  1. Got an e-mail that my pre cruise planner show reservations were cancelled. I called right away and was told they weren't cancelled, and she sent me a copy of what they had. No, they all weren't cancelled, but we had reservations for the same show on two different nights, and two on the same night. They said it was a computer glitch and they did try to fix them, but we still have the wrong ones. We leave Wednesday for our cruise on Saturday, so there's not much time. Just a heads up --if you've made show reservations, check them.

  2. Megacruiser, I haven't read a review as complete and comprehensive as yours, ever. It has been wonderful following along with you. I leave in two weeks, and feel I'm well prepared for my journey. First cruise on oasis class ship.

I do have one question -- I am physically challenged and have to use a scooter. The photos of central park show walkways that look extremely narrow. Is there room to maneuver a scooter thru the park? On other ships it hasn't been a problem, but this is the first 'central park.'

Thanks again for your wonderful review.

  3. Does anyone have a photo of a forward outside view cabin? The one in the front of the ship facing forward? My sister booked that cabin thinking it was a big window, and she is kind of claustrophobic. the balcony cabin was too much money (she's sailing alone), so she thought that window would be okay. If anyone has a picture, it sure would be appreciated. Or, if you can just tell us if the window is bigger than a porthole???

    Thanks

  4. Does anyone know when the first formal night is on the Eastern Caribbean cruise? We'll be in Nassau on the second day (Sunday), and would like to go to Chops that night. However, if that's the formal night we don't want to go then, and will go another night. The C & A rep thought the formal night was on that day. Anyone know?????????

  5. Thanks. We want to find a Wal-Mart, Walgreen, or other store to buy our water and stuff we need but don't bring with. Also, a nice restaurant for dinner. Car is more reasonable than taxis - $13. For the day. If you know a good place for dinner, we're open to suggestions.

  6. We're thinking about doing this in May. Our plane gets in at midnight Thursday night (Friday am). We're staying at the hyatt place in Dania. We can rent a car at the airport, and drive to the hotel. (The hotel shuttle stops running at midnight.) Friday we can go and do whatever, without depending on taxis. Saturday morning we can drive to the port and return the car there. They have a shuttle to take you to the ship. (Car rental is $14 per day) Has anyone done this and if so, does this make sense?

  7. I use a scooter, and have an accessible cabin. It is such a blessing. Without it I wouldn't be able to cruise. However there is a downside to using one. When you need the elevator to go down to dinner, they are mostly full, and there's no room for a scooter. Even if you're the first person in line for the elevator, rude people cut right in front of you and once I was almost knocked off the scooter with people pushing to get on. If at all possible, use a walker with a seat. I also have one of those, and use it over the scooter whenever possible, because people tolerate the walker more than the scooter. You can also take a walker on the tender if any of your ports are tendered. All that said, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time, no matter which way you decide to go.:)

  8. Finished our on line check in, and on the last page of the set sail pass there was a small picture of a luggage tag. I could not find where to print them, so called RCI and was told there is no way to print them anymore. You have to get them at the port. We're on the oasis, and I really have a hard time believing there are going to be 3000 people waiting for the porters to get your luggage tags and then have to fill them out. Has anyone else heard this???? Any comments?

  9. Cape Liberty is one of the best. You have to take a bus to the ship, and once you get there, the wheelchairs are waiting. Better system than San Pedro or San Juan. (Don't know about any other ports). Depending on the time, if the cabins are open they'll take you to your cabin. Otherwise, they'll take you to the Windjammer so you can sit and have lunch.

  10. Just one more answer for you - There are 2 companies that rent wheelchairs/electric scooters for RCI and Princess. I've rented from Care Vacations my last 3 cruises, and this one (4 nites) I priced both companies. Care Vacations was $195 for the 4 nights, and Special Needs at Sea is $245. I figured that for 4 nites, $50 was better in my pocket than in Care Vacations, so I'm going with Special Needs. I leave in 3 days, and am hoping everything works out and I will then continue with special needs at sea.
