  1. Hi Cruise Critics!

This cruise has been a long time coming…489 days to be exact, but who’s counting?! Hubby and I are first time cruisers with MSC. We have been cruising since 2002, mainly with RCI, and a few with DCL in between. We are long time Oasis class fans, we love our suites, we adore Coastal Kitchen, so full disclosure here…it will be hard not to make comparisons. However, we are going into this cruise with an open mind and we are looking forward to new experiences from MSC.

Enjoying your posts & scopes! :D

  2. Thank you for sharing your review. We will be sailing in 35 days (Oct. 18), and will be visiting other ports. I am a little concerned in the disembarkation delays that some have experienced.

We live in the North Texas area (Dallas/Fort Worth), and this will be our 2nd cruise where we will drive to the port. As it takes us about 5 hours or so to drive, I'm not looking forward to spending more time on the road to return home. We do plan to leave home on Friday after work and get some miles behind us. We will be staying in Galveston on Saturday night before the cruise.

    Thanks again for your review.

We will be following you on the Oct. 25th cruise. Several fellow cruisers will also be on your cruise doing B2B's.

The disembarking problems seem to be getting worse according to reports. On our cruise last year, we did the Self Assist Express Departure. This works if you can handle your own luggage for disembarking. RCL posted the instructions in the Day 5 Cruise Compass. You have to register at Guest Services and there are limited passes available. We had to assemble in the Metropolis Theatre and were off the ship by 7:30 and out of the terminal by 8 AM. We did not eat breakfast aboard to save time. Got that later on the road.

    Hope this helps. :)

  3. Greetings,

We will be taking our first RCI cruise in October, and wanted to get a general overview of recent opinions on which venues are not to be missed on our trip. We will be doing 7 days, Roatan, Belize, Cozumel...

The Mexican place (Sabor IIRC) sounds good... what does everyone think? I LOVE food (see video below), sadly for my waistline... but it is a cruise highlight for me....

We enjoyed both Sabor and Giovanni's Table. We ate at both twice last year and plan to do the same this year. Great wait staff at both.

Chops Grille was OK but seemed a little overpriced to me.

We did not try Izumi or Johnny Rockets.

    Curt
