  1. We did this in February, through Carnival. The price was very competitive with booking on our own (which we usually do) so we just went with it. The boat was clean and had a bathroom. Everything was done very professionally. There were a ton of boats there when we arrived so had to anchor a bit out. I'm only 5'2' and the water was over my head - I'm a good swimmer but since you're not supposed to be swimming it was a bit tricky.... Many people actually went back on the boat to get life vests (which they provide). With that said, it really was a great excursion, especially for the price. We would do it again!

  2. Just took a look at the Port of Tampa webcam, and it appears that passengers are lined up the length of the pier waiting to board. I read that they have been having issues disembarking the Dawn in Tampa, and this of course delays the boarding process. Anyone in line waiting to board today?

I now that they've had a ton of fog issues lately -- the port gets closed until the fog lifts so that holds everything up. My fingers are crossed, double crossed and triple crossed that this doesn't happen when we come in since I booked our flight out for noon

  3. yes, you can absolutely wear glasses. You do have to "dunk under" to get your head into the bubble, so they will get wet - unless he wants to put them in a baggie or something. There's room enough to bring your hands up into the bubble and put on glasses.

They do take photos....and nice ones too! They also did a video for us. It think it had about 30 photos and a 2 minute video set to music for $30. I thought that was well worth it! Hotel cozumel was fine. Definitely not luxury, but the pool was big and clean and they have showers down at the water as well. You are free to use their beach bar and pool bar and restaurant, but we did not. We were saving ourselves for food and drinks downtown. We did swim in the pool and lay out in the sun at the pool for about an hour after our trip. It was nice. Very quiet. You can also snorkel down at the "beach" but we didn't take our gear. All in all, a really fun easy excursion.

    thank you!!!

  4. We just did the "personal mini-subs" through Oceanus. They are underwater scooters!! No experience necessary, easy to use and so much fun!!! We've been to Cozumel numerous times and have done dune buggies, X-rails, Nachi Cocum, Snorkeling tours, Catamarans, shopped the town, Cozumel Bar Hop, etc. Wanted something different this time and we had a ball!!

Close to the ship pier (I think it was an $8 cab ride for all three of us) and we got to hang at the resort and use the pool, showers, etc. when finished.

This looks like so much fun..... a few questions (I hope you will see this) Can you wear glasses under the "sub"? My husband snorkels with me but can't see anything so I always feel bad - this may be an alternative. Do they take pictures that we can purchase or should we bring our own camera? How nice (or bad) was Hotel Cozumel. Will we be able to entertain ourselves for 2 hours after the excursion or should I plan something else?

  5. Just 3 for now,we are sailing on Paradise 14th April. This will be our 1st Carnival cruise and are quite excited about it. Other holidays just don't match up to the anticpation you get with a cruise.

    Now my questions

    1) How quick was embarkation?

    2) How quickly did you get ashore in G.C. as I have an excursionr booked for 8.30 and don't want to miss it. (Stingraysailing).

3)How quickly did you disembark so I can make arrangements for a hire car and then go on a tour of Florida.

Its all about speed but I should be slowing down for a cruise.

Hope you all had a great time.

You are on the last cruise before drydock - probably won't change anything except perhaps disembarking since there will be no one getting back on after you get off.

Is your GC excursion booked with Carnival? If not, you may wont to consider FTTF to get priority tender.

  6. Our itinerary was changed for our upcoming cruise and we are now set to arrive at 6am. We will be in port from 6am to 2pm local time -- in January.

I'm not sure that we will want to be in the water at that time -- all I can think about is how cold it is going to be !! Also, we aren't real big drinkers anyway and can't imagine that we would swim/drink/eat our money's worth at an all inclusive.

Is anything else going to be open that early? We don't typically do a cruise excursion since they pack so many people in and charge so much more than if we just plan something on our own but with the change of time in port, I'm at a loss for what to do. Any suggestions?

  7. Last year I needed to cxl our early saver reservation. I'm aware of the process but never had to deal with it before. There was a $50pp admin cxl fee which left us with a balance to be held and applied to our next cruise as long as we were booked within 2 years and cruise within 3 years. I booked last week (well within the two year period) and called to have the balance from our cancelled cruise applied to our current balance. What a problem this has been!! I spoke to 4 different people before the 5th actually could even begin to help me. I was told everything from we were too late (which we obviously aren't) to if we weren't military they couldn't/wouldn't carry over the early saver balance. Finally I reached someone who knew what form needed to be filled out to make this happen. He took all our info, looked up both reservations and said he sent the form in to be approved. He took our phone number and our email address and said we were good to go and that once approved, we would receive confirmation. I was on the phone with him for over 45 minutes while this was all happening so wishful thinking was that things were pretty much taken care of........ It has been three days and I still haven't received a call or email and nothing has been posted to our account. For those who have been through this, how long does it usually take? I hate to keep calling and bothering them but I would like to get this taken care of.
