  1. We were in 12500 in Feb 2016.

One of the best suites we have ever stayed in.

We didnt miss the balcony at all...the pool deck is just down the hall.

We would stay in it again in a heart beat!

The only issue we had was the 'warmth' of the master bedroom. Tons of windows = tons of heat. keep them covered during the day while you are in port.

The master bedroom is absolutely huge, plenty of room.

It was us and 2 kids. One in a pack and play in the master (up by the windows, it was that big!) and one on the pullout in Bedroom 2.

  2. I have searched and searched and can't find the answer.

We have done H4, SC, and 2 br DOS's on other ships with 6 people. They always have a murphy bed or upper birth in the second bedroom.

Ive looked at tons of videos and can't find one on the escape.

    A. Does it have a single pull down bed of sorts.

    B. If not, how does it sleep 6?

I appreciate any help and any pictures would be great. Thank you!!!

  3. We are going to have 7 people in St. Thomas in December of this year.

We want to go to Magens beach, but also hit some other things like the Synagogue.

Would it make sense for us to rent a van? They're $98/ day...so not bad. What about parking? Thats my question...can we actually find a place to park.

    I appreciate it!

  4. hope these prices come down.

Tough to pay $18,000 for the same thing I paid $5500 for last year. Albeit, a brand new beautiful ship.

Heck, the pearl isnt much cheaper at $15,800 for the exact same room we had on the Jewel last year.

Heck, I have the Escape booked for Dec 2017 at under $6,000. the same room on the bliss for caribbean a year later would be $19,000.

  5. We cruise with younger children. So it allows us to have a 'date' after they have gone to bed. Also, we can still eat in a nice restaurant after a day that may have been tiring for the kids and they need to get to bed or may not behave in the dining room.

Also, Alaska. We can sit on our balcony and watch alaska go by. can't beat it.

  6. We almost booked with MSC in the YC, but we were told it wasn't very family friendly by the booking agent.

They said the rest of the ship was kid friendly...but the YC specifically was for people 'wanting to get away from the noise'. Keeping my business at NCL.

  7. We've done this specific thing in Alaska. Only we had a 3 year old with us as well and we brought my in laws (first cruise).

We have also taken them multiple times to the caribbean at different ages from the oldest when he was 10 mos old to as recent as 4 and 2. Never have brought a car seat.

We did not take a car seat for either.

Being in the USA, most rental companies etc have car seats.

We rented a car in Skagway through Avis. No problems with 2 car seats reserved ahead.

Rented a car in Juneau, once again, no problems. (car rental at the port, used to be rent a wreck).

Ketchikan - Went fishing and didn't use a car.

walked around victoria. Didn't use a car.

  8. Man, I have noticed the opposite!

In our 2 BR the butler, concierge, HD, and wait staff absolutely spent so much more time on the people in the smaller bedroom. They brought my kids cookies, and peanut butter sandwiches...grilled cheese and of all things...CHOCOLATE on the bed.

The chocolate was the last straw as when my DS and DD came back to the room already asleep and we put them into the bed...there was melted chocolate everywhere the next morning.

On top of that, they cleaned their PJ's for FREE without them even asking.

We had to stuff all our dirty clothes in a paper bag and pay $25.

On top of everything...my kids didn't even pay for their room. Freeloaders.

  9. We have used Rony and loved his tour guide. We had a great time.

The guide took us wherever we wanted and recommended the best place for lunch.

We have 2 special needs kids and he was great with them, even held my little girl for us so we could get close to a cliff.

When you get the port and see 1000 vendors and they are fighting for you to come to them, all you say is Rony, and they will make sure you get there. Everyone respects him and it is evident.

  10. I wonder how people tip for extra people.

In the DOS, we had 6 people. I felt like I tipped well, but $120/day for the butler, c'mon!

I tipped the butler $300 at the end of the week, concierge $125, and room steward $100 additional to DSC.

All seemed very happy and appreciative and were very attentive to us the last morning.

    I just can't see tipping $20pp/pd for 1 person.

  11. With absolutely NO prompting from me or the hubby, a number of Norwegian staff have referred to us as Sir Legal First Name and Sir DH's Legal First Name, rather than my preferred first name which is part of my online handle here. Maybe its because we are two men, and they can't figure out how to call us otherwise? Anyway, while a bit disconcerting initially, I have grown to appreciate the names....but must admit, Your Majesty would be even better! LOL

That is how it works out for Filipinos i found out.

  12. Same thing here, and on 2 different cruises he called me Mr. (Last Name), the whole time, even after I asked him to please informally call me my (middle name).

...and I am not complaining at all, they just wanted to show respect which I appreciate...but we are not formal people.

So I called them Mr. (their last name) and it became a funny thing.
