Ok, this is the easiest question we have ever answered on CC. Without a doubt the best pizza at sea is to be found on Princess ships. They make the dough from scratch, use specially trained pizza cooks, its fresh, and wonderful. We say this having cruised on 12 differrent lines. There is a reason for the great pizza on Princess. Several years ago there was an Italian cruise line called Sitmar (we loved that line) that had real pizza parlors on all their ships (staffed with Italian cooks). When Princess bought out Sitmar they made a wise decision and decided to keep the pizza parlors (on the existing Sitmar ships). When they realized it was so darn popular they simply kept up the tradition.

Good to know... that is awesome! I do LOVE Carnival pizza though, and the cruise is way cheaper! I'm with you, though... WISE decision... that almost sounds awesome enough for me to book a Princess cruise... maybe when it's just me and a friend and not my whole family of 5! lol

I don't have time to do Tabyana because the kids and I are ziplining at Clip N Zip first... I loved your pics, even if the snorkeling isn't as good as Tabyana this looks like a GREAT way to finish up the trip. The kids are gonna LOVE the ski lift. And my oldest will enjoy snorkeling even if it's not SUPER fabulous... your pics are great, thanks so much.

As many others have said, this deck is great. We had a forward cabin and a great view of the bridge. We didn't notice the motion but my wife wore a scopolamine patch. They are the size of the small, round bandaids and you put them right behind your ear. One patch every three days and they stayed on even when she was in the water. A four patch supply cost us just $7 through our medical insurance and our regular MD prescribed them for her.
About Panorama Deck: WE LOVED IT! We had a four person room and loved it so much last fall we booked the same room on the Triumph which has a similar layout. We were 1052 and will actually stay in 1053 next time (as we're taking our youngest and will have 5). It's right off the Lido deck, right under the Spa and Camp Carnival is the next deck up (above the Spa deck). It was the perfect location for us. We were right next to the stairs/elevator and never heard a peep. The room was quiet, our steward was awesome, we never had to use the elevator -- perfect.
Movement... yes it's there. For me, it's a bonus. I like feeling the gentle rocking, it reminds me I'm on a cruise! If you're prone to motion sickness try those patches the above poster mentioned or take ginger pills. There are various posts about motion sickness and most everyone gets over it quickly with mild medicaiton.
I will ALWAYS do Panorama deck... for us the location is just the best!

I note you have no eating suggestions for Hilo.
Cafe Pesto. Great, eclectic pizza and other stuff. (One of the best pizzas I've had anywhere.)
Kiawe Kitchen at Volcano. It's unusual, but very tasty.
(and we must never forget the Aloha Mixed Plate on Maui. Where does the Old Lahaina Luau get its food? Aloha Mixed Plate. And yes, the photo on their website is what it's like.)
"Ponds" restaurant in Hilo sits on stilts right over the Ice Ponds which is an inlet of water that is popular for swimming. Ask for a table by the windows (actually there are no windows...just open air) so you can see and feed the fish in the water below you. Enjoy!
(I found the Ponds entry posted on here a few weeks back and have it on "my Hawaii list." We're doing the heli tour of Kiluaea and wanted a good lunch place... we're also snorkeling at Richardson's black sand beach, which seems to be one of the few black sand beaches you can swim/snorkel at).

