As I understand it (from something that I read in a thread on here) there are regulations covering this and cruise lines are required to have the cash on hand to handle customer refunds. Of course it is an open question how compliant Carnival is in this regard but I still strongly suspect that the number of the refunds (unprecedented in itself) plus the reduced staffing and the reduced productivity that can come from working at home (I worked from home long before this pandemic hit and my systems aren't running as fast as they were because of the number of people using the internet) is what is slowing everything down. A lot also depends on whether or not they have an automated process for this or if every refund needs to be processed manually. I doubt that their process is automated.

Credit cards refunds are automated, gift cards manually.

  2. I also got tired of the decreasing perks from Carnival Player's Club (my gambling budget has increased over the years, but my offers went from 'free suite for 7 nights' to '$100 casino cash' to nothing after my last ~10,000 point cruise), so I made the switch to Norwegian. Just finished my first cruise with them a few weeks ago and am 100% converted. I e-mailed CAS (Norwegian's casino dept) to see about maybe getting a 5-10% discount on my next cruise even though I'm a newbie who is still in the first tier of their system - I was pleasantly shocked when they called me back that day and offered me a comped ocean view (which I'm upgrading to a suite for about $600pp). Carnival who? :D

Carnival who is right. Just got back today from a 4 day on Carnival Paradise. Tight! So many gamblers complaining.

  3. Wow! So you can ask what's available even on your first cruise? I had no idea!

We're trying Celebrity for the first time and I'll have to ask if they have anything...

I have cruised at least 10 times as a member of the Ocean Players Club. While the comps have never been great, more recently, they are horrible.

I am cruising next week with Carnival. Offered me $100 at the cage and a deluxe VIP Bon Voyage package and I am paying for my room.

Received a letter from a casino host at Royal Caribbean/Celebrity after I booked this cruise. She is offering any cruise for taxes only. She said I was free to refer other gamblers. Email me if you want more information. Kimster@Tampabay.rr.com
