  1. Just returned and 4 of us walked around the center part of the city. Didn’t feel any different than walking in a US city. The idea is to be aware of your surroundings and stay in areas with a lot of people. Saw a significant police presence on Independence St.

One fellow cruiser said he thought he and his wife were being followed, but went into a local store and when they came out, their supposedly stalker was gone.

  2. Does anyone know of a company that does charter sailing tours where the passengers can act as part of the crew? Not your typical motor sailing snorkel tours. We have three sailors in our group who would like to use their saing skills and not just ride around.

  3. Our group of 8 has a great day of sailing out of Falmouth Harbor, on the SE side of Antigua. We have 3 sailors in the group and didn’t want the standard motor catamaran tour. After an adventurous cab ride across the island, we got on a beautiful Benateau 40 ft schooner and sailed away. It’s not a trip for those looking for smooth water.

We sailed to a nearby cove and swam in crystal clear water for a while, then had some snacks and rum punch! The 3 sailors in our group all got to operate the lines and man the helm as we sailed on the Atlantic side of the island. About a 3 1/2 hour trip, but so much better than the snorkel trips we’ve been offered. True sailing for those that enjoy E ticket rides. Would definitely do again.

  4. We're leaving in 10 days and Amber Cove was cut from the itinerary so that we could have decent port times at the other islands. Haven't been on Princess since summer of 2016 when we took the Royal through the Canal. They were a month away from opening the new locks and it was impressive to see the ship "climb" the wall in the dock, with the wall only a couple of feet away. We would have liked to have stayed longer in Cartagena. Our best port was in Costa Rica where we did a non princess zip line tour. Over 20 zip lines. Then feeding wild monkeys on the way back. Missed Nicaragua due to sea swells. Want to do that trip again.

Will see how the Caribbean Princess compares to the Star, which we have been on twice. Looking forward to getting away from work for 3 weeks!

  5. Just got back from Alaska cruise on Star Princess. Juneau on 8-22 was a little over cast but upper 60's lower 70's, no rain. Skagway on the 23 rd was sunny and upper 70's. Locals said best weather in weeks. Ketchikan on the 25th was drizzly, but no hard rain. So it was different each day. No really bad weather during the entire trip. Sunned ourselves on the Lido deck several days. We felt it was better weather than could be expected.

  6. We have a group of 8 and 7 of them are big wine drinkers. I can see one or two of us having the AIB card and then buying bottles of wine for the table at the 40% discount. I know the others in our group would pay us back by maybe paying for a round when we're off the boat on an excursion. Or something to that effect. We work well with these types of situations. Seeing as this is also good for water, juice, shakes, as well as alcohol, I think it would be worth it. Two weeks till embarkation. :D

  7. Our first cruise in 6 years. Going to Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, and Victoria. Are some or any of the ship sponsored excursions worth the price? We want to see Mendenhall glacier, maybe do whale watching. Have heard of beautiful gardens on Victoria Island. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  8. Haven't cruised in 6 years. Looking at the all inclusive bar package, how does that compare to buying beer and wine individually? What does the ship charge for an average beer or a decent class of wine? Is it worth $56 per day? Is it worth it to be able to get 40% off of wine at dinner?