Just another Kudos for Camp Carnival. My 8 yo and 2 yo attended. No problems. DD 8 did not want to hang with us at all. DD2 cried day 1 and some of 2, but they were very kind in working with us. After day 2, all she talked about was camp
My 3 yr old DD and 8 yr old DS had a WONDERFUL time at CC -- my 3 yr old sometimes was really excited and sometimes would get all dressed up (like for the Princess Party) and then change her mind... we're easy going enough that it didn't really matter. We loved when they went to camp though and we got "grownup" time... we highly recommend the pajama parties at night for a few hours of grownup hot tub time or casino time -- we did that nearly every night!!! We'd take them up in their PJs and pick them up around 11. We took naps every day during the mid-day CC break time so they were fine to be up a little later anyway. We'd go get pizza and ice cream, hang out for a bit and go to bed around 12am! (At home they go to bed at 8.30 every night :) -- we had a wonderful time and I can't imagine doing it any differently when we go next year!!!
I need to ask recent cruisers on Conquest if they had any problems with smoking. I am VERY allergic to cigarette smoke and my sister is asthmatic, so we need to know if there is smoking all over the ship or is it confined to certain areas? I know Carnival's policy is to have particular lounges, the casino, and certain areas on deck for smokers, but do most adhere to the policy?
If the majority of smokers limit themselves to the assigned areas, we can just avoid them. If it turns out that the limitations aren't enforced and people smoke where ever they want, we will have to cancel our cruise. Our health is far more important than a vacation.
Thank you in advance for your honest opinions and experiences.
The casino is very smoky... it makes my eyes water. Other than that, though, I didn't have a problem with it at all... it seemed like they all stayed on the opposite side of the ship (was it port and I was aft? -- dunno) I was in 1052 and stayed on that side of the ship and had NO problems at all (except in the casino where I expected it). I never noticed anyone smoking elsewhere, even my husband, who smokes, had no problem finding a place to smoke and keeping to those places. (Now he has electronic cigarettes so it doesn't matter anyway)! Maybe one day everyone will go to those! -
We're sailing April 8th with 3 kids (8-11). In Jamica, I can't decide between the Jungle river tubing or sunset beach. Also, in Cozumel, we were thinking paradise beach. Would this be too similar to sunset beach day? Grand Cayman, of course, the stingrays....even though we've done this before w/o kids and didn't think it was that big of a deal. Kids will probably get a kick out of it tho.
Thanks for any info.
We did Sunset Beach and it was AWESOME, the kids loved it, I loved the rum, and though it was cloudy and the water wasn't clear we had a GREAT time!!! DO SUNSET!!! In Coz we did Nachi Cocum and it was GREAT. My 3 year old played on the beach and my 8 year old snorkeled. The water was calm and clear, the beach was clean and NOT CROWDED! I thought it was a GREAT time because it was all about us being together on a beach and less about constant entertainment. It was $49 for adults (all food/drinks included) and my son was $12 and he got food/drinks, too. My daughter was free. They loved all the frozen drinks at Sunset and Nachi and got as many as they wanted. I highly recommend both beach breaks!!! (If your kids are older and want to play on all the stuff, though, Paradise may be better for you in Coz... I've heard only good things about it and I do NOT think it would be too similar to Sunset Beach). -
At Gymboree you can buy boys and girls swimsuits that have built in swim diapers. I used those for my kids for years. That would be a good option for kids who either a)need one or b)just in case. Also, it wouldn't be obvious, if you wanted to let them play in the splash area. They're probably on sale if you get one now, or order one online. They hold up really well, too.
-
I want in... I need some motivation. Are you going to message us when the group starts? My e mail is spaceflower22@aol.com. Let me know when you start the group. I'm down for weigh ins and advice... more info on the Gold's Gym cardio would be great. I like my Wii Fit -- I like the boxing and step -- wish there were more step options.
-
The Panorama deck does have an observation deck forward. I think this is a great deck, especially for a family. You will be close to Camp Carnival, the Lido pools and slide, and the gym. The gym has large private multi-head showers. This can be a real time-saver for dad and/or a son to use while the ladies dress in the cabin.;)
Fantastic idea... THANKS!
-
Is that front lookout area on most floors? We're going to be on the Panorama deck, is this good for accesibility? We're actually 2 floors down from Camp Carnival... that makes me happy (as we have two kiddos who will hopefully be spending a lot of time there)!

I had no idea... we were planning on coming back for our cruise next month and we brought a small bag with a change of clothes so we could swim in the cenote. It was very hot and the cenote was refreshing and wonderful. The kids are thrilled to be going back. They will have no problem with you bringing in water. Do the guided tour, even the short one (we chose the short one), it's full of information!
