  1. We have a group of us going on the Freedom November 6-14. We are flying into Fort Lauderdale on November 5 and are trying to find a decent hotel that is not too expensive but also offers airport and cruise shuttles. We will also be staying in Fort Lauderdale on November 14 after debarkation as flights home on Sunday are over $200 more than staying the extra day in Fort Lauderdale. So, we will need to stay the two nights.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. We have seen decent rates at the Ramada Fort Lauderdale Airport / Cruise Port hotel but not really knowing anything about this hotel makes us a bit nervous at booking. What is your take on this hotel? Is there anything around it that would warrant the stay, meaning restaurants?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!!!!!!

  2. There is a reason they put a safe in your cabin. Use it. It is too easy a temptation for someone to just pocket a pretty trinket they believe will not be noticed until you get home. I agree it was more likely a party hopper, if your cabin was open that way, but possible it was a staffer. Use the safe and eliminate all temptation.

  3. Just my opinion, but, maybe just this once, the gamers should try a dose of Actual Reality.

I can understand kids wanting to bring their XBOX or PS2 or whatever. Sea days may get a bit boring for the younger cruisers. There is only so much that goes on for kids on sea days, especially if they don't go to Camp Carnival or Club O2. JMHO.

  4. Thanks to everyone who has responded about the 1a's. I plan to travel on the Truimph, April 5 sailing(solo) its a 7 day. I might change my mind, once I check the prices. I really just wanted a 5 day, with ports Grand Caymen and Cozumel, so I guess I should start checking prices and cabins. I will need to get a book with the cabins in them so I can see what cabin I really want. Like I said, I want the ones with the big windows, so I will take a look. Thanks for your help. I'm nervous about going by myself, but need the time to get away.(cancer enter my life last year and mess alot of things up) so I just want to get away from it all.(it has been almost a year of chemo and cancer free, so hopefully I've beaten it) Thanks all, kmbb

Best wishes with your amazing fight! Hope you find the perfect room with the perfect window for all that relaxation.

  5. So this is my first cruise so this is new to me, so the sum of it all is put some alcohol into a, lets say mouthwash bottle and pack it well (so it doesn't get caught or spilled) and treat yourself to a free drink now and then, correct? IF not, help me!!!!! This sounds like fun.

Also, I am a goody goody, so I must ask......if you do, lets say get caught, they just take it. You don't get in any trouble. ha ha ha:eek:

My husband and I went on our first cruise on the Carnival Conquest September 7, yes, the Hurricane Ike storm and yes we lost our vehicle. Anyway, being the lawbreakers that we are, we packed 2 bottles of Bloody Mary Mix, 2 bottles of wine, one bottle of vodka, one bottle of rum, 12 bottles of water, 12 Pepsi, 6 Sierra Mist, 6 Diet Mt. Dew and 6 Diet Dr. Pepper. Then when we went to Jamaica we got 4 sample rum bottles from the Appleton Rum Factory, Large bottle of Banana Cream Rum, Irish Cream Rum, Rum Brandy, regular rum and no one made us turn them over until the last of the cruise. But then again, we didn't volunteer to go to the table to turn them over. We also purchased a sample set of Milangro Tequila on the ship and 5 sample bottles of Absolut Vodka in 5 flavors. Those last two items were kept until the end of the cruise but then again, who cares.... we had more alcohol in our room than most of the bars..... Party on Garth.... Party on Wayne!!!!!!!!! And just so you know, we ended up with a bottle of champagne in a gift basket that had been sent for our anniversary and another bottle of Chardonney wine as a gift in a fruit basket. And the funny thing.... we ended up bringing all the alcohol home except for a small amount of the rum and vodka, all the wine, champagne and the rum from Appleton. Unless you are a drinker.... don't bring more than you will drink. It takes up way too much luggage room and you just have to lug it back home. And, not a bottle was broken in embarkation or debarkation. Woo Hoo!!!!!!
