So the test was positive. For all of us 😭. They won't be testing again.
The doctor called and asked about symptoms ( no fever, little residual sniffiness for some). She said we would be allowed to leave the ship. She asked if we were flying, we are not. She said we could drive home and needed to continue isolating for the full 10 days after the first positive test. She did not say what would be needed if we were flying.
Obviously we are disappointed by the outcome. We will find out soon what the procedure is for getting off the ship. I'm sure it isn't just strolling off with everyone else
I'm so sorry to hear this - I was hoping for a better outcome for all of you. Hope you get a redo of the cruise some time in the future. Safe travels home.

We leave in a week and will be on the train. One person traveling with us gets cold very easily. So I am a little concerned. I had a flight several weeks ago that was freezing and the flight attendant said there was nothing they could do - no blankets. I was in light Florida clothes and it was the most uncomfortable 3 hours. Did you or others complain to anyone on the train. They must have heat since the trains run all winter.
I always pack a pashmina (long scarf) in my carry-on or wear it if it is chilly out. Has saved me numerous times on cold flights. Have a great time on your trip. 🙂

I've just found your cruise research report and am enjoying your planning immensely. I am doing a similar trip in July and am hanging off your coattails. Honestly, with the great planning you are doing and allowing us your wonderful information - I am just so grateful and will definitely be using it. Thank you.
I also want to send condolences on the passing of your mother. It was a beautiful and heart felt tribute to the woman who was your mother. I am so sorry for your loss and that of your family.
I'm on page 4 now and look forward to the rest of the report. So must valuable information. I hope you, your wife, and two daughters have a wonderful holiday making many more great memories.

Views on food are so subjective. We are on Emerald currently and we would say that the food is as good as it has ever been. We have eaten mostly in the DR but have had breakfast and lunches in the buffet. Dining room servings are as per usual, no smaller in our experience.
My only complaint I guess was that the lamb shanks in the DR two nights ago were poor and the toast in the buffet is as thin as paper. Overall though, no real complaint from us.
I'm happy the food has been good for you. As you say food is so subjective, but it is such a big part of the cruising experience, that I wanted better. Have a wonderful holiday.

I'm sorry your trip had to end. I loved reading your blog and seeing all your gorgeous pictures. Hope those weeds and tree are taken care of by now. Very much looking forward to your next trip.

I have to agree with everyone who posted about the food on the Emerald Princess. We are back from our transatlantic crossing and in my post-cruise survey I gave the food a 3. It was the worst cruise food we have ever eaten on any cruise line! The one really good meal we had was at Sabatini's and I gave that venue a solid 10. Yes, the food was mostly edible but I expected more from a Princess Cruise.

Oh no - I can't believe this is happening to you and your husband. I am sending prayers, good thoughts, and best wishes for the remainder of your time on the ship. My husband and I are to board a transatlantic on April 16th and you are making me question whether this is really what we should be doing at this time.
Please stay well and I hope your husband is not experiencing too many difficult covid symtoms. I've been reading your blogs for years and will continue to enjoy travelling through your adventures. Thank you for taking the time to blog your trips all these years.

Can someone tell me how I can access the pictures please. I was always on past world cruises to see pictures but I haven't been able to see any of pictures this time😔.
I still am enjoying reading and I thank you for taking the time to post 💝💖

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Hope you feel better soon and can cruise again in the near future.

Thank you so much for all the updates. Like the above well wishers, I too, am happy you are home and can get some decent food. Kudos to Royal for seeing your family through this. 🙂
-
I sure hope you and your family are still doing okay. I got covid in Las Vegas but didn't test positive until a few days after I returned home. So much better to be in your own house rather than a hotel - and a pretty awful one at that. Has your food situation improved any? When is escape day?
Thank you so much for posting about this - lots of people wonder what would happen and now we know - at least in Spain on Royal.

Sometimes this happens to me too and I shut down my computer and reboot. The pictures then show up. Give it a try.
The first time I logged in here the pictures came up in the posts. Now when I came back the pictures are closed and you have to click on the link to photobucket on each one. Does any one know why or how to fix that? ThanksGreat review! I love all your pictures and can't wait to hear how you like CCL Vs NCL. We were pleasantly surprised and bought future cruise certificates on NCL but all the cruises I am finding I want our on CCL for this year!

I loved your report and will be looking for your next one about Europe. Thank you for taking the time to post such an interesting and detailed report.

Harry, of all the ruins you have seen - which place is the most impressive? I enjoyed your tour of these ruins and hope to see them myself one day. Thanks for a truly magnificent Trip Report.

Loving your report. Thanks for taking this huge amount of time out of your life for us on Cruise Critic. Much appreciated.

Firstly pinnacle is the only status that cannot be inherited and has to be earned.
That said DD is halfway there in her own right and just turned 15. Her goal is to make it by 18:D
(Told her to get a job!;))
Love it - 'told her to get a job!' :D
