you will have to have breakfast, lunch and dinner at Denny's.

  2. I booked on 10/12 when that unbelievable price for a MX guarantee to Alaska on 9/30/18 was posted on some travel site that sends deals every day.  My TA at cruise-n-more said I really lucked out.  Got a email from NCL today stating they will honor the price.  I couldn't possibly be happier with NCL.

  3. At a hotel with parking. Lots of them offer stay for one night park for the week deals.

Let us know if you want hotel info.

Thanks for the tip. However we are driving over from Yuma and will not be spending the night in Long Beach. Wonder if the hotels might offer parking for a fee?

  4. Just tried a mock booking on the NCL site, Sun, Alaska, 9 days in May. My original cabin is available. Hope I like my new roomy:*.

Then I tried to book my new ship the Jewel.....does not exist:eek:.

I'm not to sure I really want to have a new cabin mate (Bev is going to be darn mad if we have to sleep 3 to a bed).

And them, sailing on a Fathom Ship is not on my to do list.

  5. And you received no specific notice from NCL about the switcheroo?

No warning and no notice. Found the change by mistake. Checked the messages NCL has for our cruise after I logged into the NCL site and there were three. All three were in regards to selling drinks, gifts and shore excursions. Not one word about the change. Then I just happened to notice over on the far right side a small info block that told me I am on the Jewel, 5/26/2018 and our new cabin number. Surprise, surprise.

  6. We were booked on the Sun 5/28/18, 9 days to Alaska. Just checked our booking on the NCL web site and discovered we are now on the Jewel and assigned a cabin. Will have to give this some thought before we decide if this is what we expected for our first Alaskan cruise.

The Sun was one of our favorite NCL ships and hate to see it go and the Jewel is a new one for us..

  7. I'm seriously considering booking the 9-day Alaska itinerary on the Sun in late May 2018, but very disappointed it doesn't go to Glacier Bay. I'm curious wht you and Casey think of the Sun's suitability to Alaska weather and whether she'd recommend a longer cruise with more ports but missing GB. Thanks!

We just booked the 26 May 2018 cruise. We have enjoyed the Sun in the past and are looking forward to another adventure with NCL.

  8. Most Sun cruises either sail north or south. When the ship is headed south the cabins facing east will have sun till early afternoon, then shade for the rest of the day. When heading north the cabins on the east side will have sun till early afternoon. Now if you are heading east or west it is to complicated to explain here in the space that is allowed. Beside I can't think or a smart a** answer right now:p:p:p:p

  9. If you book as a group, you do not pay these fees. Otherwise, yes, it's an added charge.

Could you provide more info on this group deal. Where do I find how many is considered a group and what is the legal mumbo jumbo. Thanks your help. I don't mind the 18% tips, but only if they really go to the crew.

  10. The name of the cigar bar is Shooters on the Star Princess. Deck 6 forward just outside of the Princess Theater.

Thanks for the info. I have found on most Princess ships the "Cigar Lounge" has turned itself into a cigarette hangout. I really prefer to enjoy my sticks outside away from a confined area. Does any know if there is an area on the Star were I can enjoy a cigar outside?

  11. the Purell on most cruises is not "antiviral" & is ineffective for virus protection

I didn't know they offered Purell on any cruises:confused: We bring our own. Have you ever had an opportunity:rolleyes: to join the noro crowd onboard? We haven't:D It works for us:p

  12. Bev and I have been on a few cruises and have never had a dose of the dreaded norovirus. She packs a bottle of Purell sanitizer 24/7 and we use it at all restaurants on and off the ship. Try it;), it is must better and easier then spending days in your cabin with a serious of the punies.

  13. Washy, washy. On every NCL cruise there are always crew members with spray bottles at the restaurants, especially the buffet. On on last couple of Princess cruises, there was not a washy, washy to be found. Seems like a simple way to help reduce the chance of noro. We will be in the Star in November, hope to see lots of spray bottles about the ship.
