  1. Another Zip Tie user.  I had numerous TSA locks cut off or damaged before switching to Zip Ties. Since then I've made about 15 overseas trips and haven't had one cut yet. Just remember to pack a nail clipper or something in your carry on to cut the Zip Ties when you arrive at your destination.

  2. sorry to hijack but instead of starting a new thread. My question is about aa. My ds and new dil are going to be returning from their honeymoon cruise into southampton and flying back home to the us from lhr. Can i check in for them online for their return flight and then they can get boarding passes once at the airport?

    yes

  3. The wife and I are on the Regent Explorer Western Caribbean cruise round trip out of Miami from March 1 to March 11, 2018. The schedule shows us leaving Key West on March 10 and arriving in Miami Sunday March 11 at 6:00 AM. My question is will Regent start debarkation that early? I figure if we depart the ship by 7:30 to 8:00 AM we should have plenty of time to clear immigration/customs and make a 10:30 flight out of MIA. Is that correct? Does anyone have any experience as to when they actually start debarkation when the ship arrives at POM at 6 AM and how long it takes for immigration/customs and getting to MIA?

  4. OK it only took four posts for a "daytime dress code" question to devolve into a "wearing pajamas in public" thread. Time to make the popcorn.

But to answer the original question re the MDR (OP said nothing about the HC) there really is no dress code. I have seen people in pool cover ups (that cover up essentially nothing) at MDR breakfast for years. And once at Afternoon Tea they tried to seat us at a table with a couple "gentlemen" wearing sweat-drenched wife beaters. After refusing they found a table for two for us, and one of the head waiters came over to apologize for no longer being able to refuse entry to the insufficiently attired anymore.

OK i'll bite, what are " sweat-drenched wife beaters "?

  6. The issue at Vancouver is actually pretty simple. The US Authorities have deals with a few non-USA airports to conduct Customs/Immigration clearance prior to flights. This allows flights from those airports to be considered "US Domestic flights" which means they can fly into any US Airport (with or without US Immigration). Vancouver is one of these airports so if you are flying from YVR to the USA, you will go through US Immigration prior to boarding your flight (once you are cleared you confined to an area of the airport reserved for USA bound flights. Global Entry does work at YVR since it is similar to entering the USA at an International Airport. As to what happened at FCO, we have no clue....but it sounds like somebody just screwed up and cut the traveler a break.

Yes we were flying from YVR to PHX non-stop and going through US Immigration/customs at YVR. They have a GE area just like in the U.S.A. except in order to use it they wanted to see our GE cards before they would let us into that area. We had pass ports out and in our hands but that made no difference to them, I said we had GE but they they still wanted to see the GE cards. They said that was normal procedure for YVR, if you don't have the GE card you can't enter the GE area. This was after I explained that we had never used a GE card in a U.S.A airport immigration/customs as we just went to the GE area and used our pass ports in the GE kiosk. We were early and the normal immigration/customs lines didn't look too long so we just moved over there without making a fuss. I made my initial post (#7) as an FYI for people that plan to use GE at YVR or other foreign airports going to the U.S.A.

  7. We just returned to the U.S.A from YVR last week. We are both GE but did not have our GE cards with us so they would not let us use their GE. They had a person checking for GE cards prior to entry into the GE area. Yes it would have saved us time to use the GE there.

First time I've ever been asked to see our GE card but this was the first time we have used GE outside of the U.S.A

  8. On a week cruise we always take $1000. Never spend that much, but want more than enough. Unlike others, I don't want to have to run and get change so I get lots of smaller bills.

    $300 in $20's

    $400 in $10's

    $200 in $5's

    $100 in $1's

That's a total of 210 bills. What do you use to carry those bills, a wheel barrel?

  9. Paying $10. for a cab ride to our FLL hotel instead of a metered $6-$7 is the absolute least of our worries.

Life must be wonderful if this is such a big issue. Why sweat the small stuff.....and this does not even make it on the radar screen!

    I agree

  10. We have done one Tauck and AMA river cruises and feel the same way. The service on Tauck was spotty at best. Our dining table of four had at least one serving mistake every day. It was the first cruise together for the four cruise directors and it showed, confusing and mixed directions from them. Breakfast and lunch food was fine but the dinners weren't very good. I was under the impression Tauck was suppose to be one of the best river cruise lines but AMA has them beat.
