  1. Oh I so love this thread!

Here are my heroes from my October transatlantic (some of the best 14 days I've ever had on a cruise ship).

Bar waiter - Eligo (omg, I don't think I've ever connected with any other person on a ship as much as I did him). He was working in Shakers at that point but had told me that he'd be moving to another area the week after we got to Miami. Please, if you find him, say hi for me:D

Bartenders - (yikes, note the plural there!) I Made (best frozen daiquiris ever!), Kenneth and Santosh. I never thought I would find a better bartender than Clarence but I'm pretty sure these boys may have done it. LOL!! Still love Clarence though.

Entertainment staff - Lio (I believe he comes back to the ship this weekend). He was so much fun!!! Adorable Argentinian:D

I'm not sure if it was a result of the amount of time I had onboard that really allowed me the time to get to know these guys but they were all heroes to me.

Have fun on my favourite ship of all time! I want to go back so badly ... hmmh, how can I make Epic adventure #4 happen? :D

  2. I, too, just got off of the 14 day TransAtlantic sailing. The Epic is in fine form with an amazing crew onboard right now. I know a few people who did a b2b and are currently on the ship right now. In fact, one just posted (on another unmentionable site) about how much she loved Jamaica:D

Have a great cruise on my favourite ship. I will really miss her when she leaves us for Europe

  3. Sally, just discovered your live from review!! I haven't had a chance to really get into it yet but I will for sure tomorrow when I'm hopefully more awake:D

I loved chatting with you both here (and somewhere else) leading up to our cruise. I still can't believe that we never crossed paths on the ship.

Can't wait to get into this review! Miss the sea yet? I sure do!

  4. In the balcony rooms the couch is short and opens to a single bed. Fourth person would be in a bed that folds down from the ceiling. In mini suites the couch is longer and opens into a double bed for third and fourth person to share. Minis also have larger bathrooms. Some (MA and MC categories) have bathtubs.

Not the case at all - it is a single bed at best. I've slept on one a few times during my Epic cruises. We've always booked an MA (mini suite with bathtub).

To the OP, not much difference in the room actually except the room is a bit longer (not wider).

  5. I'm following along with this thread too as I'm in the same boat (sorry, no pun intended).

We're booked for Feb 2016 in an aft right now with the option to switch if necessary.

It's quite exciting booking a ship that is still being built actually. I'm looking forward to all of the announcements:D

Hope you can make the TA work Sissasmom! Great gift.

  6. I just got off the Epic a few weeks ago. I'll agree that many of the lounge chairs are showing their age but I did notice that there seemed to be a 'repair' zone set up a few times during my 8 days onboard.

Carpets were in fine shape. I never noticed anything wrong with them.

Motion - well, I will say that I did notice more motion than my last cruise on her but many who were on my same sailing said they didn't notice it. It certainly wasn't the type of motion that had you pinballing down the hallways but it was noticeable to me. I wouldn't worry too much. It certainly hasn't caused me to cancel my 14 day TA on her in October:D:D

I still love this ship as much as I always have. Go and have a great cruise and don't worry too much about the few negative reports you've heard. She's a great ship with an even greater staff right now - they were stellar!

  7. I've always heard leaving it open affects the temperature in the surrounding cabins, but I'll admit to doing it.

Hmmmmh, interesting ... perhaps this would explain why my cabin on my recent Epic sailing was always hot. We never could seem to cool it down enough to be comfortable (yes, I know - we should have called the front desk about it but didn't).

My previous sailing on the ship was quite comfortable.

OP, to answer your question - no, I don't leave it open (especially in this case when we didn't want to add humid, hot air into an already hot room. LOL!).

    Have a great cruise!!!

  8. I am very happy to hear that others have had great experiences on the island because it truly is stunningly beautiful.

I can also say that I hope that no one else is subjected to what I experienced during my first 30 minutes onshore. Sadly it was negative enough to leave me with a very bad taste about the citizens of the island.

Would I go back, yes. I'd like to think that it was a one of experience (like I said, I hope that no one else has to go through it) and I'm certainly willing to give it another go should the opportunity arise.

I doubt that I'd book with the same tour operator though as she was a bit scattered ... and maybe if she was more organized, we would have gotten out of the cruise terminal faster. Who knows.

  9. So' date=' the Epic felt like home by the time the cruise was over. I would love to book a Haven suite in the future. [/size']

The slides are fabulous! I wouldn't mind a TA on the Epic. Not many more of those though since she is going to Europe full time in the future.

I AM PLATINUM NOW!!!! Woo Hoo! Too bad my next cruise is a year and a half away. :(

Epic definitely feels like my cruising home. I can't put my finger on it but I love this ship. As for the TA, join me:D:D:D 14 lovely days!

Congrats on the Platinum status ... I'm getting there myself (all on the Epic, it seems. lol)

Again, thank you so much for the great review. I only wished that we had had more time onboard to get to know one another. Perhaps one day!

  10. Thanks for the review - we were on the same sailing as you.

I do have to laugh about not knowing who the CD was on the cruise. I kept thinking that he was everywhere that I went;) What I found odd was the fact that he'd turn over to the mike quickly to an assistant though. Maybe it's his way of 'training' a newbie ... don't know. I guess it works though because one of the assistants was great!

BTW, the CD was JC Sanchez.

Oh and I wanted to say sorry about the steward. He must have been brand new. The fellow that we had was THE best steward we've ever had on any cruise.
