  1. Taxi approx $60

    Super Shuttle/Prime Time $17pp.

    Plenty of shuttles available.

We had a res 2 different times and they never had it when we arrived at the shuttle stand.

So now we don't bother we just show up, no res needed.

It's still $17pp if your going from LAX to a hotel in San Pedro (Crowne Plaza) pre cruise, but both Super Shuttle & Prime Time have increased their fares from pier to LAX. Just booked Super Shuttle for a November return... fare is now $32pp.

  2. Three Canadians are accused of trying to smuggle 95kg (209 pounds) of cocaine into Sydney on the Sun Princess after an operation between Australian, New Zealand, US and Canadian authorities.

The 63-year-old man and two women, age 23 and 28, were arrested on Sunday after police and sniffer dogs searched the vessel when it berthed in Sydney and found cocaine in suitcases.

  3. According to the Marine Traffic online tracker (and the bridge webcam), The Grand Princess is headed for Ensenada.

She may or may not spend the entire day there, but that is her next destination.

She is traveling at about 17 knots. That is an acceptable speed.

I'm not seeing any updates on Marine Tracker since 12:24 on Wednesday 12/3... it says it's out of range. Do you have more recent information?

  4. “Crafted by Curtis” menu items offered in the main dining rooms will debut aboard Golden Princess in the fall and roll out fleetwide through the end of 2015. Menu items include chicken and leek pot pie, roasted pork belly with cognac apple sauce, and a selection of handmade pastas.

Chef Stone’s first restaurant at sea will debut in December aboard Emerald Princess, sailing from Ft. Lauderdale to the Caribbean and Ruby Princess, sailing from Los Angeles on cruises to Hawaii and Mexico. The rollout will continue on Coral Princess cruising the Panama Canal and then Sun Princess, which will bring Chef Stone’s restaurant to his home country, Australia.

Curtis Stone’s Chef’s Table experience will debut across the fleet beginning in early 2016.

It still looks like the new 'specialty' restaurants will only be on 4 ships and not fleetwide... any clarification on this?

  5. According to another article the new restaurant will only be on 4 ships...

Chef Curtis Stone is teaming up with Princess Cruises to create a new menu for all cruise ships, a new restaurant concept for four ships, and a special “Chef’s Table” experience, according to a press release.

The new restaurant will debut in December on the Emerald Princess ship, which sails from Ft. Lauderdale to the Caribbean, and the Ruby Princess, which sails in Hawaii and Mexico. The restaurant will be added to the Coral Princess, which sails on the Panama Canal, and Sun Princess, in Australia, next year.

  6. I have decided that I will no longer maintain my own website for a roll call. Maybe some members have been thinking I was trying to take over the group.

I have been on 2or3 roll calls that you initiated and never once felt that you had 'taken over', in fact I was a little envious of your organizational skills and thoroughly enjoyed the roll calls AND the spreadsheets that you put together. You got people involved... this particular one that you're doing now is probably just a fluke. I'm hoping you'll continue to do them...

  7. Last November on the Ruby and then again in February/March on the Grand they had breakfast pastries on display. I always go down between 445 and 500 for that first cup of coffee and then sit and read over by the window. There's always been a couple of people around at that hour! Maybe it's something new...

  8. I also live in Seattle and dislike those 15 hours flight days immensely. What I've done in the past is fly direct from Seattle to Boston or New York, spend the night at a hotel near the airport, and then finish the journey the next evening with a direct flight to my European departure port.

Will be doing the same thing this year with flights booked through Princess (eZAir)... Seattle to New York, New York to Venice, and the return flight from Fort Lauderdale to Seattle... cost worked out to a little less than $1000 for all 3 flights.

Much easier on the body dealing with time zones and fewer batteries were needed. I use an Inogen One G2 and have two 24 cell batteries... good for 14-16 hours at 2 LPM. Since I travel by myself, this is pretty much all I can manage plus my ONE carry-on sized suitcase (I do check it since it's free on international flights).

I also request an assist at airports to make it easier getting around and this way I can save my oxygen for the actual flight.

    .

  9. I have rented a concentrator from Special Needs at Sea on my last 3 cruises which I use at night in my cabin.

Last November, I had it delivered to my cabin in Venice and picked up in Fort Lauderdale 27 days later... in other words they can accommodate one way cruises as well as round trips.

As for the ship, I had to fax an Rx for the oxygen to Princess's medical department 30 days ahead... no fuss, no muss. I use my own POC onboard as needed.

Have 6 additional cruises booked, one starting from Venice this October on The Regal, another starting from Barcelona next year, as well as 4 RT here in the US.

Special Needs is very easy to work with and I'm quite pleased with the service I've received. Hope this helps...

  10. We much prefer Princess raising the price of the cruise across the board for all categories of cabins. Those in the lower priced cabins already reap the same benefit as those who pay more for higher priced cabins.

A full suite generally cost 4 to 6 times cost of an inside cabin, yet Princess basically provides exactly the same benefits. A mini-suite generally runs about 3 times the cost of an inside cabin.

Currently the those who fill the higher cost cabins subsidize the services and venues of those who choose inside and obstructed view cabins.

Sure we get breakfast at Sabatinis and an extra mini-bar set up in a full suite, but little else that those in the inside cabins do not get. Elites get the same benefits whether in the least costly or most costly cabin.

It may not be a popular solution, but it would be a lot more democratic (small d) to share the costs across the board.

    Just our opinion

Doing it this way would also penalize the solo cruiser... I go with an inside cabin, paying close to 170% as it is.

  11. Leave the base fares where they are, I'd rather pay extra for the add-ons I want than have an all inclusive fare.

Charge 5.00 per person for Alfredo's.

Complimentary room service between 6AM & 10PM (except for pizza) and have a service charge for after hours.

Increase the auto-tip amount by .50 daily and make the tips mandatory.

Above ALL else, notify people of changes in advance!
