For a bigger city, Bergen is still charming, even their McDonald’s is cute.😁

We are doing the 14 night Norway cruise next June and I am really enjoying following along with you on your trip!
Looking forward to seeing pictures of your aft balcony since that’s what we booked.
I’m so glad the food on board so far has been great, love your food pictures!I hope the weather stays nice, have fun!

Yes, we did a week on Valiant Lady out of Barcelona last month and thoroughly enjoyed it! Food was excellent, and service was as well! They status matched us and I felt they really wanted our future patronage. We thought we might find the experience adrift from our "age demographic" but that wasn't the case at all. We have 3 weeks worth of cruises on Royal in the next 4 weeks and then 3 more booked beyond that. I am seriously considering dropping the last 3, subject to our overall experience in the next month.
The status match was so nice!
I agree that that the age demographic was pretty spread out, even thinking that the “middle age” group was the majority.
I’m hoping on my next Royal cruise to get a feeling that they are actually happy that I am there, that was missing last cruise. I know Royal is selling out most of their cruises but they better be careful or they will end up like Disney and start losing their most loyal customers. -

Have heard good things about Virgin. How did the 2 cruises compare pricewise?
Virgin was a little cheaper.
I didn’t have to pay tips, wifi or specialty dining on Virgin because it’s included, so I figured I spent about $200 more on Royal per balcony cabin. -
I have really appreciated all the info on these boards so I thought I would give back and share my thoughts on our Mediterranean cruises.Hubby and I traveled with our 4, mid twenties children, and spent 7 nights on Symphony then boarded Virgin’s Valiant lady for 7 additional nights. We love cruising the Mediterranean but it can be exhausting with such port intensive itineraries.First, I am a loyal Royal, diamond/prime and purchased the Key for everyone in our group. We loved Hairspray, looked forward to drinks at the Central Park Trellis Bar, enjoyed our free diamond and casino drinks, and was surprised by how much we liked just the once a day cabin cleaning.Key- paid $10 more than internet pkg. price, not worth it. Half of my group are vegetarian and Key lunch waiter literally said we can not accommodate vegetarians, “you can order the Caesar salad”(not vegetarian). This was the start of a bunch of little annoying things that continued to add up throughout the week. The food rumors are true, dining was mostly unremarkable to down right bad all week. If you are a steak and potato kinda person then you might be okay with the bland menu, but I guess we were looking for a more healthy, creative dining experience.Besides food, here is a list of things that need to change pronto!Beds- come on Royal your beds are the worst in the industry! I always have to ask for a mattress pad for my aching back.Casino- Make it smoke free! Are Royal casinos the only ones that allow smoking?!Towels/pool- stop requiring people to check/return towels, it’s a pain in the backside.Price- We paid a lot for this cruise and felt like we did not get our money’s worth. Royal tries to be everyone’s cruise- bring the kids, grandpa, honeymooners etc. maybe this dilutes the experience by trying to make everyone happy?Virgin cruises, much better fit for my adult group. If you are a “foodie”, like a ship with no kids, socially laidback, and enjoy a smoke free casino then Virgin is the way to go. Prices were similar but it’s like comparing apples to oranges, that’s how much better Virgin’s experience was compared to Royal. To be fair, Virgin only had 900 passengers vs Royals sold out ship so I’m sure our spectacular service would have been quite different with a full ship.We have always enjoyed our Royal cruises but this last one was just too underwhelming for us. Sorry for the negative post but I needed to vent, Royal’s survey link has already expired🤪. We will enjoy our Prime/casino cruise next February on Jewel of the Seas, but will move on and try other cruise lines in the future. If you have any questions, fire away!

Thanks for the review! Heading out of Barcelona next month on Valiant Lady, and I appreciate your tip about buying bar tabs, we will probably be to tired to party after the intensive port days 🥱

Looking forward to your review. We are doing the same cruise on July 23.

Thank you for your great review! I just booked Jewel of the Seas out of San Juan next February, was this the ship you sailed? You win the award for the best snorkeler for sure!😀

Thanks for the review!
Going on Harmony next month, I’m sad she doesn’t have a El Loco Fresh on board. Any other differences you noticed between the two ships? -

Some people have mentioned on cruise critic that errors have been caught and corrected on C&A accounts. Still I suspect you have a good chance of retaining these points.
Man I hope so, only 3 points away from diamond. I see a 3 night weekender cruise in my immediate future😀

I'm thinking you booked before 9/30/21 under the double points promotion rather than getting double points for the JS through RoyalUp.
Cruise was last week( 8/5-8/8) I booked it last April 2022.

I just received double crown & anchor points for my RoyalUp junior suite upgrade! I originally booked ov balcony so I did not expect to earn the double points. Has anyone been awarded points, then have them taken away after they(Royal) caught their mistake?
-
That was our total bid. Wow your minimum for JS is low, I think my $175 pp bid was the minimum on my sailing. Good luck!

Anyone upgraded this summer on short weekend cruise? I know they've been sailing at capacity. Wondering what everyone's experience has been and when the win/rejected email came.
Thanks!
I just got back from Freedom of the Seas weekend cruise. I had balcony room bid $350 and got an upgrade to a junior suite about a week before sail away. Worth every penny!

I have 6 adults celebrating college graduations, so I will be spending $3500 for the drink packages for a 7 night Odyssey cruise out of Rome! I should have booked a all inclusive like Celebrity, NCL, or even a Silversea vacation, would have spent a lot less money! Lesson learned😖

Amazing pictures! The Edge is such a beauty, we will be sailing on her in 2 weeks.
The ship looks like a ghost town, is this because Celebrity only allows a certain percentage to sail or is nobody booking cruises because of COVID?Thanks again for such a gorgeous review.

Hi, we will also be on the edge on the 20 th. We've got our excursions booked, still looking for something at Nassau.
Hello fellow Edge cruiser! I’m usually such a planner, but with this trip I’ve done nada.🤪 Looks like we won’t be in Nassau long enough to do much, departs 2:00

I likebigboats, Linda just reminded me that Saint Maarten was allowing passengers to tour the island independently on the day we were there. I stand corrected. My memory is correct for other ports on that cruise. I suspect this topic is frequently changing and I can only suggest that you either book a Celebrity Excursion if you really want to go on an island or take your chances with onboard bookings and island regulations applicable the day you visit their island. Bob and Linda
Thank you, I will book excursions before we board so that I don’t have to worry about it!

Thanks for the review. We will be on the Edge (2/20)and I was wondering if ship excursions sell out? I would prefer to explore on my own, but I was wondering if I should prebook excursions if that is the only way to get off the ship! Thanks.

Here's a fun list for you. May have some that you have not tasted. I created it for a Meet & Greet.
Wow very impressive bar list! I see an espresso martini, a getaway, and a hot, hot, margarita in my cruising future😀Thanks!

Looking forward to your observations! Have fun! 😃

Dinner looks wonderful! Did it taste as good as it looks?

Hi, I went into the casino to look around and see what was offered. They have 2 Blackjack tables. Min bet 10.00, max is 100.00. A craps table and a few slot machines. I never ended up there to play though.
I would say the Panorama Lounge would be the best spot for dancing. You will have to look at the Chronicle to see who is playing what music and what time.
Thank you!
Have fun on the Muse next month! I look forward to your adventures in Alaska, and what you think about the two ships similarities and or differences.😀
