Hey everyone, Does anyone know if it's possible to rent a car or scooter and go to the ruins on your own (not with a tour)? We have been to the ruins so we don't want to go but our friends we are travelling with have never been and would like to check them out. We are only in port 7am to 2pm so they were wondering if they could go on their own so they could just explore them on their own and get back in plenty of time. Thanks!

Wondering if anyone knows what will be available to do in Aruba Christmas Day? I think a lot of things may be closed. Any ideas for our family of 4. DH and myself with kids ages 12 and 14. Thanks!

Since you said you are travelling with a group of about 40 people you may want to see if others are interested in doing similar things and book your excursions privately. I have done this with our group of 10 on our upcoming cruise in January and gotten some very good group rates. We are booked for a private 4 hour snorkel tour in Cozumel with cozumelcruiseexcursions dot net for only $50 pp. Some tour providers will even give the person organizing the excursion theirs for free or at a bigger discount.

I'm curious as to what everyone considers above and beyond or excellent service from your room steward? I always hear everyone talking about getting to know their steward and how wonderful they are but on all my cruises I have barely seen my steward except for possibly on the first day where they have made a point to say hi and to be perfectly honest I'm happy with that. As long as my room is clean and tidy (we don't ever leave it a mess) and our beds our turned down when we need them we are happy. We do of course enjoy a cute towel animal as much as the next person :)

I have a question for those of you who do take your car seats. What do you do with them/how do you carry them around when in port? Let's say you take a cab to the beach or something....do you then install them in the cab to get there, then take them out and carry them with you around at the beach (or wherever else) untill you are ready to leave? This sounds very difficult.

Too bad they don't make a car seat/stroller combo for older babies/kids like they do with infant carriers (or do they?). It would be so much easier if you could take the car seat out of the car and then snap it into some kind of stroller base that the child could then sit in.

Luckliy my kids are just about out of car seats (the youngest is still in a booster) but I often travel with my family and my sister has a toddler and a baby on the way so this could be an issue for her.
