Thanks Canal archive. Bordeaux 11 day cruise. This will be our fourth river cruise with Scenic and also have done a full Australia tour with Scenic.

We’re on this one too (hopefully). Flying to Bordeaux tomorrow. See you on board perhaps.

rn123 I’m sticking my neck out here but over eight cruises with scenic we have never had a bad or even indifferent experience on board and we’ve had a few running up to a cruise. Use your butler - morning tea or coffee at whatever time you want, they’ll sort anything out for you. Check your mini bar if there’s something you know your not going to use ask for it to be removed and more of what you do like added. Book your table at L’mour early if you meet up with another couple pair up then if you want to go again you may be able to book under their name (shush). The bar staff will quickly learn your preference and your name. The coffee/tea/hot chocolate/green and fruit tea machine is in the lounge it’s the most brilliant machine of its kind I’ve ever come across and I’m a coffee fanatic and teas not to bad. Use it at any time or ask a member of staff for a demo although it’s pretty self explanatory. Enjoy I’m with you in spirit.

Thanks for this. That’s reassuring and some helpful info.

  3. Has anyone been able to access their Trip Personaliser? We’ve been trying every day with no success. Must say it has been far from a luxurious experience so far. Been a struggle to get answers (which have not always been consistent) or any kind of response. One week until we board so really hope the onboard experience is better.

    Hello

Quick question. I just received my coupons from Seabourn.... can I really not get the obc if I have some obc for a particular cruise if I refer a new Seabourn cruiser?  I have two cruises booked in 2019 each with a small obc.  Seems unlikely I’d book a cruise without some OBC.  I really can’t combine them?

I think it depends what the OBC is for. We had our first cruise recently and we had our referral $400 plus some OBC from Seabourn. I would check with them.

I am sailing in a week's time to the Caribbean. Is it too late to get a referral coupon?

Ros - my parents live in Edinburgh!

Please let me know and if OK I will post my email address.

    Thank you.

La Terrazza walk through in 4K shot on GoPro Silver (Link also posted in case the direct youtube frame doesn't load.)

Very nice. We were on the same sailing. Had no complaints about any of the dining venues and tried all apart from La Dame. Loved Indochine but we were surprised that it seemed to get quieter as the cruise went on and Atlantide got busier. We liked the concept of the different dining venues and the lack of a MDR didn't bother us. Off to check the rest of your YouTube clips now - thanks!

  7. I've been following this thread as we are going on this trip next week. I'm not anticipating sea sickness as I've only suffered from it on VERY rough seas. I am a bit concerned about altitude sickness but I guess I won't know until I get there as everyone appears to react differently. We arrive in Quito at midnight, have one day at the Marriott then fly to Galápagos the following day. We plan to just relax at the hotel and take it easy. If we do feel up to it we'll have a walk around the city but don't want to make ourselves ill before the main part of the holiday.

    Hope you enjoy your trip.

  8. But they can touch you!One of my most favourite memories was swimming with some young male sea lions in the Galapagos.I was trying to imitate them.On one occasion when surfacing one came up alongside me,put his flipper around me and looked into my eyes as much to say-you need a lot more practice.

Yes, sometimes the wildlife have other ideas! In Antarctica we were told to keep x metres away from wildlife. However, the Penguins obviously didn't get the same instructions. They were very curious and got very close.

  9. You should have been in swim training by practising in the Forth  I suspect the waters will be a wee bit warmer than they are off Burntisland just now! Enjoy what sounds like a wonderful cruise.

 Yes, that would have been good practice. Such a pity I've left it a bit late :)

Yes, should be a great trip, successful snorkelling or not.

  10. Silversea provides life vests for the zodiac that you can also snorkel with to keep you afloat. And yes, most of the snorkeling takes place from the zodiac in deep water. The zodiacs stay close by the snorkelers and will speed over quickly if you want to be picked up. I would tell the guide on your zodiac that you are not a great swimmer and that you may need to be picked up rather quickly and will signal them. There is some snorkeling off a few beaches, but most of the great snorkeling (and swimming with the sea lions) is from the Zodiac. You won't want to miss that--just stay close to the zodiacs and be careful so you are comfortable. It is a wonderful cruise.

That's helpful, thank you. Good to know I can use the life vest if I need to. May do that the first time and see how I get on.

Counting down the days now ......

  11. A question for anyone who has done the Galápagos cruise. I am not a very good swimmer but do want to try snorkelling if possible. Do they provide any aids, such as those foam float things? Also, do you get into the water from the zodiacs?

    Thanks
