  1. I am up enough on my NCCL stock to pay for the cruise. The extra $250 is A very nice bonus. I am not selling it nor my Carnival shares. People are certainly cruising. Asia is creating new opportunities for the lines. Cheap oil prices help the bottom line. Overbuilding might become an issue.

  2. Our cruise on Crystal with inclusive laundry room was a comparable price to O. While rooms on Crystal are not equal to Seabourn, I have a feeling that the baths on O will be reminiscent of RCCL. Fortunately, I will not be spending much time in the room.

How many washing machines does O have? Guess the bath is not big enough to hand wash.

  3. To me the most important aspect of insurance is an unforeseen medical event. Even though my health insurance covers $50,000 overseas, I want to make sure I can be evacuated. Personally, if I lose the price of the cruise I am not happy, but I can lose any equal amount on investments. I underinsured the price of the cruise which will still provide all the medical benefits and some reembursement should something happen.

  4. Thank you all. As the itinerary is what truly is most important, we will give it a shot. There are no penthouses left on the cruise we want. The veranda room looks okay. How small are the baths? I cannot tell from the Photos. I sure it will be sufficient, just curious.

  5. i know that my question is very subjective, but.... We have not travelled on any NCCL products and are used to Seabourn and Crystal. We like the itineraries, but are used to exceptional service and food when we travel.

Any travelers who have travelled on the premium lines, I would appreciate your comparisons. Interested in knowing if there are speaker onboard too.

  6. Would like to do the South American itinerary, but have been on two cruises with executive chef Anne Mari. Her culinary expertise is nonexistent. The ship looks gorgeous. We are used to Crystal and Seabourn whose food is superb. Just have to decide, if the food aspect is that important.

  7. If you are a past traveller on Seabourn or any of the Carnival lines it qualifies you for special pricing. The cruise that I am going on this summer in the Med was priced at a hair over $3,000 per person. My agent gives me 10% back when I return. A similar cruise on Windstar was 2700. I do not have a cavaliar attitude especially in this economic envirnoment, I even considered cancelling the cruise. Both my husband and I are celebrating special birthdays and fortunately did not have investments with Bernie Madoff. Beyond a doubt Seabourn is a fairy tale experience with menu by Charlie Parker, free flowing drinks( alcoholic and non), big bathrooms, full windows or sliding doors, as well as a table for in suite dining and while the service is nice on Windstar does your cabin stewart give you a choice of Bulgari or Molton Brown toiletries?Once the cruise is over I go back to being a suburban housewife knowing for a week I was treated like a queen and my husband a king.

  8. I just read your posting about the charge for various beverages on Windstar. It is outrageous. By the time you add that to the cruise price you would be better off on Seabourn. I have been on both lines and thought Windstar was great after I had cruised on RCC, then I tried Seabourn and there absolutely is no comparison. Prices on Seabourn are not that much more, especially on European itineraries, when you include the fact that there is no tipping, charge for alcohol, cabins are suites with tubs, walk-in closets, stocked bars in suite and the food is superior. While you sip your free drink at the bar do they ask you if you want a shrimp cocktail or caviar?
