In some ways this makes Penny one of our most American of authors, the belief in the incorruptibility of heroic individuals in the face of institutional decay and the healing power of an Arcadian ideal.

But none of this matters as much as my complete failure to understand how you implement accents on this website. Is it just a matter of setting up the keyboard on my iPhone to do so?

It’s a huge frustration to me.

On an iPhone or iPad you simply hold your finger on the letter that has the accent and all the variation appear above, just tap the one you want e.g. óòôöõōøœº all done holding down the O

can you confirm this? It seems fundamentally wrong that someone who booked an inside can outbid someone who booked a verandah, without regard to the significant price differential on the original bookings.

    Tony

Sorry Tony, I didn’t phrase that well; I meant two  below us in the LCV.

  3. The same thing has happened to us Ann, a Canadian consolidator has our B2B next month for less than half the price we paid including flights, transfers, two nights in a hotel in Tokyo, a city tour and free Wifi none of which we have of course.

We’ll certainly be using the same tactics as you in future.

  4. Ouch the cruise I was tracking was c£3800 each until this morning and it is now £5700 each...... its a later 2019 booking with plenty cabins available........ I think I will be waiting a little longer........I just cannot get the hang of the pricing at the moment.

I got a written quote for a cruise whilst on board on Wednesday and the 05 ocean view is now £1,500 more expensive pp. Fortunately we booked a balcony for £500 pp cheaper than today’s prices.

  5. Hi everyone, we are returning to Azamara after a period with Celebrity. Can experienced cruisers who may have taken AZ through the Panama, confirm if Azamara still offers complimentary shuttle transportation?

I'm wondering specifically about Cartagena, Colombia. It throws me a tad when I see "Complimentary shuttle transportation" on web pages but followed by an asterisk and "where available".

There was definitely one when we were there last January.

  6. As a summer resident of Ibiza I should just like to add a few points.

It is very unusual for an Azamara ship to dock in the Cruise Terminal at Botafoc, in fact it is the only time I have noticed it there. All other times it docks right in the centre of the old town as it did last Friday. This means that there is no need for a shuttle. They always have very good tourist information on board with an excellent DIY walking map of the old town. A visit to D'Alt Vila and the cathedral is really worthwhile ; I would avoid midday though as it is too hot. A walk during the evening, when it comes to life, is an alternative to staying on board after dinner. The little boutiques are open until late and there are many small restaurants and bars where you can have a leisurely drink and watch the world go by. An evening stroll around the port area is also interesting where the most expensive and luxurious yachts in the world dock.

With regards to the weather, it was unbearable. All time records have been reached this month. However, it wasn't the temperature but the humidity that caused the problem. We awoke to soaking wet lawns and terraces as though it had rained; everyone complained at the lack of energy and feeling of apathy. Hopefully, we shall not have another two weeks like it. Temperatures and humidity levels have returned to normal and we now have cool nights again that require at least a sheet to cover you in bed.

Finally, September is a wonderful time to come, the weather is great and there are far fewer tourists. If you have any further questions, please ask.

  7. We are currently doing the second leg of a B2B and were in 6056 last cruise. We were given the cabin two weeks before departure and loved it. It is not at all noisy, very near the stairs and everything is only a few decks either up or down. There were three chairs on the balcony, otherwise everything was the same as any other CC suite outside. The bathroom is great, we didn't have any problems with storage and the wardrobes in the cabin are identical to any other suite.

The position of the cabin was really great during the rough crossing we had through the Caribbean on the last two days before we hit Cartagena, we hardly felt any movement at all.

I do hope you booked the cabin; we would definitely take it again if it became available at the last minute.

  8. We returned recently from a wonderful TA on the Quest and felt we had to comment on the greatly improved food in Discoveries and other venues. We have sailed many times on Azamara so feel we can compare and there is no doubt in our minds that this was the best dining ever. Not only does there seem to be more variety but the menu seems to be more extensive.

The fresh moules, brought on board along with a magnificent cheese board in France, were mouthwatering. The fresh salmon from Cork was the best we have ever tasted and was cooked to perfection. In St John's they purchased local cod and haddock; all this was in addition to the main menu.

I do hope the powers that be in Miami take note of the positive comments made, the budget has obviously been increased and this is very much appreciated. Long may it last!

  9. Hi Phil

Hope you had a great birthday yesterday

We are on this sailing and I was wondering if the island had its own reef? If so I may pack my snorkelling gear

    Vicki X

Hello there Vicki, we hope you and Charlie are well. Fredy and I had a great day on the island and the snorkelling is great, you'll really enjoy it. The island is very small, it couldn't have taken us ten minutes to walk around it. I really can't imagine a resort having been built there.

Although everywhere has its charm, Male isn't the most interesting place we've been to. It has a fish market and mosque and not much more to see. On the occasion we were there, not the time we did Kuda Bandos with Azamara, everyone was back on the ship after about an hour and a half, less for many.

If you are tendered as we were in 2014, definitely take the free tender to the island, you'll love it.

  10. We sailed into Colombo twice last year and on both occasions the ship organised the visas free of charge. In fact, all we have in our passports are entry stamps. We hold UK and EU passports but believe this was the same for the U.S., Canadian and Australians too.

  11. Alfredo1, thank you for your kind words.

I would like to say that it is lovely people like you,who get into the spirit of friendly interaction with fellow passengers as well as crew, that make cruising with Azamara so much more special and a feeling of returning "home". With so many returning passengers you never fail to encounter familiar faces and like minded people.

We too, look forward to our paths crossing again.

  12. I don't often post here but really feel that I want to show my appreciation for the wonderful treatment given to my family on a recent cruise on the Quest from Chennai to Singapore.

We did the previous cruise too so this one made our sixteenth with Azamara but the first time with some younger members of our family: our daughter, son, his wife and their young twin daughters who celebrated their 3rd birthday on board.

I cannot begin to say how well the crew reacted to having such young children on board, nothing was too much trouble, indeed when we were quite happy with something they weren't and just tried to make things even better. Eyup, our butler was outstanding anticipating our every need. I had always thought him to be a little serious but he just came to life around the girls, amusing them, giving them gifts, decorating their room.Mario too, went out of his way to assist us in any way he could. In fact, the whole dining staff were incredible, several making them little animals out of the napkins. You could see they all loved them being there and in spite of the girls being identical, they learnt their names and which one was which almost immediately.

On the day of their birthday in Phuket, which was the White Night too, Ryszard arranged a special cake with chocolate ice cream on top and Tony sang happy birthday to them along with all the passengers on deck, they really did feel like little princesses.

The Azamara crew always make everyone feel special on board but this time they outdid themselves. Thank you, everyone single one of you for making that cruise the best one ever for us and one that the rest of our family will never forget.
