  1. Hope it is okay to post this question here regarding banking/obtaining euros in Venice. I have Bank of America and their only affiliate in Italy is BNL D'Italia. I was hoping to obtain all my euros via ATM after arriving in Italy. Our arrival is in Venice (where we board the ship).

Since this hopefully a thread where many others have experience in Venice, I was hoping people would know if there is an ATM for this bank in Venice (maybe even at the airport) and whether this is a viable option.

I have never left home without some foreign currency but due to the worse exchange rates as well as fees for obtaining euros locally, I thought I would give it a try.

Thanks for all help, comments, warnings and suggestions.

According to Google Maps, there's a BNL branch around the corner from the Venetian Academy (Accademia) at the following address:

    Banca ****onale del Lavoro

    Rio Terà Antonio Foscarini, 877

30123 Venice, Province of Venice, Italy

Another site listed one at this address:

    Banca ****onale del Lavoro

    Bacino Orseolo

    Venezia

    Telefono: 041 667511

    Hope this helps!

Note: I guess CC thinks I'm posting about the German political party that started WWII. Yikes! The English word for the Italian word that is partially blanked out is "National".

  2. S10Catman has graciously compiled an extensive list of La Casa Del Habanos (LCDH) in the Caribbean and a few other reputable stores which sell Cuban cigars. The post below even has a price list (from October 2011) from the LCDH in Marigot.

If you really have an interest, I would highly recommend the "Cigar aficionados!" thread on the Carnival forum from which the post originated. It's rather lengthy, though - over 1500 posts and still growing! It's served as a gathering place for cigar lovers on Cruise Critic for the last three years or so...

  3. Royal Caribbean has introduced one of their super mega ships as well.

Just wanted to point out that Royal Caribbean is pulling the Mariner out of the market as well. The last Mexican Riviera voyage of the Mariner is Jan 9, 2011. On Jan 16, she'll be headed down to Brazil for a short season, then over to Europe for the summer, then wintering in Galveston, TX. As far as anyone knows, Royal Caribbean has no plans to base any ships out of Southern California in the foreseeable future (repositioning cruises excepted).:mad::mad::mad:

  4. Maybe I should just become part of the me, me, me crowd as well.

The only way I as a solo can get a deal from this cruise thing it booking a special needs cabins..it's the same price! Heck, I want more space. I want to get over on the cruiseline too. I'm actually paying for two people as a solo, so..might as well spread out (I would be totally justified). NCL has no rules regarding this..maybe just a suggestion, so I'm not breaking any rules. Also, someone here did say doing this type of thing is a smart idea. Hey, they can go to another NCL ship or maybe even another cruiseline, for that matter, to find a room to fit their needs... They just need to be more flexible and resourceful. Hmm.

I understand the sarcasm, and it's just my 2 cents, but comparing a couple booking 2 studios to an able-bodied couple booking an accessible room is just nuts.

    1. There are 128 studio cabins on the Epic. I don't see any cruise ships with even 1/2 that many accessible cabins, or even 1/4 that many accessible cabins.

    2. If a single can't book a studio cabin, they can still cruise. They may have to pay a bit more and will get a bigger cabin in the bargain. If a disabled person who needs an accessible cabin can't get an accessible cabin, it's not simply a matter of paying more, THEY CAN'T GO!

Disabled passengers aren't looking for a "deal", they're looking to be able to even take a cruise. Believe me, most all (if not all) disabled cruisers that I've met would be more than happy to pay rack rates (or more) for a standard cabin if it enabled them to be able bodied for the week!!!

  5. One upside (for the disabled community) to the design of this cabin that's being overlooked here. If we spread the word far and wide about how "bad" this cabin is, it may well become the one accessible cabin that able-bodied cruisers WON'T be interested in! :D

    That spells better availability!

  6. I've used both PrimeTime and SuperShuttle for trips to/from LAX (not from cruiseport - I live in LA), and have never had a problem with either. Just realize that you may make an extra loop before heading out of the airport if you catch them on their first time around and they're not yet full. Of course, the same goes for SuperShuttle as well. I've found PrimeTime to be a buck or two cheaper per person than SuperShuttle in general.

  7. I have seen various pictures everywhere but I think it would take longer to find the links then it would for me to just copy and paste the menus from the Word Doc I have saved with all of them.

The only ones I haven't seen confirmed yet are Teppanyaki and Wasabi. If anyone knows where there is a pic of either of these - please add to the list!

The following are the rest of the specialty restaurants (Cagneys, La Cucina, Shanghais, Moderno, Le Bistro, Cirque, Noodle Bar) plus the menus for Epic Club, O'Sheehan's and Room Service.

Still would love more info on the rest of the included restaurants. Anyone know what the menu is at the Spice H20 grill? Great Outdoors? The always available side of the menu at Taste and Manhattan??

I'm reasonably sure that this (and the next several photos after it) is the menu from Wasabi:
